Not too surprising. These consoles just struggle to deliver proper 3D. If you want to claim to be 'the best looking 360 game' then a 3D mode where the visuals are pared back probably won't help your claim...

I totally blew it? Hardly legion, hardly....

What exactly have you brought to the table in your post? NOTHING. Your comment was useless. I have noticed your comments on N4G mostly consist of criticising others, rather than ever adding something new. You strike again- i don't appreciate useless criticism. You could produce evidence against my claims? You could form your own well worded and carefully judged intelligent argument? Of course not. Just empty criticism.

Not these useless claims again...We maxed it! There is no more left! It is running full speed! Pushed to the limit!

None of this is useful. I could max 360. I could write a little bit of code to calculate Pi to X amount of decimal places and the machine would be 'maxed' 100 percent system usage.

All that matters is that the machine is used intelligently and the engine is well optimised. All this talk of 'maxing' and 'pushing the limit&...

I do play Halo Arnon. The shot i linked to is most likely Reach i will admit although the source says ODST, because there are not a whole bunch of areas in ODST like that but i think that is not REALLY important which precise 360 halo game it is. Either ODST or Reach it matters not does it...

Since when did even Reach or ODST look that good? You said: "100% in-game shot of Halo: Reach" Clearly this is simply not true and exactly my point.

It is ...

The game itself is more important than the graphics. From what i can see, it is just another set of 'shots' that bungie used to pump out, massive resolution screens taken from a PC devkit and downscaled down to look super smooth and super anti aliasing. 343 are clearly up to the very same thing.

I think this IS Project Gotham Racing- or at least its replacement. Even after Bizarre left Microsoft, MS kept the IP and had plans for it apparently including guys from Turn 10.

Since the end of the PGR series which i loved, Microsoft have had an arcade racer gap in their portfolio.

It seems the decision to build a game with the Forza name instead of using the PGR name has been made, i would not at all be surprised if this was more arcade focused and les...

I kinda wanted a new PGR but in absence of that, a Forza arcade style racer will do. I guess they gave up on a PGR branded game and it probably evolved into a Forza branded one.

One reason for this game, and it is PGR. No PGR. Project Gotham was Microsoft's triple A arcade racing franchise. So now it is gone, or at least Bizarre, then they need a replacement

The top GK104 should have the beating of a 7950 apparently. It should be quicker than 7950 and GTX580 but a little slower overall than 7970 so the word on the street says.

It is a fairly small chip compared to the 7950 so here is hoping Nvidia price it well because of that.

I did have it, but it was fixed ages ago for me with one of the earliest patches. I have a pretty powerful machine and suffered it but within a couple of weeks a patch arrived and new drivers and the game ran very fast and fluidly afterwards.

Great game BTW. Not as good as the first but still very worthy and a must play.

An AMD APU essentially means that it can never be the absolute cutting edge of videogame technology and performance.

Using one single die, one chip, with a CPU and a GPU integrated together means you will get memory bus bandwidth and latency advantages.

But it isn't nearly enough to compensate for the fact neither chip can be massive and thus at the cutting edge of performance because they are sharing space.

They will only ever be a...

Yep, i believe it is better to keep the original machine in the case of PS3 it will difficult to emulate or expensive to include PS3's chipset in a new machine. I personally don't need or want it, if i already have a PS3.

It isn't such a big deal, it never used to be until a few generations ago. In reality i doubt it is now just because of the amount of people that still bought a PS3 knowing it couldn't play PS2 games.

It is true concepts and ideas from CELL have made their way into modern IBM power chips. CELL lives on in some design lessons in POWER7 but the idea of having SPEs each with a small amount of local memory and a dispatcher type general purpose core like the PPE is finished.

POWER7 is closer to conventional RISC design and typically has a huge wad of unified cache. Any POWER derivative for console would probably be a custom core with maybe less cache than the server variants b...

Does NO ONE but me read technology sites? It was pretty much certain CELL would not be used in their next generation machine after the development of the processor was effectively ended two years ago. Assuming Sony are going for a heavily uprated machine, then CELL is outdated and outmoded.

Its only real chance of being in a new machine is for backwards compatibility, as CELL just can't be emulated in software easily.

The CPU is almost certain to be a...

This has to be a proper native DX11 engine. Or at least i hope it would be. This engine is very important just because it is most likely to power dozens of big games over the next 6 or 7 years.

With luck it will also give us clues to the real performance of next generation machines. After all, they said it would be built for the consoles in mind FIRST- remember Sweeney saying that? Only 2 weeks ago it was confirmed to be up and running on a new console that could not be nam...

I wouldn't bank on that. It is possible that next gen consoles are only midrange, but at least one them is likely to be a powerhouse machine and implement a GPU from the current HD 7000 series or next generation Nvidia architecture. These cards will not be far off a GTX590, but more importantly they would be more efficient in a console. You'll need more power in a PC.

It was pretty clear although 7800GTX/X1800 were good just before 360 arrived, after 2 years they re...

It is a next generation engine. Assuming it is built for powerful consoles launched next year, expect it to at the very least stretch current high end GPUs.

This is not unrealistic, because by the time the games begin to flow from the engine in 18 months, this stuff will be midrange at best.

It is rare that i get a complete game stopping problem with my machine on a modern PC game. Personally at least i can't think of the last one i had. I know a few titles may have had problems but they have usually been fixed quickly.

Sim City 4 is the last game i played that gave me any sort of fuss, but then it is nearly 10 years old. I had it fixed up and running lovely in 1080p with a short bit of fiddling. Thats right, i can even play fairly ancient PC games in a resol...

@ Sarcasm- it is a small feat. 7970 v GTX580 is not a brilliant comparison at all for AMD. 7970 is pretty unimpressive TBH when you look at the underlying stats.

The 7970 is a brand new generation, whereas GTX580's base architecture is nearly 2 years old and the GTX580 itself is about 15 months old and on the 40nm process.

The brand new Radeon is on the latest gen TSMC 28nm process. This will instantly give it good power characteristics versus a prev...
