Nvidia will sell every Titan they make over the next few months. It is a limited edition part anyway.

Its not about that, its about what the mainstream parts will be like by the time PS4 actually get released and settled, by the time that happens, Titan performance WILL be closer to mainstream.

Fact is its still only about 20 percent faster than a 7970 ghz and that part will be replaced with a refresh by the time PS4 arrives, the entire graphics card lineup w...

Don't see what the fuss is about, he is only pointing out the obvious and well known.

He is probably just highlighting what I have been saying for some time, the gap between the PS4 and a good PC is larger than it was between a good PC and Xbox 360, when that generation began back in 2005.

The consoles are giving away more to PC than they ever have before. Xbox 360 had a GPU as fast as anything around up to about 6 months before it launched, PS4's GPU...

Interesting design. First thing that comes to mind studying it a bit more is that....its a bit messy. There isn't a huge amount of bandwidth, and what there is, is shared around rather a lot.

I am not convinced it is any better to design what they have than just bite the bullet and cram in GDDR5 like Sony have, because the price of RAM will eventually make that decision more bearable on manufacturing cost.

The move engines seem the messiest bit to me, I&#...

I like the fact PC games are probably going to be a lot, lot cheaper and that the PC game I bought 10 years ago still works on the brand new system I just built.

It is always gonna be a hot topic, but I must say that the people most informed, realistic and understand both sides best are usually the people who are actually PC gamers, because they often have a console as well.

What do they say about having kids?

YOU JUST DON'T AND CAN'T...

If you can tell me how much PS4 will cost and how much the games will cost etc (apparently neither will come cheap)

Than go nuts.

Its the age old, well console costs X amount less to buy compared to gaming PC!

(Ignore how much console games are for the entire life of the system here and what a PC actually is and can do besides)

It actually took about a year for Pc to outpower xbox 360 and by the time PS3 launched it was alre...

The game itself is good. It absolutely does need bigger maps however, desperate for a bit more room even with the idea of taking over lots of cities.

If they can just get the servers stable and double the size of the cities I would be ultra addicted.

Well its not too hard. AMD could offer them the whole package, CPU, GPU, memory controller, all on one die.

Attractive for console manufacturers looking to cut costs where they can and simplify their supply chain.

Console only gamers forgetting which platform has the biggest and most thriving community for Indie titles as well as the origin of many huge console games which aren't 'all about teh grafix'.

You know Trials HD you love? Minecraft? Portal? GTA even?

PC can do both, and most PC gamers aren't just obsessed with cutting edge graphics, often embracing stuff like minecraft regularly and turning it into the huge deal it is now from nothing....

I remember back when Xbox 360 first arrived, the games sold for their RRP in the uk which was £44.99-£49.99. It was at least 6 months before games came down to £39.99 and most big titles were no less than this, Gears of War was a year after 360 launched and it was still mostly £40-£42 new.

As generations go on typically game prices do deflate a little mainly because the userbase swells and the greater sales of games make up for it.

I ...

RAM won't even figure much if the Next Xbox has a considerably slower GPU as has been stated.

How do you beat an APU?

Easy. Just build two separate chips that are much faster than the individual ones coupled on die inside an APU, then connect them on a memory bus.

Its called a PC btw lol

4857d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Its a supercharged APU, not a supercharged gaming PC.

Its a gaming PC with a restrictor inlet on it, more accurately.

7850 is a decent GPU level of performance but nothing like as fast comparably to Xenos, relative to the top end stuff in 2005.

The fact that today we learned PS4 probably won't launch worldwide means that by the time the thing gets to Europe, 7850 performance will be a lower midrange part at best.

The only thing I got from this is that PS4 has the most powerful APU.

That means the next Xbox hasn't....

AMD claim that a top Jaguar quad core is 260 percent faster than a top end Bobcat dual core http://news.softpedia.com/n... (its predecessor.) A Bobcat dual core like an E-350 is just under half the performance of a basic 2008 Intel Pentium dual core E2200. Maybe a quad core Jaguar is like an E2200.

@Ju:

Article title: You Can't Build A PS4: Why Sony's Next Console Is Truly Next-Gen And Your PC Isn't.

PC doesn't have generations as such, but already has hardware that far surpasses PS4. The title is misleading. Strike 1.

The cost evaluations are based on unknown factors, and conveniently overlook other important aspects. Strike 2.

"Titan.....has just 6GB of GDDR5 RAM"

Just? JUST?...

These aren't retail prices they are already calculated at bulk OEM prices. I.e the ones Sony would be expected to pay.

4859d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Yup. If it costs Sony $450+ just to build each one then add in package and shipping then tax..... if they sell it at $499/£350 they will still take a loss on each one. UK = 20 percent VAT before it gets near a retail shelf.

They can't afford to take a huge loss on hardware for years and years. This just isn't 2006 anymore.

I actually expected something like $499 for the base version and more for the top dog with bigger HDD etc.

Poor article. AWFUL title.

No, you cannot build a PC exactly the same as PS4. But to suggest that top end PC hardware is disadvantaged against PS4 hardware wise...sheesh.

For example the article actually downplays the idea of 6GB GDDR5 video memory on a Titan graphics card, as if PS4 has more. How does it?

That 6GB of GDDR5 on Titan is dedicated. Just for video memory. When PS4 is running with its OS overhead it might have 6-7GB of memory for...

It'll still matter, but less and less as the PS4's life continues. We are inevitably heading toward downloading most games.

It is a gradual process but much of the developed world is expect to have vastly superior internet access and speeds in 5 years.

The UK's speed is still actually rubbish compared to most of Europe but even that has made huge gains in 5 years.

It has nearly trebled in that time period and will only keep rocket...

Crytek aimed for the 2GB video memory figure @ 1080p and nailed it dead on.
