Because someone from Kotaku tweeted that someone from EA made a statement about the Wii U?
Seriously, get real.
And this is all based on what exactly? What do you definitively know about the specs of the Nextbox and PS4? Or the Wii U's for that matter. There is a whole lot of predicting going on; I really wish people would stop acting like they KNOW what's going to happen without at least some form of professional insight.
Abridged version; how do you know all that?
It's not a current generation console. Chill.
So getting one game for it really does effectively make it profitable it seems. A Wii U plus, say, NSMBU would effectively make this thing profitable, assuming the math is factually correct.
Not much buzz here either. That's certainly typical.
X for me with the Virtual Console announcements as a close second.
Hey author, may I see your crystal ball?
It's funny you say that because in the eyes of many older gamers, these 25 year old games hold up much better than many modern games.
These sales are also fairly inexpensive too. Unless you really feel the need to complain about paying $.30.
Play it in Wii mode for free with your old save? Problem solved? And for the last damn time, you're not rebuying the game, it's an optional upgrade.
It is a bummer that the game saves don't transfer, but thankfully I never purchased any really long VC games. Except maybe Paper Mario. Frankly I'd prefer they work on cross buying between the Wii U VC and the 3DS VC anyway.
Needs a stronger user base of course, but it's only been a little less than three months. ZombiU had a fairly strong attachment rate, so it's not like that kind of audience is completely nonexistent for the Wii U. It's a double edged sword, sadly. It needs games to bring in that core gamer and devs won't make games out of caution that the core gamer may not buy it on the Wii U.
I suppose it starts when one side actually gives it a chance.
Well for starters the Wii U can already play SNES games on the Wii mode. I don't think they have yet optimized the 3DS to work with games like that. I am very surprised that GBA games are coming to the Wii U. Maybe that's a sign for things to come for the 3DS? Who can really say for sure?
Motion control is nicer in the form of optional functionality. Like the motion controls in some of the latest dedicated portables; gyro sensors and accelerometers are a butter alternative IMO. However things like the Wii remote and the Move are viable as optional controllers. For example, I love playing Resident Evil 4 with those kinds of controls but I would never play something like Smash Bros. or Sly Cooper with them.
I made my original comment because both Crystal Dynamics and Gearbox shared the same sentiment about the gamepad.
@OmegaSlayer
That's a pretty mature remark about fanboys. /s
Keep in mind, it's cheaper to port to the Wii U according to Ubisoft. With that in mind, you would not need to sell as many copies to make a profit. If Black Ops 2 sold 150000 as you stated, multiply the numbers and it should come out to more than the development...
I think it isn't fair for the Wii U to be skipped because developers don't think they can make use of the touch screen. That's what Off-TV play is for. Core Wii U owners will gravitate toward that content with or without the specialized functionality. Cap com is releasing an updated version of Monster Hunter 3 and that won't even have Off-TV play. Why can't other debs try this? Especially if porting the game is relatively cheap?
Whoa! That's some pretty intricate talent right there. Joining Retro Studios of all companies! Certainly makes me excited.
Hey, as long as they can all make better products and give us more content, power to all of them.
That I certainly did not know. I definitely agree that the circumstances could change in that case. Thanks for the info.
I would certainly like it if there was more content within the span of the entire year with confirmed release dates, but beggars can't be choosers I suppose. I am thoroughly excited for Pikmin 3, Rayman, Aliens and Wind Waker Reborn right now.
What a shame. Fun game, interesting story and of course very good score.
Eh, I'd prefer Link stay mute. I mean I'm all for voice acting for the characters that are actually talking, but for Link himself let's leave it alone. The TV show is more than enough damage, if you know what I mean.
Well, the anti-Nintendo brigade wasted no time showing up here. Lets ignore the multiple developers and publishers who have praised this platform in the past.
Like Vigil, Gearbox, Shin'en, Epic and even Crytek.
Oh and this is coming from a member of Kotaku. This community never fails.
