If some of the above is to be believed, I can take a 2005 PC with 256MB of ram (if you can find one), a 256mb GeForce 7800 and I can run games on a visual par with console excusives, even on top of an entire multi purpose operating system! A wonder machine!
The following is a quote from a new addition at the bottom of an article from digital foundry about the above demo as it explains some of the errors made in negative comments regarding the recent PC/PS4 comparisons and the demo above.
"Update: Brian Karis, senior graphics programmer at Epic Games adds some more insight in the comments below, explaining some of the more obvious differences - particularly in terms of the very different lighting schemes. At the technical le...
It's quite simple really.
On any system the devs always have a choice.
60fps but less graphical complexity, smoother
30fps more graphical complexity, not as smooth
No matter how powerful a platform, 30fps with increased detail will always be achievable.
Considering that graphics can sell products and that the screenshots on the back of the box don't move at 60psf(!) it really is NO WONDER that consol...
That comparison gif thing sucks. Try this instead.

Once the MS knows that every customer has an always on connection, the temptation to throw in or sell advertising or draw stats from users to use to sell to the advertisers must also become a reality?

I think 'Shacknews' need to read the article again.
I cannot wait for E3.
Sony most certainly have a sale from me whatever happens. It seems to be pushing all the right buttons.
The thing I find most odd is the early reveal from Sony. Was it reactionary based on something they found out about the competition or just saw an opportunity?
MS have every chance to get me on board too. It worries me that they seem quite happy to change personality for turning a quick profit though.

A 2 generation old GPU with no added fat though. Not only 'down to the metal' performance without being hampered and throttled by drivers and API's but dev's will be able to optimize the crap out of the console hardware as a whole without having to worry about the lowest common denominator and multitudes of hardware configurations. The creation is built on the intended platform and graphics still sell so they go the extra mile too.
You can take a low powered...
Some really great Project Cars screens.
GT5 Photo mode can tread water with it and has models with more close up detail. The palette and lighting on both is great.
Project cars frame rates can drop to single digits in the jaw dropping moments these screen show (in replay mode)
At the end of the day though, it is a car racing game and, perhaps more shocking than those screens, is the fact it shares the same physics engine as this:- <...
About as in depth as a paddling pool.
...Imagines the opposite. Lights come up, black box on plinth, guy walks on stage and waves his hand over it while waving his eyebrows about, lights go down.
The end.
True, both would have been better but if that is the only thing people can moan at then bloody well done Sony!
If you built a PC with the exactly same components as a PS4, the PS4 would be twice as fast. John Carmack will tell you that.
Considering the top selling PC game of all time is 'The Sims', it seems that developers looking to maximize profits are better channeling their energies into the real 'PC Hardcore Gamers':- teenage girls.
Joking aside, I have had my fair share of top notch PC rigs in my time but have always had a thing for consoles to...
OMG,it's like a shopping channel salesman trying to sound like he knows what he is talking about!
This is gold.
I really hope it costs whatever is needed to keep that RAM figure included. By the whole world moaning about spending that amount of money, we all run the risk of forcing Sony to react with a dumb down on the specs they can still change. It has happened before and us gamers are only going to make it happen again.

I imagine it was running on a PC that ran PS4 fidelity (with higher specs) but not PS4 spec as the overheads on the PC would see the same spec crippled.
Firstly, if someone had shown me this in 2005 as 'the future' when the 'current gen' consoles were just budding, I would have been rather disappointed I think. A simple matter of opinion though.
To me, PC gaming is often as much about spending your spare time and money on submerging your PC in Liquid Nitrogen to get a 'high score' on 3D Mark as it is on gaming as such. Software developers want to sell their experiences to millions of gamers and that ...
