IMO the water doesnt look particularly better than just cause 2 on PC with CUDA enabled, or far beyond what we saw in bioshock several years ago- For whatever reason the LATEST video of it seems to have the surface complexity and transparency effects (like bubbles, splashes etc) of the water cut down, or distinctly unimpressive. The way the wave effects are implemented also looks very odd to my eyes.

Please watch this one month old trailer before you disagree.....

The title at the source is:

Hydrophobia Will Initially Be Xbox 360 Exclusive

The title of this on N4G is:

Hydrophobia Will Be Xbox 360 Exclusive

One word missing, pretty damn important one. Go figure?

RSX is the single most expensive chip in PS3 to manufacture, so this is good news. Its also the most power hungry. This shrink puts PS3 under full load at less than 90 watts- PS3's cooling has always seemed to have plenty of wiggle room, but now it only has to dissipate a mere 85w or so that will reduce in cost too. That also means it uses 25 percent less power than even a jasper 360. Sony have shrunk Ps3 quickly and efficiently. Good stuff.

Although unlike most people here, i probably wouldnt buy it on XBL/PSN i would be chuffed to bits because with a bit of luck, it will devalue the originals somewhat so i can finally grab me a pristine dreamcast copy that i so foolishly sold off several eons ago.

Unless i have miscalculated and it will force up the price even more. It shouldnt really.

This is a gaming site right? Well truth is many Pc gamers like to keep with the cutting edge, Many are playing with DX11 hardware on DX11 operating systems. OpenGL has fallen behind the past few years and Direct X is running away with developer support. Performance is also important(Lets be honest, its nearly everything on PC), as is regular driver updates. In other words WINE isnt the perfect solution for gamers. WINE is only merely 'ok' for games, clunky at best. Whether you really like it ...

Flash wins, especially USB because most machines have USB beyond ten years back now. This is also not to mention these days encrypted USB flash drives are fairly secure which can be a factor for business use.

Killzone 2 looks good but it can run rather sluggishly sometimes. Uncharted 2 looks better and runs rock solid. Lets face it though, neither touches Crysis (2007) with settings bumped. We have yet to really see ingame Crysis 2 properly, on PC, full whack settings have we?

Silly ubisoft :-) the higher profile the DRM and better publicised, the juicier the target appears for hackers. It was inevitable that something this intrusive was going to attract, shall we say, extra special attention from the hackers

People download demos to get a taste of a game free, in order to decide if its worth their well earned cash. It also reduces the likelyhood of piracy on some titles, because of lot of people just want to try before coughing up any cash.

Having to pay for any even 'extended' demo is thus a seriously flawed business model...

"lol dual cores overpowering console??"

Its clear you know very little about PC, or technical matters as it is. 360's processor is extremely small, and slow compared to a modern dual core for gaming. Three tiny in order cores with a piddling 1Mb cache versus a desktop X86 dual, even like a creaky old pentium D? Not nearly as fast. Just how a tiny dual core in order intel atom is still slower than an ancient single core pentium 4.

CELL is a hybrid. Its s...

'Nice link TD I seen something very eye opening though. Less than 6% of the the people on that survery play their games in 1080p and that most of the games are being played between resolutions of 720 and 1080i. Also most have dual cores which is hardley enough power to output games higher than normal console specs. PC gamers like to brag ya we have the "potential" to do 1080p @ 30-60 in almost any game but how many really can do that. I bet most pc gamers here have slightly above av...

Crysis 2 on console 'looked impossible...'

Which if you finish the sentence for them goes something like this......but we figured out a bunch of compromises against the PC version and cut content from it so its the same on consoles. Sad but also surely true, at least for fans of the original

Its still a bunch of shots we have seen from areas many times now. It should be a fine looking title, if a little brown again in places. This generation developers have really excelled themselves redefining the meaning of high definition brown so hopefully alan wake has many areas of non brown-ness which would suit me just fine

Most of these sales are gonna be budget cards, and mostly- to OEMs (Dell, HP, Acer etc) This is however normal. There nothing like having a 'DX11 ready' sticker on the box to sell machines to uninformed consumers. Its one better than DX10 see? Lol. This also explains why Ati have sold so many, for the past few months being the only one shipping quantities of DX11 cards for OEMs they are in great demand, and it will continue until nvidia launch more mainstream DX11 parts.

Howeve...

Boxed copies have been going for that price for quite a while now though. Seen them on and off in stock and out. Play.com recently sold out for 9.99 but expect more stock next week. Amazon too. If you want it now and dont mind downloading its a good deal, but its also 16Gb worth of game to download. Bear that in mind...

I still prefer me boxes though if i can. GTA4 PC has a rather pleasing embossed card slipcase. Nice game to own boxed

Seemed obvious to me unreal engine 3 has been crafted heavily around 360. It was epic who asked microsoft to increase 360's RAM. They consulted on the hardware design.

Gears of war was the first unreal engine 3 game i believe, closely followed by roboblitz and rainbow six vegas. These games only had 360 as their console platform at that time. Gears was hailed as the best looking game ever when it arrived late 2006 and it was only on one platform- 360. It then came out that epic...

What this article fails to note is that many multiplatform engines were originally lead and built FOR xbox 360. Unreal engine 3 was worked on immensely for 360's architecture and then ported across to other platforms. Epic built the engine and then built a 360 specific game with it, improving the SDK for other developers as they went along for Microsoft's machine. Only with sony's intervention was this engine better optimised for PS3 when they worked with epic on UT3. This is also not the onl...
