Yes it costs more than PS4 by itself, yes its far, far faaaaar faster. You get what you pay for.
This wasn't even possible in 2005. There wasn't even a single GPU card twice as fast as Xbox 360 let alone one 3 times as fast.
It kinda shows how the new consoles are behind the curve compared to older generation, when there is a card on sale 3 times the power of the most powerful console a month before they even arrive!
I look at the pri...
It obviously looks better than the PS3 version with a bunch more effects and resolution, although he hasn't turned on vsync for whatever reason.
Its running on a laptop with a 750M GPU, which isn't even as fast as a now ancient GTX460 desktop card. Like the machine he is demoing it on is way slower than a modern $80 card like a GTX650.
The PS3 version will probably improve a little but the PC version has by far the most room to improve before its fini...
What if?
The what if didn't happen. It did pay off.
It paid off hugebigtime.
If Sony were building a console aimed more at games and that helped their gamble pay off, then more kudos to them. More win for them from me, as a gamer who wants a games console not a media box with compromised gaming hardware in it.
If I wanted a media box I would have one which was incredibly more powerful and much more flexible and open than ...
New consoles seemingly quite weak as they are will help enormously next year in pushing the graphics bar up for most games across PC.
You might complain still about ports from those consoles onto PC being a bit lazy and not incorporating much better visuals.
But then its better than ports originating on console hardware far weaker and 8 years old right? The new consoles are a win for PC gamers too.
At least all the devs will have to be setup ...
I have an older friend who used to drive trains and loves to build computers, so I mentioned this game a few years ago. He isn't a gamer at all really, but he setup his computer specifically to run this game (well, earlier versions) and he loves it.
I didn't get it. Seemed boring to me. But then I had a quick dabble with it last year when he shared his steam account with me and I sort of got it. Its not bad fun for a bit, although some of the scenarios are interminabl...
Environmentalists hate cars. Even as they drive around in their electric vehicles with their costly and energy sapping to produce battery material, shipped all over the planet for manufacture with various toxic chemicals and large carbon footprints.
But anyway- they should love car games. Because we can all race around, burn rubber, make lots of noise and wreck machinery virtually instead of for real.
Win for everyone!
PC games are much cheaper for me. You probably aren't looking in the right place.
F1 2013 costs less than 20 pounds at multiple places on PC.
I cant find for it less than £32 on Xbox 360 or PS3!!
I paid £27 for FIFA 14 on PC with a load of extra content and 24 UT packs.
Its at least a £10-12 more for the same version on the consoles.
I saved about 25 quid and thats only on two games in the ...
As above.
Notice the very carefully chosen wording-
"all the game features will be the same"
It sticks out to me that the word features is included. A normal way to say it would be the games are nearly identical, or the same. Or that there are no differences.
It was very specific saying "features."
Sigh, always the "balance."
I don't doubt Xbox one has a smartly engineered SoC but its mainly because they had to solve a problem they themselves created, namely using slow system memory.
He says that the 8GB choice was made early on, which instantly locked them into using DDR3 (only modules large enough at the time of the decision)
So, you are then trying to resolve the problem of having insufficient memory bandwidth for even ...

PS4's CPU theoretical 'peak' flops might appear half decent but in practical applications CPU performance is way, way more than just peak flops performance. CELL didn't teach you that?? That measurement in terms of CPU is far less useful than it would be for GPU compute.
I can tell you now a five year old intel i7 920 quad core rated at 'just' 40 gigaflops would utterly destroy the 8 core in PS4 at virtually anything yo...
If you look at the graph then you can see it clearly isn't fully loading 8 threads of the AMD 8350. Its loading one to 95 percent, one to 77 and the rest to 50-60.
The 6 'core' AMD FX6300 is fully loaded but then it would be, its much slower than the 4 core 8 thread Intel tested (the i7 2600k) which also doesn't manage to load every core/thread near 100 percent. Between 60-70 percent, much like the FX 8350. SURPRISE!! Not.
Basically this game ...
I wasn't planning on holding my breath for at least 2 years, but you're dead wrong here, sorry.
The only reason it hasn't actually come already is because Valve have preferred to explore the L4D and Portal IPs as well as branch to DOTA2, being easier and faster to create and improve on well worn and well trod technology and territory.
They know that Half Life 3 would be a major undertaking, many many years in development from start to finish. They...
It IS coming. It IS.
But not for another 2 years minimum.
Valve work in a crazy fluid way, if you read their intro for new employees they basically gather round and toss ideas and then build what they feel in groups instead of following a tight corporate structure.
This means that in order for them to make Half Life 3, a big group of them have to agree and want to do it, and they have to agree on a good idea.
Secondly, Valve ...
Well.....I did say exactly this only a couple months back suggesting that the difference in multiplatform titles will probably come down to Xbone running most games in lower resolutions.
The difference is unlikely to be as much as 720p versus 1080p on PS4- thats more than double the resolution after all.
But theres a good chance if Xbone does about 1280 x 720 PS4 should be able to do something like 1600 x 900. If PS4 does 1920 x 1080 Xbone might be able to do...
Your console isn't going to be playing ALL the latest games in 10 years. Chances are you would have already spent another $400-500 yourself on a new generation one long before then. Chances are you already replaced the first console you bought with another because it broke or you wanted a model upgrade. Just sayin. I know I have, and would have.
Only argue about cost for yourself, because it varies person to person. Do I find value spending maybe $1000 INITIALLY on a PC t...
Graphics cards have incorporated onboard sound processing for several years now, mainly due to offering all in one HDMI out for home theatres. Its usually only on par with integrated sound, which is why a lot of people still go with a dedicated sound card for the best audio from their machines.
It seemed inevitable that graphics cards would eventually incorporate superior sound processing, its quite welcome if it raises the bar above your standard motherboard integrated fare....
Are you a moderator now wandering about telling people they can't talk about or even mention in passing dual GPU cards? Is that your sole genuine concern about this article and your first comment in days and in here- to moan about a single sentence written by me?
A mere mention of one in a single sentence out of a comment with a bunch of other observations?
Its an article about a high end graphics card and my overall comment was focused on them. Pfff the ...
Proof or it didn't happen. Seriously claiming it without seeing all the benches yet?? They went for a 512 bit memory bus but like I suggested last week, slower memory to save costs there.
It should be very fast as its a revised generation intended for major production while Titan is essentially a consumerised highly limited edition GK110, first seen in Tesla form about 18 months ago.
There has been plenty of talk recently about Nvidia shoving two GK110 di...
PC will always have better graphics. Its a fact. Pointless arguing over it. End of that discussion.
Its also a fact that these new consoles are behind the technology curve before they even hit the shelves unlike generations that preceded them.
Does this really matter? Probably not much.
Should you talk a bunch of crap that only consoles have good games worth playing? Should you make up a load of balls about how much PC gaming costs because yo...
Its been submitted to Steam Greenlight so wait until thats actually gone through, and they will show gameplay end of this month (28th to be precise).
People seem to forget that this game probably wouldn't be available for a year or more even if its greenlit there.
So the engine is perfectly realistic within PC technology of the next year or so.
The fastest single GPU in the world has 3x the performance of PS4 and its out next week.
