but look at the original Nintendo. almost everyone's nintendo bricked on them due to faulty cartridge loading system and yet Nintendo has had a great record with every console released since. I'm just saying don't let one generation of console's problems discourage you from buying another.

maybe not as bad as RROD for the PS2, but is was an issue and many people have gone through multiple PS2's.
To be honest, I've had worse luck with Sony products than Microsoft. My Xbox original and Xbox 360 are fine. No problems. Ever.
For example, Sony's headphones are garbage. they work great for a couple months then crap out on you. From my life experience, Sony products have durability issues.

You have a short memory. How about you type "PS2 failure rate" in a Google search engine and see what you find. PS2 had notorious failure issues that went beyond launch consoles. Some alleged it to be between 40%-70%.

No kidding. Why are all the Sony fans getting high and mighty about failure rates of the launch X360? The PS2s bricked like nobody's business and Sony didn't fix them at their expense like Microsoft does with the Xbox 360. Maybe it's a sophomore slump to have the second console have technical issues. who knows. The original X-box didn't have noticable technical issues so who says the xbox 720 will.

6 exclusive AAA titles on the 360 right now. If you think MGS4 is so awesome then imagine having 6 exclusive games of comparable quality for use. most multiplatforms run better and look better on the 360 also so you're covered on that end. also, PS3 has pretty much abandoned the JRPG while the 360 is cornering the market.

Sony is a shady company. I don't know how anyone could have faith in a company that consistently doesn't live up to it's promises. And they promise so much more than any other console company.

Now that the numbers are coming in and it looks like MGS4 might sell between 250-350k extra PS3's at the very best. Which is hardly a reason for Microsoft to start peeing their pants when there are still 6 million more Xbox 360's sold worldwide...

PS3 owners now have to admit they want Gears of War because they lied about not wanting Halo 3 for so long and if they say they don't want either Halo 3 or Gears of War 2 then everyone will know they're either crazy or full of crap. It's like they play their "I Hate Halo" card and then admit to wanting one of the X360's many AAA titles to not look like they're complete bonkers.

the wii is what is really killing the PS3 not the X360. the wii is siphonig off more gamers from the PS3 than the 360 in Japan and Europe. 360 is hurting the PS3 more in North America.
PS3 has the least casual gamers of any console right now.
sony is quoted as saying the ps3 has a 10 year life cycle. microsoft is quoted as saying the x360 has a 7 year lifecycle. If both companies hold to their word then microsoft will release the new xbox four years before Sony releases their new ps4.

mgs4 is too much a game for hardcore players to move consoles like Halo 2 or 3. besides, M$ has a record setting ad campaign for Halo. I have yet to see an ad anywhere for MGS4 in the USA (TV ad or anywhere else)
sony would be EXTREMELY lucky if this game sells 100K PS3's more than what the PS3 normally sells in a month. people rarely buy consoles for one game (with a few exceptions like the Halo franchise, Super Smash bros, and Guitar Hero) and most MGS4 fans already own PS3's.
