Its bleedin obvious Microsoft's studios and affiliates are beavering away on games for their next machine.

This always happens, when a new console is due, the old one's first party life support gets switched off and relies on third party backups to keep momentum until the new hardware arrives and games start coming properly.

It'll be 8 years since 360 launched end of 2013, EIGHT YEARS. Even the NES was replaced before 8 years.

3840 × 2160 is 4k UHD.

Firstly, there is no way that a console out in a year or even 2 will run games in this resolution. Anyone that thinks it will is probably brain damaged. Not even 2560 x 1600 is that common on PC right now (0.20 percent on steam)

This is besides the fact it is pointless on virtually all size screens 99 percent of the population have inside their homes. You just wouldn't really see such a massive resolution unless you were gaming...

I love the career mode. It isn't perfect but much better than FIFA12 because young players develop.

I made a couple of videos showing how to make a world class side from your own youth http://www.youtube.com/watc... and a video showing how far players can develop http://www.youtube.com/w...

Rockstar statement:

"Hey guys, due to unforeseen technical issues, the Android release of Vice City will be slightly delayed. Our goal is to get this out for Android by the end of next week. Our apologies for the delay to all our fans on Android devices and please stay tuned for updates."

Kinda disappointed here. Bit of a farce for android. It was put up on the main google play page and people could start to download and pay but when they did they f...

Image quality is a trade off. Performance is fairly poor on both machines, talking 25 frame averages and as much as 20 percent tearing. 360 has as much tearing as PS3 but seems to hold up a few more frames in the worst conditions.

Same conclusion as digital foundry.

Does anyone know what this actually means?

Its pretty much a cert PS3 and 360 will be replaced by new consoles next year. Neither have had as many retail exclusives or first party published games this year as any of the peak years prior to this.

This happens the year before every new console generation, it becomes apparent that the manufacturers are preparing new games for their new consoles.

The lack of 360 titles makes it the most obvious, ...

PC version worked perfect for me. Didn't have an SSD at the time but ran brilliantly. Much much better than the 360 version which has framerate problems, texture pop in and also slow loading aka the infamous elevator rides.

That was all virtually eliminated on a half decent PC even with a standard mechanical hard drive. A 2007 Pc as well.

5 years later with an SSD it runs even better.

You can lap both.

However the reason you might have lapped a cooler first is because many multiple heatpipe tower coolers that are now hugely popular used to have less than stellar contact patches, even some expensive ones. Not brilliant finishing at the factory.

However after these designs have evolved a bit more over the past 3-4 years the finishing has improved and so it is mostly pointless if you have a decent one.

If you are pedantic and anally retentive then lap your cooler's surface contact area.

If you aren't then don't cos it'll hardly matter these days with such cool running processors on a decent heatsink, Intel ones anywaysss.......

You can overclock the nuts off an i5 2500k and on a fairly decent air cooler you'll still struggle to exceed 75 degrees loaded. Thats a bit warm, but a far cry from the days of Preshott Pentium 4's

So you are complaining that your PC isn't very powerful. Really thats it surely? Whether you can turn vsync on or not depends on how good your machine is. But it doesn't have to be very good to have it on, it'll surely be the very first thing you have on. I would sacrifice another setting if it meant getting vsync. Its a no brainer.

Medium settings here looks like consoles.

Far Cry 3 is demanding when everything is turned on for sure, but at lower...

Taking it all into account, it'll be fairly easy with a small amount of design.

You do realise that a 13/14 inch laptop plugged in under load for example can exceed 50 watts total chipset power draw in a volume considerably smaller than Wii U. Depending on their CPU/GPU configuration.

Not just laptops. You can get teeny nettop computers which have volumes similar to Wii U and will exceed 60 watts. Especially ones you could get barebones and choose to use ...

Screen tearing on PC? So you never heard of vsync?

Framedrops? So you never heard of getting your settings right?

Are you entirely sure you have it on PC and haven't mistakenly pretended you actually have a gaming PC and mistakenly lied in this reply because no genuine PC gamer in the history of PC gaming doesn't know how to turn on vsync in game settings.....

Do you know much about the semiconductor industry Ruperthebear?

Graphics card is not a part of a console. A GPU is. A graphics card is a GPU placed on a SEPARATE, discrete printed circuit board with the components required to control its power, memory buses, external connecting bus to a motherboard and cooling systems.

I'll point out to you that when PS3 first arrived it had to dissipate nigh on 200 watts from its chipset. 360 a little less, but still ove...

You obviously didn't read what I wrote. I made great pains to emphasise Wii U didn't have to be hugely powerful to beat up current consoles.

Yes, I thought of the cost of the gamepad Theyellowflash30. Its fairly cheaply built. The screen is very low resolution and not multi touch. The streaming technology is licensed and not expensive.

Besides this extra cost is offset by the fact Wii U has absolutely no hard drive. I might understand if it even had t...

Problem with far cry 3 on consoles is it just runs choppy and the edges seem rough. Once you crack it open on a good PC the refinement and smoothness and seamlessness of the game massively enhances the open world experience.

It's a difficult feeling to explain to a console only gamer.

Like the difference between a cheap n cheerful rough whiskey and a long matured refined smooth malt. Yes they are both are alcoholic and essentially the same thing.

I think they dropped the ball in that they didn't make a machine that is obviously and blatantly faster than PS3/360.

Not talking uber fast here, just plainly quicker. This isn't hard. Even using a crappy x86 dual core and a budget Radeon 7750 pummels all these consoles. We're talking proper, bonafide 1080p with filters for common titles like Batman Arkham City and Skyrim.

They didn't have to go mad, but had they built something that had all t...

These were really fun levels too. That makes it all the more reason to want to expand his story because it is still rather a mystery how he found his way onto Shadow Moses.

He deserves a game of his own and it could even finish with his mission on shadow moses, fighting snake, and then helping him defeat Rex before ending.

How cool would it be to actually fight Snake as Fox?

Ahh well. Never happen.

Well you mostly understood it but not entirely.

"1 GHZ in 2012 > 1 GHZ in 2005"

Really NO comparison between clockspeeds should be made in isolation, not even this one. For example 1ghz on a 2012 ARM Cortex A5 mobile processor (about 1500 MIPS) versus a desktop X86 processor clocked to 1ghz from 2005 (even an ancient 600mhz pentium 3 is 2000+ MIPS) will still end with the 2005 processor probably winning in most raw number benches.

Fairly obvious CPU performance still matters. You can manage with less performance to a certain extent, if that extent is to match the current games consoles PS3/360.

However reduced CPU performance means Wii U will never significantly exceed what PS3/360 can do and have been doing for all this generation now.

Its GPU is obviously nothing to really get excited about either. Harping on as if it'll save the day by taking a bunch of CPU specific tasks on whe...
