Every game is gonna work? Lol. Go tell that to AC Unity, Fallout 4, and Borderlands the Pre-Sequel. Not to mention things like the sometimes dismal cross console ports (like say, Bayonetta and Dragon's Dogma.) Games that can be fixed, often within hours, on PC via mods.

Best Exclusives? Have you even played 1% of the sheer volume of PC exclusives? I'm going to assume the answer is no, and ask you how you would know then? What you mean is the exclusives with the bigg...

Nope. Skies of Arcadia is the only pirate game, all others and any who play them are inferior and to be shunned.

If I bought the game, what does it matter when the game came out.

No. Fuck that. That's not how capitalism works. They aren't asking for my respect in excange for a product, they're asking for my money, and I get to do whatever I want with it, including emuating it if that provides the better experience. If they don't want me emuating it, provide a better experience than the emulator does.

That is, quite simply, not an issue. It's a t...

It's really not. Especially with the specific types of artifacts caused by checkerboarding making that particular method very easy to spot. Maybe I can illustrate it with math.
3200X1800 (1800p at 16:9) is 5,760,000 pixels.
4096X 2160 (4k at 16:9) is 8,847,360 pixels.

That is a 1.5X increase in resolution. Put another way, 1800p is 65% of 4k. That is a very big difference in terms of what is being rendered. Granted, there are diminishing returns on ...

By playing the games? I don't need to stop and lick every wall with my noes shoved against a screen to notice jagged edges caused by any form of upscaling. I'll see it playing the game normally. If the camera ever decides to focus on an object for example, or if it's something like an FPS where there is always a gun up close to the character, I notice things like jagged edges. I notice framerate just by looking at the game, the difference between 30 and 60 is painfully obvious, es...

If you wanna see the difference almost instantly, your best bets are particle effects and edges. How close you are to your screen and the size of the screen matter. (A 23 inch 4k TV has *way* higher pixel density than a 53 inch 4k TV, and the image is smaller, which will both minimize the impact of the subnative resolution by making jaggies and inconsitent particle effects less obvious at any distance, and by making them smaller so they're harder to see unless you're licking the scree...

If I create something (and I have) my goal is not to have it hogged on one place that provides an objectively inferior experience for them. I have something to communicate, and I want it as widely shared as possible in whatever way is best for whoever is (in my case) reading it. Money, if it's a concern at all, is only a concern if there is a lack of it making day to day life difficult. I know what you were trying to do, but if I have something I feel is worth having published it's a ...

No. And the reason is painfuly simple.

Whatever tech will fit in a smart phone or any other handheld device, something many times more powerful will fit in even the smallest of home desktops or game consoles, and if you've ever used a smart phone (or the switch) then you know any resource game will completely destroy the battery life, which is even more undesirable for something like a phone that's primary purpose is to communicate with people, which it can't d...

so it's wrong of me to emulate games I already paid for?

Why? I am already supporting the developer. From their perspective, it's literally no different )they make the same amount of money,) but from my perspective it's a better experience because I get stable framerates and better looking games.

3257d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yes. Just because I choose to play an objectively superior version of the game with a higher resolution and more stable framerate, I would obvously never even consider buying the game.

Or, just maybe, I actualy own the games I emuate and I emulate them anyways because it's a better gameplay experience. I definitely don't do that with literally every PS1, PS2, Gamecube, Wii, Gameboy, DS, PSP, N64 (ect,) game I own.

Xbox is not competing with PC. Consoles in general are not competing with PC. Nothing MS could do short of just making the Xbox a PC could make me get one. I'd pay more money for less powerful hardware to own a PC instead, just because the games have proper options menus and it's backwards compatible back to like the mid 1960s.

Putting it on PC is not doing any harm to Xbox.

No, you don't need Xbox only content to sell it. You can sell thing...

The US already made that mistake and we are currently imploding. Reversing all progress on climate change, making huge cuts to (already underfunded) health services, destroying the internet, deregulating the giant banks that destroyed the world economy because they weren't properly regulated, ect.

I know you think you know what you want, but unless you're a super far right religious nut job who thinks climate change is a chinese hoax, trust me, you came out better....

Only in the US. Also if you're persistant you usually can, it's more profitable for them to keep you happy and coming back than it is to piss you off and drive you to competitors. And no, 2 hours isn't generouse. Especially as it's a digial good, so unlike a physical disk that cannot be resold as new once opened, nothing of value is actually lost if there is a legitimate refund. This is compounded by only being able to refund into the steam wallet so if you wanted to buy somet...

@Death

No, no it doesn't. It's AMD tech, using an AMD archetecture. This is why TFLOPS is a poor way to measure performance. The RX 580 has 6.2 TFLPOS and the 1070 has 6.4, a tiny difference, but in actual games the 1070 has a performance advantage of like 20~ over a 580. This is because their archetectures work differently.

The xbox One X (and indeed all the PS4s) are using AMD tech, which means 6 TFLOPS is the upper limit of a RX 480 and just b...

No, you're wrong, sorry. The ability to do things like choose what resolution and framerate and level of visual quality and price (and the ratio between these things) instead of being stuck with 1800p/30 at the equivilant of medium PC settings is nothing but a positive. I *can* do 4k/30, but I don't because the stuttering is distracting and it's necessary to compromise some graphics settings, the game looks and plays better at 1080p or 1440p at 60 FPS with all t...

@bigpappy.

It's stilla Jaguar, and the Jaguar is still garbage. No amount of custom anything can make it good. It wans't even good when it was new because it's based on laptop CPUs because they put low power/heat over performance. (also it's still the piledriver archetecture, which is still garbage.)

That's also very misleading. The Xbox one X has 12 GB of *shared* ram. so CPU and GPU. Of that, developers only have access to 9. A GTX ...

The main story of 5 is only ~6 hours. It's really not a departure.

The games are also known for strongly encouraging multiple playthroughs for secret hunting and using planes and weapons you unlocked either later in the story or by secret hunting, which is always where most of the playtime in AC games has been.

3258d ago 2 agree1 disagreeView comment

That's not how Ace Combat works.

Assuming they don't ***k it up and it actually follows the older formulae, the longevity comes in the form of hunting for secrets, unlocking things, new planes (which handle very differently,) higher difficulties, challenge maps, and I assume after Infinity they're going to have PvP (meh) and some form of co-op as well.

Basically, you don't play through an Ace Combat game once, you play through it 3 or 4 ...

depends on the hardware. IIRC it works fine on the 2XX series and 3XX series, it's just the 4XX and 5 XX series it hates.

As far as CPUs go, no emulator works well on AMD CPUs (though they'll probably work OK on Ryzen, I just haven't checked.) Older AMD CPUs are really bad IPC, so really bad at single/dual core tasks (most emulators.) They can hold their own when all of their 8 cores can be utilized properly, but in single core tasks they're well below par....

Desktop sales are in the toilet and PC hardware sales are raising sharply and this trend has been in place for like 2 years, so no that's not the "problem." Even people who buy pre-built PCs are doing it from places like Ibuypower, which means their composed entirely of individual parts purchased by the user (obviously at a markup so such sites can profit.)

Also, how is it even a problem? If people are fine with building a mid range PC in 2012 and continuing t...
