You somewhat exaggerate the situation. They look like Jaguar cores because of the small size(has to be small to fit everything on the die with a GPU as hinted) and cache involved. Steamroller is not due til 2014 and would be highly expensive.

So, 8 low clocked Jaguar cores (designed for tablets/netbooks etc...) will be absolutely no match for any existing decent desktop x86 ivy bridge quad core, near future Haswell, existing 8 cluster AMD bulldozer. Not. Even. Close.

I am a huge GT fan, since 1998. GT5 was great, but it is no real match for this in terms of dynamics and physics, nor visuals.

It shouldn't come at too much of a surprise, because this is designed for PC hardware several generations beyond what PS3 could possibly achieve.

I have played this since October 2011 and seen it advance and it is amazing how far it has come.

Remember everything you see in these shots is in game with just the came...

Majora's mask is very good.

But OOT is probably the highest rated game, console, handheld or otherwise, of all time.

On Metacritic OOT wins out, on gamerankings SMG edges it by a tiny margin. Its right up there.

Lots of good Zelda games. I didn't think Wind Waker was that great to be honest. Thats relative, because it was still better than most other gamecube games, but just not as good as OOT.

Either way I still own ...

TBH I did play Wind Waker in full HD about 5 years ago in the dolphin emulator. Just sayin....

This is a remake so they massaged the visuals for sure. Will be good to see it but rather have some more 'new' games as soon as possible

Also OOT is clearly the best Zelda lol

'You're talking if you own a good gaming PC right NOW, it probably already easily outstrips the raw performance of Durango'

This.

It would outstrip the specs outlined recently so much that even with the low overheads consoles are blessed with wouldn't produce games that existing gaming PC couldn't run the same or better even with the overhead advantage considered.

If the nextbox is roughly a Radeon 7770 as has been outline...

Interesting. Lets assume they are true for a minute.

8 core AMD (assume Jaguar), same as next playstation supposedly. Or similar. New architecture (well updated) but designed for the low end mobile market/low clocks/low power. So yeah it aint firebreathing like an FX-8350, but it is plenty quicker than 360/PS3/Wii U.

GPU with 64 x 12 for 768 shaders and 800mhz clock. This would be the equivalent of something like a Radeon 7770 (more shaders, but lower clocks)...

"always thought they could use a proprietary flash drive system for games. Would ve small, can hold lots of data, fast transfer rates and would make piracy very difficult. They're also really cheap now. It seems to tick all the boxes but obviously doesn't. Does anybody know why?"

Because they aren't really cheap even now, not compared to disc based technology.

25GB blank bluray disc costs how much? $2 each at most if bought on a cake at ...

Next gen consoles need some form of high capacity format that isn't too expensive. This means discs. Consoles aren't quite ready for download only because not every market has that luxury. They may be in another 5 years, but not quite yet.

In the case of Sony, it is very easy for them to drop in another bluray drive. It is well established, 50GB is still a lot of space and 99 percent of devs would be perfectly happy with that. A reasonable speed BD drive is now cheap...

According to these specs, PS4 will not be a beast. It seems the days of really cutting edge consoles are long gone. However it has a high chance of being the fastest console by a decent distance if thats what you worry about.

I said it wouldn't be a beast in the sense that the specs provided here suggest the machine will not actually be as fast as a 7970M either, detuned slightly. If the performance figures are remotely accurate, then something like a desktop Radeon 7850 ...

It depends on the memory controller and operating system. The way the memory is treated.

Xbox 360 uses GDDR3 memory as system memory. It was done 7 years ago in a console! Look it up. It is perfectly possible to use GDDR as system memory if you wanted. It is still memory, just a special type of memory with specs that made it commonly used as graphics memory and labelled as such.

Heck you can use hard drive space as virtual memory space so that your OS recogni...

Not quite as easy as knowing how fast the RAM is. Need to know the overall bandwidth of the bus the memory is actually on.

For example 2000mhz GDDR3 on a 512bit bus has MASSIVELY more bandwidth (ergo faster) than 4000mhz GDDR5 on a 128bit bus.

Bandwidth is important but not actually devastatingly so. More RAM can be important, but not devastatingly so.

It also depends on whether that bus bandwidth is shared or dedicated. 360 technically has L...

Obvious result is obvious. Windows comes with the expensive license fee. Linux does not and is utterly customisable.

Don't know with all the disagrees. Steambox really needs to be considered as a new platform, for new games to grow. I assume a lot of you expected it to just be a locked down windows PC????

It seemed fairly obvious to me this was not going to be the case from the day it was announced.

Valve are going linux this thing up, ...

According to this source from long ago, the next Playstation was supposed to be a bunch of fast separate chips possibly on an MCM while the next Xbox silicon here is supposed to be a Fusion style SoC. BOTH machines according to the source claim to be AMD lockouts, AMD CPUs and GPUs. However other sources claim Microsoft have gone with an IBM CPU.

All we have heard since from a bunch of alternate sources though is that Sony are in fact the ones going in on the SoC 'fusion&...

Pretty stunned people don't know or won't accept that the Wii U version is technically inferior to the 360 version. It has been well documented and is a fact that Wii U runs the game quite a bit slower than 360, its average framerate is lower. It has no tearing but it doesn't get near 60FPS, on average it is below 50. http://www.lensoftruth.com/...
