Meh. Nintendo have definitely made some mistakes. Now they have to try to fix them.
Can it augment your reality so much you no longer look retarded wearing them? No?
Pass.
Its a perfectly good analogy, for the layman it is good enough. Especially when you consider that CELL and GPU are designed to be massively parallel. Pointless arguing over semantics when the point was expressed more than adequately.
You unfortunately took an analogy just that as literally meaning size of a job which wasn't the case, it was more about use the right tools for the job in hand. Just as you wouldn't use a nutcracker to demolish a building you wouldn't...
Indeed. CELL is mostly a moot point and side note in computing history now when we live in the age of CUDA and OpenCL APIs with GPUs designed with compute in mind from the get go, which didn't really exist mainstream when CELL was conceptualised. Now it does. So PS3's CELL can do a couple hundred gigaflops single precision compute. A midrange Radeon can do more than 10 times that.
The things that CELL does better than a conventional x86 CPU(parallel tasks), a modern G...
I think you are blind. Fact is, CPU performance will not dictate texture quality anyway....The third image is probably taken at a slightly different point which is why the facial expression is different and the lighting is slightly changed on his face easily explaining the difference.
Because of this if you look elsewhere, like the guy's buttons on his lapels or his sideburns on the right side they are much sharper on Wii U. All the fine details like individual strands of...
How is it a fact that Wii U has better game play? It's the same game as on all the other platforms. Massive facepalm. None of what you claimed as a fact is actually a fact.
Getting your information from a website selling you a game? That's ridiculous.
I have no idea why you replied such nonsense to my post. I already made it clear that Wii U beats PS3 on this game visually. However it doesn't beat 360 and unless it has more resolution which is UN...
PC > > > > 360 = Wii U > PS3
Fixed.
Wii U has clearer textures because it has none of that nasty PS3 blur filter. PS3 does appear to win in one shot but if you scroll down to see the FULL sliding version (of the zoomed face shot) it doesn't really if you compare the guy's uniform lapels and strangely his sideburn hair. Much sharper on Wii U. Everything else Wii U is much sharper, and about on par with 360. PS3 just needs to lose the hor...
The differences are indeed small but it also seems undeniable to me the 360 version has the edge.
Shadows in game are the most obvious one. This is especially obvious right at the very end when you have gone through the staged sections, and stood on the deck with the crewmans shadow.
In the cut scenes in particular when he talks to the captain then the Wii U version has no specular mapping on his face, while 360 does and it looks a lot better.
The best system is a balanced system. Some games will expose Wii U's lack of CPU performance, others you wouldn't even know it. It varies game to game.
It is true that the key component for a games system is really the GPU. I have said this countless times on here, no end of times.
But I have still pointed out that there is a limit to what you can do if you have a weak CPU. You are likely to see major bottlenecks or performance degradation on particul...
It is the CPU. Wii U has a superior, more modern GPU than 360 and especially PS3. It is a fully unified part, at least a generation ahead of them.
However the CPU seems to be incredibly small, absolutely miniscule in fact next to the GPU. Usually you want all the money to be spent on the GPU and a less powerful CPU is not such a biggy, but the disparity appears to be really quite enormous.
For example 360's CPU is about half the number of transistors of i...
Nevermind that, she got her arm amputated in the third picture! Poor gal
Yep, it depends what version it has been compared to. With the blur on the textures too we are seeing the PS3 version with the QAA blurring patch.
However that still means that it does look crisper than the PS3 at least. Slightly better alpha textures like the smoke/fire especially with the helicopter landing and the trucks burning as well. I suspect that it won't beat the 360 version very much and that they will look very similar. But generally it seems quite crisp and s...
Xenos is a 330m transistor GPU because the GPU is the combination of the main core + extra logic and edram on the daughter die. In other words Xenos was two separate chips until they shrank them and dumped them all on one die with the CPU recently. PS3's GPU is 300m transistors on one core.
Wii U's GPU is certainly faster then even 360's, but the amount it is faster is not a huge margin because it is almost certainly running at less clocks than a 4770 or sections...
Yeah the GPU itself is only slightly larger than a 4770. However that 32mb of edram has to go somewhere inside the chip and thus take up a bit of room which would almost certainly confine the design to a MAXIMUM of a 4770. Chances are if this is the actual basis of the design it wouldn't share clocks as high as the desktop 4770 either. This is because Wii U's maximum power draw is actually quite a bit LESS than a 4770. This suggests some refinement, but almost certainly heavy downcloc...
Consoles can be different. System RAM and GPU RAM bandwidth can technically be the same thing if the whole lot is unified and on the same bus- Xbox 360 style. It is often a bit more complicated than straight up PC buses because the configurations are custom.
Xbox 360's 512mb main memory bus is shared by the CPU and the GPU- 22.4GB/s. The GPU has a setup whereby it is connected to extra off core logic which was the daughter die, by a 32GB/s bus. The extra logic was further...
So its a rumour if its 17GB/s but if you pull out another number from thin air of 30GB/s thats true? Evidence? Proof?
Or in fact are you creating more rumours with even less evidence or explanation to back that up....
The Batman video comparison is from a fairly credible source in gametrailers. Certainly more credible than your website.
You seem to talk nonsense to be honest. Edram has absolutely enormous bandwidth being on die with the GPU i...
Actually RAM chips are printed with an identifier model number like most everything else. Its fairly easy to find out about them. You can get industry catalogues with all the vast array of different RAM chips produced by various companies, samsung, hynix, qimonda, etc etc
This number can pin down the maximum value of that model. So the estimate is posted based on the best possible case and fastest version of that particular RAM chip.
Assuming as well of course Nintendo's servers aren't getting killed by everyone downloading it at once.
Oh wait. They will be. DOH!
It is possible that Wii U lacks a great deal of main memory bandwidth because the edram actually on the same die as the GPU will offer pretty huge ass bandwidth to operate inside (probably 250+GB/s), and there is 32mb of it, plenty for an entire anti aliased framebuffer.
Nintendo would know that they could get away with cheapo DDR3 memory. It wouldn't be mind blowing but then it is quickly becoming apparent Wii U is not at all significantly faster than 360 and PS3.
Doesn't seem like flame bait to me. Just seems like a pretty valid report on a game people might wanna know about.
Dunno how people can defend Wii U over stuff like this when we know its GPU is better and we know that devs have a lot more memory to play with so thats not an excuse. They can be pretty lazy with GPU cycles and memory management to get a game to match 360/PS3 in those aspects.
However as I have said before that using a weak CPU will really i...
