Technically the game is a massive achievement. When the generation started I wouldn't have really believed a game like GTA5 would have been possible looking as pretty as it does but it does. But advances of tricks like installations and streaming, post process AA and much better tools means it fits inside 240 odd megabytes of video memory on PS3. Lulwut!!

Its not got the greatest framerate ever but its fairly consistent which is more important. Its perfectly playable and ...

At some point it's easier to move to a wider bus than keep pushing the speed of the memory modules. Nvidia favour larger buses over pushing memory speed or they have in the past on their faster cards.

I expect them to move to larger buses and you can use slower memory and still easily have a huge amount more bandwidth. So an AMD card with similar memory speeds as a 7970 but a bus twice as wide may have something like 500gb/s memory bandwidth. In fact Nvidia Maxwell in 201...

It's an interesting read. What I got out of it is this: if the developer is incredibly talented and designs the game for this hardware and exploits every small trick and squeezes every design win, the gap will be smaller than you all think. But there will still be a gap.

By implication it confirms my suspicions that in reality Sony's hardware is infinitely more simple to use.

Despite them saying they are mystified why people have claimed their hardwar...

I mooted this exact scenario ages ago. I said that devs on Xbox one are probably going to target 1600 X 900 and pixels will be stolen. It's a launch game but expect to see more games like this.

I predicted PS4 would have 1080p versions of games while Xbox one settled for 1600 X 900 more often than not on multi and exclusives just because it's hardware is much more suited to lesser resolutions.

I remember a few years ago, long before PS4 was announced but its existence was becoming inevitable, Sony repeated one thing about any possible new console.

They said over and over, WE WILL NOT BE OUT LAST.

They knew that that huge delay really hurt PS3 initially, it really hurt their potential allowing rivals to get traction for a whole year. They weren't going to let that happen again.

Sony are basically taking an eraser over their prev...

"You know what it is? Sure he doesn’t know that, but you don’t know it either, and you don’t “know” what exactly the XB1’s parts are capable of. None of us do. "

Errr wasn't that the POINT OF MY POST? Glad you finally read it.

Penello can be an engineering genius who knows every transistor on Xbox one, but when he admits to not knowing PS4's CPU or sound capabilities but then claims Xbone is better and faster there we should sit there and la...

Unfortunately JamieL you fell into the trap of not reading what I wrote correctly. Why try and spin my comment to say that I don't know everything about the machine and use that as an argument against me when all I did was clearly outline the points where his post was flawed, and we KNOW it to be flawed.

I don't know PS4's clocks for sure, do you? Neither does Penello as HE said as much.

Yet here he is claiming more CPU performance. You think that...

Theres loads of potential!

Thats why we stuck in menu support and nothing else. If we think of something else we'll add it waaaay down the line. Look! We're innovating we is!

At a very basic level he says their CPU is faster- does he know PS4's clockspeeds? He said he doesn't, only a couple weeks back.

This leads onto the claim Xbox one has a better sound chip, and takes more load off the CPU. He knows this because he knows much more about Sony's custom chipset with its secondary processor like he apparently knows their finalised clocks? HMMM!!!

He said that having 50 percent more CUs doesn't equate to 50 percent p...

Someone cobbled him up some bullet points that are basically, a load of tosh. After his performance comments he had to come up with something so he got this written up and posted it.

More technical minded members on the forums are of course, tearing it to bits and labelling it tosh as they rightly should.

Adding up memory bandwidth (it doesn't work like that) and downplaying GPU performance differences (really it is significant) as well as straight up lie...

Is.....FIFA 13 with tweaks. Exactly as I could have told you a year ago.

I find tackling has been tweaked to make it a little easier, possibly because players have slightly poorer control when dribbling/receiving.

Shooting from distance seems a little harder to score, you have to be setup perfectly to get power behind the shot even with the best players otherwise its a bit slower and the GK can get something on it.

Graphics pretty similar, cr...

82 seems a teeny bit low for De Gea to me. I think 83 is fairer to be on par with Reina and Hart, HOWEVER, he is pretty young (one of the youngest on that list) and deserves more potential than he had in FIFA 13. He should have at least 87 potential IMO.

Lloris had ridiculous potential in FIFA 13, easily growing to 95.

PC will boss this game don't worry.

It still has to run on current gen consoles, which is why the minimum specs are basically the same as they were for BF3 two years ago.

Beyond that you'll just crank it to wherever your particular machine can handle. If you have a PC from the past 5 years it'll run better than existing consoles and a more modern one will beat up Xbone and PS4 as well.

I would imagine if you have a 7870 or better ...

It looks like Windows 8 tiles. As in, it IS the tiles. I can't imagine anything else I would hate to see more. Windows 8 tiles do my head in on a PC where they have no real place.

Don't get me wrong, they are more appropriate on Xbox one than they are on a mouse controlled Windows PC but the connection to that fail in my brain makes me dislike it.

I understand they want to create this theme amongst their products as a company but evoking the spirit of...

Yes we have known it. For ages. And tried to tell people that denied it or didn't believe it. Microsoft's damage control has been in effect.

Its not a secret. But this guy is another legit source and just opened that can of worms big time. 2

At this point MSAA is a bit too steep when a game is pushing these consoles so hard.

So I can only hope they will have some sort of FXAA. But in the end as long as the framerate is nice and smooth and the pop up isn't too severe, it'll be alright.

These consoles are absolutely ancient, and with luck we'll get next gen and a PC version sooner rather than later.

Playstation has a lot of ubiquitous franchises. For me however, the one still running that they are linked to in my mind is Gran Turismo because that particular game defined my Playstation 1 and 2 gaming experiences.

It still seems that this is true for many Playstation gamers. GT5 sold over 10 million copies on PS3, more than Halo Reach in the same sort of timespan.

GT can always count on the massive sales, same as Halo can.

Microsoft have been saying the exact same thing when it comes to Xbone and PS4 to explain away the difference in price and hardware performance. Its about the games. It is for sure- But I haven't seen a compelling game that uses Kinect yet.

Selling out seems like a bad thing in terms of profitability but it can be priceless in terms of media coverage. It creates a sense false or real, it doesn't matter, of a product in extreme demand.

This creates excitement in consumers when they manage to capture the product, buy it and get it home and open the box.

Seeing boxes and boxes sat on shelves not long after launch can easily generate negative PR.

Remember Tretton famously saying...
