The PC version will run whatever you select.

It'll no doubt be a bit more demanding than BF3 but current mainstream cards (7950 boost, GTX760 etc) can generally run BF3 maxed @ 1920 x 1080 with a minimum of about 60FPS and averages of 70+.

What now is that they'll finish the remaining assets of the game(feature complete), then optimise what they have got and see what resolution they can actually push, probably a custom resolution on both Xbone and PS4.

BF4 @ 1080p was never confirmed on the consoles, despite everyone saying 1080/60!

This new generation is absolutely no guarantee of full, native 1920 x 1080. PS3/360 were SUPPOSED to be 1280 x 720p consoles, but a huge list of games are signi...

Looking forward to this. If for no other reason it'll give us a great idea how Xbone actually stacks up against a decent gaming PC. I'll be playing it on PC personally but will be very curious about how the versions will compare

All I'll say is that if the cloud were such an enormous performance advantage, why would Microsoft even bother to increase their GPU clocks by a measely 6 percent. Seems a whole lot of potential bother if you are confident your cloud will destroy the competition.

Or that the very fact Xbox one has a bluray drive says that Microsoft are not quite confident and ready enough to give up physical copy distribution.

Ask yourself why? Maybe because a large propo...

They aren't likely to spend money on revamping the engine heavily until there are enough people to buy it on the next gen platforms. Same thing happened on 360 launch.

Because of the way the generation transitions, its easier to use the old engine with better rez and assets, and only replace the engine with something built for next gen after a year of people buying the machine.

It looks very pretty and if the world is as expansive as they have said it'll surely be one of the better titles to pick up at launch.

This might get me slaughtered, but the leap over Forza 4 seems pretty small in context of the game being on considerably more expensive next generation hardware 8 years newer than 360.

I mean yes, the resolution has doubled. Which should really be expected. Ignoring the fancy menu and car show off modes that existed in Forza 4 anyway and used extreme detail models you never had actually in game (autovista) it isn't exactly a leap over Forza 4 visually.

It...

"he replies to that a few post down in the same tweet seems it is 1080p"

What he precisely says is that it "SEEMS" the game is going to "HAVE" 1080p.

This is still ambiguous. Plenty of current gen games are said to have 1080p, because in other words, they support it. Which also in other words, means they merely upscale to it.

I want to see DICE definitively come and say, this game is 60FPS, and it runs natively i...

Direct X is just an API, whatever it does on Xbone for example tiled resources as has been touted you can create equivalent features on other hardware like a PS4. The API is tweaked in time, it advances along for developers much like the development tools.

But huMA has to be designed from the ground up into the hardware. If the hardware can't do it, it just can't do it, ever.

This is the sort of thing you just won't see early on in the life cycle....

I think you fail to understand the simple fact I presented, in that a gaming PC is not a games console. Games might indeed be led, designed and created for a specific set of console hardware, but for it to even run to a PC in a multiplatform guise, its very nature has to be generalised to the vast varieties of configurations, architecture differences and variants used in the PC market.

This quickly waters down any specific technologies targeted on console for a PC version. Fo...

APU solutions were chosen for their price performance ratio rather than their outright performance as per the previous generation of consoles with separate main processors.

Sony and Microsoft were looking for the cheapest option for their required performance to limit the impact of manufacturing new consoles and avoid the significant losses incurred on hardware with PS3 and X360.

AMD are the company in the best position to provide an APU with an x86 CPU and a...

Unlikely. The PC is a market unto itself, where Nvidia graphics hardware make up a much larger percentage and Intel processors something like 80 percent(Eighty!). Also you are always addressing PC graphics hardware via various driver level layers, which masks the differences of architectures on PC so they essentially do the same operations and reach the same conclusions even if the hardware has variations of how they are actually performed. If this wasn't the case you would never be able ...

It is frustrating.

How can you promise a series of episodes, deliver just two, and end the second on a cliff hangar to boot forcing a wait of 6 years and counting to even continue the story?

I am sure they will get round to closing the arc, it is a fight I want to finish in one way or another and have some questions answered more than any game series ever created because the quality is so high. The bar is so high.

We better have a new Half Li...

I bought GTA4 on PS3 launch day, then traded it for the PC version as soon as it was available and kept the PC version.

However seeing the 360 version had better performance of GTA4, I bought the DLC as standalones on 360, then again traded it for the PC version of the DLC later.

I'll do the same here, but probably go for the PS3 version with GTA5.

Seems to me Rockstar got a better handle on PS3 now, hopefully it should at least match the...

Nvidia have better margins on many of their higher end existing cards though, for example the GTX670, 680, 760 and 770 have a die size of just 294mm squared, versus 352mm squared for 7970/7950 variants which aren't really any faster. 3.5 billion Nvidia transistors doing roughly what AMD needing 4.3bn to do.

This means that the Nvidia chip is almost certainly a bit easier and cheaper to manufacture, makes it easier for Nvidia to respond to any AMD price cuts.

Games matter the most. Its that simple.

PS2 became the biggest selling console of all time because it had more of the best games. Having DVD playback contributed a little, but Xbox had that. Price helped a little, but PS2 was not always the cheapest console either, Dreamcast and Gamecube were cheaper, Xbox cost the same after 6 months or so.

No, it wasn't the media features or gimmicks or the price, it was simply the games. PS2 sold way faster than PS3 an...

Well we learned the gameplay capture is also limited to 720p/30FPS on Xbone. Not sure if I saw that detail before, I'm also unsure if PS4 captures in 1080p/30FPS, but it seems that very first Killzone stream registered as 1080p on youtube.

It could have also done 720p and then upscaled to 1080p before uploading the video to Youtube but the quality of the video suggested it was in fact a native capture.

Anyone seen anything to suggest otherwise? 720p captu...

53 megahertz is 6.62 percent increase over a base of 800mhz. This is pretty insignificant, hardly seems worth the effort.

All it says to me is that Microsoft know they are down on performance to PS4, and are squeezing to do everything they possibly can to close the gap. Why 53 megahertz? Why not just 50? Because thats how much they are squeezing here, to the maximum they can get from their design.

Overclocks don't yield linear performance increases, so a ...
