I would say once the 20nm node is mature then mobile devices will have graphics performance as good as the previous generation consoles.
But that's probably a year away despite the iphone 6 using a 20nm process.
You have to take into account the fact most games of that console generation were 720p or less, but mobile games on high end smartphones at their native screen res will be considerably higher.
Current cores like the 28nm Adreno 33...
I'm more impressed that a printer can run Doom. It's 21 years old but still.
Does that mean in 21 years I'll have a printer that can run Driveclub?
Sometimes you do get tired of this monster you create though. He worked on Minecraft for years, and even gave that up within his own company as soon as he could.
"I can’t be responsible for something this big"
This line says a lot.
Sounds like a man looking to move away from this beast he created, so why not sell up his stake in Mojang and go do something he really wants to?
He's a zillionaire now, set for life....
The problem I might have with this is that I would be taking 4GB cards as a minimum now, even if they were midrange. A 4GB version of a GTX960 would be smarter.
The consoles are forcing very high video memory demands on games that would otherwise run maxed easily on midrange cards. Watch Dogs, Wolfenstein, Dead Rising 3 etc
GTA4 on PC did something very similar in 2008, you really needed a 1GB card to get the most of it, and quickly after 1GB cards became de ...
You do realise the Russians can still put a human into space and the Americans....can't, right?
Parity is more likely a marketing decision than a hardware one.
I have seen bigger differences in most games on 360/PS3 and those two are closer matched than PS4/Xbox One hardware wise, for sure....
Well when you are as rich as Paul, you don't need more money. All you need is love.
Maxwell is vastly more efficient performance per watt than Kepler.
Indeed, the crowing over GTX750Ti was not about it's overall performance, but how it was as fast as Kepler and AMD cards that used double the power.
For a 170w card to handily beat GTX780Ti is a real feat, it only means good news for future Maxwell based cards that up the thermal ceiling above 200 watts.
If 10 percent faster than a 780ti is weak then I'll gladly take weak....
Fact is and you have been told before that this is not the fastest Maxwell that will appear. This part should beat the 780ti, but use just a whole lot less power, be cooler for it, cheaper to make and have another 1GB video memory than the reference 3GB 780ti.
Nvidia have another, larger Kepler to launch, and no doubt much larger Maxwell dies to eventually come next year that will t...
Yeah, a lot of people that left Eden Games make up Ivory Tower but we will have to wait and see how The Crew turns out. I played quite a bit of the beta and it didn't quite grab me like TDU managed to. I'm willing to give it a chance though.
I like the feel of open world style games being able to cruise with your friends on the open road. TDU was a really niche style of game not many others have caught on with and the original is something like 8 years old.
...
Looks really good. Not mindblowing visually like some people say, but then I have been used to PC for a long time.
This always reminded me of the GRID games, where all the colourful graphics are obviously torn from, and the TDU games on PC. I loved those, I really enjoyed the first Horizon and TDU2 particularly, amazing to think it's over 3 years old now.
Eden games closed in 2013, apparently it may have reopened though recently so there is hope for a TDU...
I scored plenty of goals but the goalkeepers are highly powered compared to previous games. There is no question about it. Even if you line up the shot and get perfect contact from outside the box the keepers rarely fail to get something on it.
As for the pace thing, the differential is too large again. I'm not talking about selling someone the wrong way and getting in, I'm talking about just running past a slower defender like they aren't there and they can't...
GKs are seriously OP compared to FIFA 14. They just save everything. They position perfectly. They get an arm or a hand or a foot to....everything.
The ball rebounds away ever so softly each time as well which makes it vastly harder to snaffle one.
The defence AI is as dumb as ever, but the GKs are so supercharged you'll get a million chances and they'll save tonnes.
Also, the speed players are over powered again. FIFA 14 mitigated t...
I always play this on PC now. It's probably one of those games you go where your friends go, but there seems to be less annoying players on the PC version than the times I have had it on console.
That and it is a lot cheaper to buy. If you use the ol Mexican VPN origin trick you can get the ultimate edition for nearly half the price of the same console version in the UK.
It has always run really well surprisingly too, FIFA 14 always ran locked out for me ...
R6ex, it's a massive performance per watt improvement. It's a 170w card that's quicker than an R9 290X and 780ti. These are both 250w+ cards.
You'll see the huge raw performance gains when they get around to releasing the 250w Maxwells....They will come, but probably not for at least 6 more months.
Understand that this is akin to the GTX680 aka GK104. This is not the 'top' size Maxwell die. It's TDP is allegedly just 170w, 80w less than a 780ti! I find that impressive, considering it'll be 10 percent faster.
GTX680 was superceded by the 'top' size kepler the GK110 after about a year, first the Titan, then the 780 using that design.
Therefore GTX980 will be slightly faster than a 780ti, but use an awful lot less power.

I always thought Hazard was a tad high when he was 87 but now he's an 88. When you see Di Maria as only an 86 and he just had an amazing season at Real Madrid, winning the Champions league and has supplied more assists in La Liga for the past 4 seasons combined than anyone except Messi.....erm...how is Hazard 2 clear points better?
He's a class act but more like Di Maria should be an 87/88 and Hazard an 86/87.
He's higher rated than Bale FFS who s...
Meh. Most people don't realise how this sort of thing works. When you can cherry pick shots of the game in it's very best light with it's highest quality models that you can't get in gameplay, most do.

This is classic of the Forza games, most games really. The models used in the close ups and photo mode are significantly better than the ones in game, it go...
Xbox One is what, $400 without kinect?
A $300 GPU (aka GTX770) can comfortably do this 1080p/30 locked out which is more than double the resolution and 50 percent better minimum framerate.
So hardly 3 times the price now is it...
At this rate Microsoft are going to have to send a technical team to every third party developer in the world to try and get Xbox One versions closer to PS4.
Sounds expensive.
Would probably have been cheaper just building a faster console. But hey.
