Crysis 2 on Pc and GT5 for me. RAGE on console, i have no idea how it is running 60 frames a second looking like it does but if it maintains that then it'll be a huge feat

Its Spa Francorchamps. Belgium grand prix. Widely regarded and voted as the best venue on the F1 calendar. The arrows on the road remind me a lot of the ones used in shift too!

Im assuming this isnt sim mode because there wasnt damage when the driver clattered the gearbox of another car, and the front wheels move in an odd proportion to the way the car goes around a corner!

Of course this has to deliver. Im confident it will. I remember my first experience with this series. I rented it. My friend and I could not stop playing it, long into the night, to try to obtain enough cash to buy one of the super special cars, the Castrol Supra GT :-) GT was one of the reasons to buy a dual shock, with analogue sticks and rumble. In fact it was THE reason to buy one at the time.

Really it was love at first play. GT3 was for me like millions of others, the...

Its just a tech demo though isnt it, and the configuration isnt strictly the same as what nintendo have in mind for the 3DS. Scripted tech demos dont incorporate actual gameplay where you have big levels and other characters, with their own AI etc using memory and CPU cycles. Building a game means allowing performance headroom for the maximum load that could happen randomly. A tech demo like this means you KNOW the exact maximum load at any one time, so its really easy to maximise performance...

Internal bus between the SPU and the controlling PPE is obviously huge but i was referring to the bandwidth between the processor as a unit and system memory. Typical bandwidth of a core 2 and dual DDR2 800mhz memory is about 7GB/s, a phenom which has an IMC (integrated memory controller) and dual channel 1333 DDR3 is about twice that and a core i7 with triple channel 1600mhz DDR3 over the 20GB/s mark.

In other words only the very fastest consumer desktop x86 processors and...

The source is suggesting that it costs 150 dollars per unit to MANUFACTURE?? This would surely mean microsoft taking a huge hit on these early models at retail, even if they were priced to 150 dollars @ retail factoring in packing, shipping and of course the price at which retailers will pay for them, which certainly wont be at cost otherwise they wont be very interested.

This however is not a huge surprise if true. Among the several reasons cited by sony and nintendo passi...

You have to develop games on something. This something would be workstation computers. The E3 version was definitely NOT the pc version.

Yeah microsoft, sure....whatever. I invented the internal combustion engine, the telephone and the internet. I just neglected to tell anyone about it. Sounds like one of those poor raving tipsy homeless man stories told around the street corner fire....

Its sort of common knowledge now to developers that the key to PS3's performance is in the SPU utilisation. If you treat it as a conventional system with a general purpose CPU and a dedicated GPU then it will be slow, slower than 360 without a doubt. Its been clear to the most talented developers for a while now that offloading tasks to the SPUs that conventionally the GPU would be given frees up a huge amount of GPU cycles for what it does best, mostly pixel shading and throwing triangle...

aaaaaaaaand if you read the article you should know that there is a difference between the words 'lifespan, lifecycle' of a console and the appearance of a new generation....This article suggests in the TITLE there will be no replacement, and microsoft will continue with 360 as their flagship machine through to 2015. Which is unlikely. If you read the text of the article instead of the header title created by the site themselves, the words used relate to the overall lifespan, and does...

Hope there is a stig time list to try and beat and special leaderboards for cars, with the fastest individual car model times up there by players online too. Want ghosts of stig and celebrity laps, maybe even some organised online play sessions on the track with celeb drivers off the show or the presenters themselves. Want to see online competition where the fastest players get to go to the studio and drive for real on the track.....Talking big time tie in, please!

Everyone...

I dont see it. Sony and nintendo will both launch new consoles before then, and microsoft will be forced into either the same action but far too late or disappear from the game. I would already be willing to bet they have plans on the table for a new machine. Its a concerted PR effort to focus attention on the current hardware and a real push to focus in on kinect, a PR assault to show how they truly believe kinect is the future of their brand.

The lure of a new generation ...

Is it actually that much smaller than the original design though?? Moving the hard drive has reduced the height by itself. I figure it'll be a lot lighter, but size wise it doesnt look like it has lost a great deal. I seen it next to a pad and a game box and a disc, we need comparison shots (i dont trust that engadget have the correct scale) to the old but it doesnt look much more than 20 percent or so all round. I hope that the motherboard revisions have finally killed off hardware probl...

Im honestly undecided what im actually going to be playing on 360 this year. All i can see is Halo Reach?? Not too fussed on the kinect cobblers, Gears 3 is 10 months away at least and Fable 3 is also on Pc, which is where im going to be playing it along with the Call of duty. Pc or Ps3 for MGR, depending on the PC conversion but otherwise PS3 because it 'feels' like Metal Gear's home platform and controls if you can understand that.

Interesting to hear about a ...
