Hardware tesselation most likely. DirectX 11 class hardware made extreme polygon counts on individual models possible the past few years.

You can now lavish ridiculous amount of polygons that wouldn't have been easily possible without it. Crysis 2 on PC in 2011 started with having some objects with huge amounts of polys a few years back because of it.

What you on with Tzunoy? Power consumption difference between GTX670 and 760 is very little. It is in line with the fact the GTX670 is a bit faster.

Guess why GPUs die fast?

Err....they don't. Not unless they are faulty. Both are rated to 170w TDP which frankly isn't a lot these days when higher end cards are easily 200+.

I only mentioned this because there might still be a few 670s out there going cheaper than the 760, and they are a...

There isn't much too much reason to get a 760 over a 670 if you can find a cheap GTX670. They are getting much harder to find but they are still cleared out some places and a bit faster than a 760.

I think my first link above put well to rest the idea Battlefield 4 needs a killer CPU, when it clearly does not. DirectX 11 helps a lot with this, but battlefield 3 was the same. CPU performance hardly mattered over and above a pretty low threshold even with high end cards.

Oh, and if you think that those benches were performance with a low end graphics card to hide lower CPU performance bottlenecking Sykoticz, since when was an R9 290X a low end card? Because that is clearl...

Buy a 780ti, add 52mhz to the boost clock with MSI afterburner, very very easily.

Job done lol.

At this performance level, it's hardly going to be critical either is it? 780ti is a beast.

Nvidia are just playing a joke on the people that want 'THE' best here. At least with the first Titan, it was quite a bit faster than the next card below.

The only reason to buy this is for the compute. But even then, it'll ...

You are better off with a Radeon 7850 2Gb though.

It's faster for not much more money if you find the right place to buy. The Radeon has so much more memory bandwidth because it has a 256bit bus.

This card is for people who are concerned more about getting the best performance for the lowest power consumption, not the best bang for their buck.

It is a good omen for the rest of the future Nvidia cards however.

As for the r...

Lol it's only gonna be the tiniest bit faster than a 780ti for $300 more in games. I don't mean even like 10 percent here, I mean like a tiny amount. It's clockspeeds are barely better than a 780ti.

But then Nvidia love milking the rich nutters/compute people out there for a premium. It's aimed at compute, clearly.

The problem Microsoft have is that even WITHOUT kinect, Xbox One isn't really much cheaper to actually manufacture than PS4.

Believe it or not the APU costs a bit MORE than the main APU in PS4, because it's slightly larger despite being slower.

Microsoft are in a massive bind. If they stick with Kinect and this price, they always retail a lot more and have a less powerful machine.

If they stick with Kinect and lower the price, they lo...

I still fail to understand why the borders are being embraced. They never were back in the olden days, in PAL regions when bad ports meant many PAL games ended up bordered.

What is rendered is 1920 x 800.

In games, the geometry rendered is what defines the native resolution of a game, not the final output like for example a bluray film. Therefore this GAME has a considerably lower native resolution than 1920 x 1080 and it's real aspect ratio is 2.4:1.

4502d ago 3 agree2 disagreeView comment

I think the difference could possibly be more than just resolution, because I have heard that the PS4 version will basically be locked out to 30FPS as it has an excess of performance, while the Xbox One version reaches 900p, but has a less consistent framerate.

You may not notice something like that in a video but you may very well when playing them.

We will find out in time I guess. Not long!

Dat 'Xbox turn off' video

LOL!

Trololol music me = heart

All I'll say on the matter of Kinect is this-

Titanfall, Microsoft pushing it as their premiere title, their saviour, their big triple A exclusive right?

Kinect functionality?

Zero.

Figure me that. Explain why their machine hinges on kinect but the title they are shouting from the rooftops just...ignores it ...

This is Black Monday for Microsoft.

4 major multiformat titles are outed with inferior resolution on Xbox One.

First MGS, then Thief, now The Witcher 3 and Watchdogs.

This is a brutal day to be at Microsoft HQ as the news trickles in:

My view is that The Order is not a movie, it's a game. Therefore the argument about cinematic quality and style thanks to black bars is not valid in my eyes.

Black bars were never welcome when old ports in the past console eras to PAL systems left some games with them (because of the different resolutions and refresh rates NTSC and PAL systems used.) Most of the time magazines and such decried them as lazy porting, inferior localisation.

Which they were. ...

Like I said, Microsoft PR had to have a plan to deal with this, but they didn't.

Soon as they said they didn't go after high end graphics and knew Sony's machine was faster, they should have been forming a plan and marketing that meant they were able to counter the constant wave of inferior multiformat games that were INEVITABLE.

All they seemed to keep saying was that there was no power difference, that it didn't exist.

Not sure about your maths there sobekflakmonkey...

1600 x 1200 and 1680 x 1050

They are both higher resolutions with more pixels than 1920 x 800 BTW.

1600 x 1200 is actually not far off 1920 x 1080 in terms of size. It is just a different screen ratio.

4:3.

1280 x 1024 is also larger than a couple of the resolutions you posted above it.

35-45FPS is a bit of a blow for inside the Titans themselves, kind of the whole selling point of the game.

BUT this is a beta lets not forget. I'll reserve any performance scepticisms for the final product, which is claimed to have better resolution too.

As most would realise, I am a PC gamer primarily, and the game is another advert for PC gaming IMO.

When the article says even a lowly £110 Radeon 7850 coupled with a lower end CPU c...

1440 x 900 is a 16:10 screen ratio.

I'll just point out 'normal' 900p is 1600 x 900 if by 'normal' you mean the screen ratio is 16:9.

I assume that is what you meant because 16:9 is the most common widescreen ratio for TVs. 1280 x 720 and 1920 x 1080 are both true 16:9 ratio resolutions.

Therefore 1600 x 900 = 1440000 pixels. Slightly less than 1920 x 800.

Personally I would always prefer the full resoluti...

I'll be honest, the game IS mostly AI kills from what I have played on PC. You do have to go hunting (go out of your way) a bit to find the 'real' kills and that would often mean bypassing easy AI kills.

I'm not sure this is a great thing. AI pads out the game and makes it more accessible for certain- it stops noobs getting annihilated and helps new players.

On the other hand however, that's part of the challenge of a shooter, the learning...

The 'blur' is called....low native resolution.

The sharpness was artificially applied by the scaler.

The new image is generally considered better, because it more closely represents how the game is rendered, sub HD blur and all.

The other reason why it is preferred is because you can still 'sharpen' the image by the settings on your HDTV to return back the old feel if thats what you desire. You can fiddle individual TV setting...
