Really impressed with this but you can now see why some compromises had to be made to allow it. Brilliant though.
Of course it's to do with those specs and it's to do with art too. They have limits to work with. Even the more powerful PS4 has limits to work with but they want the game to look as good as possible and to get the best looking experience does not just mean getting a high resolution. It's all compromise. Less resolution (for Xbox One) = more GPU time for shadows, lighting etc.
..You can't blame the devs for the lack of power but they have to face the reali...
Yeah, imagine the devs had 50% less power. If I were them, I wouldn't even show that version for a while...
The Wii U can upscale too. Maybe even that version is better than the Xbox One?
Well, I won't be playing it at all as the game is of no interest to me. I understand that lots of people want to play it though.
The short of it is that the devs could easily make the PS4 version technically match the Xbox One (freeing up plenty of previously used resources). Just don't ask them to try it the other way around.
Low settings, Sharpness +9, Saturation +4, Contrast +3, fingers crossed.
Looks fantastic. That foliage really looks next gen and the lighting looks great. A little buggy, a little tearing and some pop in but it's nice to see devs going for how the game looks rather than silly spec boasts like '1080p' etc. I would take realism of simply have a greater quantity of pixels any day.
As a PS4 pre-orderer, I am honestly jealous of this and Forza. For the moment, I am still not getting one but if you are buying this system, hope you enjoy i...
Sometimes, it feels to me me that more than a few MS 'exclusives' seem to be some kind of facsimile of an established Playstation franchise. This MS 'me too' feels pretty artificial and corporate to me, like they look down on us gamers, laughing at how easily we are bought and manipulated.
Thankfully, the games are, on the whole, pretty good and the teams behind them seem dedicated enough. I just wish there was more passion and confidence from MS rather than ...
massive mouth
I personally mostly play exclusives on each platform unless an exemplary title appears but my interest lies in the whole technical aspect of games as much as the game itself. I like to see devs push hardware seemingly beyond their limits which is why I generally find the PC quite cold and soulless. There is no limit, you just keep throwing horsepower in until things run well and often the amount of power required for only a mild improvement over consoles is obscene. At least with Mantle th...
@JP1369
I wouldn't bother. It's like preaching to a wall in here! Why do so many people prefer denial over actually learning something?
I must say though that the sacrifices made not only allow for enough detail to look next gen but also, it runs at 60fps. Turn 10's priority is 60fps with this game. They could add more complexity and density but at the expense of either resolution or frame rate or both. I think they have a great balance.
14 hours to go
My Wii U features a chip that, Billions of years ago, was formed from Molten Lava that had been cooled over many years by caring Polar Bears living in what we now call 'France' before being fed a special energy from the Sun called 'Sun Energy' for a further 1 Million years. Slowly, as the years passed, it began to resemble what scientists now call a 'Silicon Chip'. This chip was then stored by an inbred family of angry Squirrels until Humans were considered mature en...
There you go then! Forza matches all the tech that Drive Club uses can manage and can do it at twice the framerate of the PS4. Amazing!
sigh.
If there is one thing my 25 years of programming have taught me is to know when to give up trying!
Driveclub features global illumination, Forza does not. That is as simple as I can put it for you.
I understand the term perfectly thanks! The fact that the lighting doesn't change every lap is enough of a reason to suggest such a thing. Devs that use dynamic lighting want to show off this by having the lighting change every lap. Why waste all those resources when the same shadows are going to be in the same place every lap?
Everything we are seeing this early on with next gen is all about resources and settling on which areas to maximise. Forza has taken the existing skeleton and added a healthy sheen along with a more dense setting (like a 360 on steroids)
Evolution have decided to go next-gen in a different direction and feature true next-gen lighting, complex cloud simulations and dense, detailed trackside objects.
Forza is the easiest to praise because we can compare it to ...
If only it were true. All MS would have needed to do was say that they had the most powerful hardware at the conference and everyone would be buying that.
Sony are saying that they have the worlds most powerful console and MS are not. MS instead tried to sell us transistor counts and clouds instead of comparative specs and that says more than the total nut job that is 'misterxmedia' and his imaginary insider friend ever has. But so what!
Why do people ha...
I'm a backer on this and really looking forward to playing it when it comes out :)
Complete nonsense. Fact.
The 360 could run Ryse and 'keep up' with the XBoxOne if you ran it at a low enough resolution.
