Xbox 360 has a GPU rated at 240 gigaflops, Xbox one at 1.23 teraflops. That isn't close to 8 times faster, more like 5 times, PS4 is about 8 times faster.
Xbox one has about 10 times more memory available for games, but only about 3 times as much system memory bandwidth to the DDR3.
Generally I would expect Xbox one is about 4-5 times faster than 360.
Don't make movies we get to play. Make games we want to play. You are a games developer not a playable movie developer. Simples.
It only works in a very limited way.
Sony are just saying whatever you can do online- we can do too. Don't try and push it as a selling point :)
We knew this anyway didn't we though?
No exclusive cloudssss for Microsoft!!!
"pretty much every commercial racing wheel will work with DriveClub"
Yet another important feature for a lot of racing game nuts. At the moment its not looking great for a lot of wheel support on xbox one, or specifically Forza 5. Greenawalt danced around the question whether Fanatecs will work....not encouraging!
It was just a throwaway comparison. You took it faaaaaaaar too specific. Cars cost money to maintain too if you replace various worn parts with NEW (as you pointed out!!!), so you could say that with a PC. Don't be stupid and pedantic.
PC parts still have a used value, they still work after several years, they don't typically spontaneously combust, and they can work on the same games they played when they were new after 10 years as well...

Sigh....how is a card obsolete just because its no longer the latest and greatest? People just never think.
Ok so Ford just brought out a F150 new model and stopped building the old F150. That's it then! Better scrap it! Useless now!
Nevermind the fact the old one is still worth several thousand dollars and can be traded in against the price of a new one and still actually works. A car is worth what after 18 months and average mileage? Half what it was ne...
I just think this used game thing killing the industry is cobblers. Utter rubbish nonsense apologists saying it.
Fact is PC has a very minimal used games market, and it does struggle somewhat for support. PC gaming isn't dead or dying, but it isn't dominating either. It has a very specific and rightful market.
Now I am a PC gamer, I love it (it has its ups and downs), but MOST of the real money is on developing and publishing console games. It is a la...
The article wasn't that good. Especially the part that attempts to explain how used games are damaging the industry so badly it forces developers out of business.
This is simply hyperbole.
Claiming that developers are 'losing money' because of used games, is also bypassing the debate of whether you have the right to resale something like a game or not. Personally I believe you have that right.
Claiming that used games get sold on ...
They didn't win yet.
Microsoft merely got a great deal of wheelspin while Sony got a much cleaner jump off the line.
The race is only heading towards the first corner, with Sony ahead. Long way to go yet.
Games matter hugely but we are still months from launch so it hurts nobody waiting to see more of the games available before they come out. Quality > Quantity in my book.
Sony I suspect have even more to show when they are ready. They don't even have a launch date for their machine yet!
We have Gamescom and Tokyo game show to come before the end of September. TGS in particular is Sony's home show effectively so we will no doubt see more of all thes...
It helps give the impression the game is backed better on Microsoft's machine, and hides any noticeable differences in visuals or development progress for example if they aren't running side by side on the floor.
I would imagine professional journalists who are actually good at their job however should and will go out of their way to ask about the 'other' version and how that is shaping up...

Its an AMD branded game on PC sooo....hardly expect Nvidia hardware in there.
Battlefield 3 was AMD branded too, but it ran better on equivalent Nvidia hardware.
Looks alright.
No wow like the first time I saw Project Gotham 3 in action back in 2005 however :-(
This is just....ok.
But to be honest, the law of diminishing returns is in full effect these days and Xbox one is only 4-5 times faster than 360, a bunch of that is already eaten up just by going from 720p to 1080p. Not to mention the fact Forza 4 is built with years of knowledge of Xbox 360 and exploits that hardware much better than Forza 5 n...
Good point frosty. 1080p is just the vertical resolution. GT5 ran 1280 x 1080 natively. You can claim anything is 1080p if that is what its vertical resolution is.
Be nice to see if it does actually run 1920 x 1080 but I have my suspicions it does not and the horizontal is upscaled. Even 1280 x 1080 like GT5 is a reasonable boost though over 1280 x 720. Virtually 50 percent more.
We'll probably have to wait until the thing is launched to see what it actua...
We don't have confirmed clockspeeds. We don't. All we have is strong rumours the GPU core was supposed to be 800mhz.
I say strong, because the specs that were leaked 6 months ago turned out to be dead on with every other architecture spec, cited this speed as well.
Clockspeeds way back then however were still just a moving target, you tried to hit it, but if you had problems or it turned out better you could alter clockspeeds very last minute without ...
I just can't see the difference between buying a used game and buying a used book to be honest. Or even borrowing it from the library for FREE. If the book industry were like the games industry they would ban all used book sales and demand the closure of all free public libraries where you can take books out.
I don't feel guilty buying a used book or borrowing it from the library as if I am stealing from the person that wrote the book. Somebody already bought that boo...
PS4's GPU is just too superior to not notice it even in multi platform games. I expect even the laziest of devs to extract more resolution and better framerates out of the PS4 hardware, even if they do nothing else.
People don't seem to be able to understand the difference in their heads very well or visualise it, so there are some good visualisations out there. 1.8 aint much more than 1.2 right? Wrong.

If by less than stellar you mean 'beats the pants off the FX-8350' it sure has.
A clock increase on an inferior AMD architecture is reminiscent of the days when Intel desperately did the same to their Pentium 4's....right down to the ludicrous heat and utterly preposterous power consumption.
220 watts is hilarious for a CPU. Haswell would probably be just as fast for less than half the power draw...
You don't require a games machine. You don't require a games console full stop. You don't require games of any kind to live your life.
But you can have these things if you are lucky enough or privileged enough or wealthy enough.
You don't require such high resolutions, you don't require multiple monitors.
But you can only have them on a PC with a card this fast.
So stop being so bitter about it and socia...
You are comparing an AMD architecture to an Nvidia one. They don't compare directly like that.
This card is more comparable in performance to something like a Radeon 7950 boost which has 1792 shaders, 112 TMUs, 32 ROPS and 384 bit memory bus.
This particular Nvidia card is much faster than the Radeon based GPU in PS4.
