I love my Xbox, but I cannot see the point of the whole Xbox as TV thingy. It adds to the wear and tear of your Xbox. It wastes electricity, because now instead of having just your TV running you are now running both TV and Xbox and it doesn't save money???? The only plus I can see is for MS and the greedy cable providers, this is not a plus for gamers at all. So yeah disappointment for gamers.

Good for him, instead of making his lackeys go shopping for him he goes out and picks out his own gifts for his family. Although I am not a fan of Obama, this did gain him a smidgen of respect from me.

And some people on this board really need to lighten up and enjoy the holiday. We have all of 2012 to worry about politics.

I like the Tropico series a lot, and I agree with your review. Good job!

My biggest problem with T3 was that it was so buggy on 360, so I was happy that T4 was more stable.

Also, they are putting out DLC for this game, which is a good thing, though I wonder if people will feel it is a bit overpriced for what you get. Still I am glad they are supporting the 360 version better this time around.

I don't think it is the only thing, but I do love Arcade/Marketplace. It is great having the chance to demo the games first too. But I agree MS seriously needs to step up on the exclusive/non-kinect gaming.

The advertising really doesn't bother me and I don't see it being any worse in this new version. Can't really figure out what the fuss is about to be honest.

I also wonder if PS4 will have free online play. I hope I am wrong, but I would not be surprised if Sony doesn't change that in the future.

People might prefer retail versions of games, but they still have no problem paying for downloadable games if that is the only option available to them. Personally I would rather have the physical game, but I still buy a lot of Live Arcade games. I will certainly pick this game up.

It will be interesting to see how well this game does.

I switched from Gold to Silver recently. I realized I was paying for Gold, but not really using the Gold services. I prefer single player gaming, and I have a PS3 and Wii to use for Netflix, so I decided not to renew Gold this year. Silver works just fine for me.

You don't need to pay for Live Gold just to use Live Marketplace. You can use a free Silver account for that. You can also access the free demos and trials with Silver, but the new demos get released on Gold first and Silver later on (think it is a week later).

Opps: I see that ryhanon already said this. That's what I get for not reading all comments first.

Dragon vs Mudcrab - gotta love that.

I agree. People fail to consider the fact that Skyrim has hundreds of hours of content, compared to many video games that run about 20-40 hours. I would like to see any of those shorter bug free games expand to 200-300 hours and lets see how bug free they end up.

Interesting.

I didn't buy Dark Souls, simply because I got bored with Demon's Souls pretty quickly and saw no reason to pick up the sequel. That doesn't make Demon's Souls a bad game, I think it was cool and unique, and I am glad I tried it out, but it personally didn't hold my interest for very long.

Skyrim on the other hand is a game I am finding nearly impossible to put down. I pick it up meaning to play for a couple of hours and next...

You make a good point about people having a right to be pissed, I just wish they wouldn't act childish about it, like the comment below calling Bethesda shitty.

The companion in the doorway thing is REALLY annoying. I think it is more of a design flaw than a bug though. I also hate how they don't always wait when you tell them to.

The thing that I find most amazing is that people actually expected Skyrim to be bug free on release.

Come on people, Bethesda games are known for their buggy releases. If you knew this about Bethesda and yet you still picked up their game on Day 1, and now your are complaining doesn't that make you kinda silly?

When I picked up Skyrim I was 100% certain the game would have issues. However after reading the reviews I knew even with the bugs the game wa...

Perhaps the writer was still feverish when he played the game. I respect that not everyone likes the same games, but there is no way that someone could play Skyrim for only two hours and say 'you’ve pretty much experienced all you’re ever going to.', and be serious. Because two hours into Skyrim you have barely started the game.

Speaking of overrated - I don't know why fans are so certain that Versus is going to be any better then FF13 was. I have seen nothing, aside from fanboy hype, to make me think that Versus is going to be a great game. I wouldn't get my hopes up.

You did a great job. I liked your ending too:

"Skyrim is like a loved one; as you spend time with them and come to know them better, you’ll find more and more flaws, little or otherwise, in them, but you don’t give a damn because you love them."

This really summed it up. Skyrim is a great and very addicting game. It has flaws, but the game itself is so great you are able to forgive them.

This is a really good review, I am glad I took the time to read it. I like that it covers both what is good about Skyrim and also what could be improved upon.

I don't buy at Gamestop a lot, but when I do I am very careful to pay attention to what I am buying. If I am buying a new game I make certain that I receive a sealed copy, if they try to pull the whole 'opened new game' nonsense on me, I will tell them 'no thank you' and go somewhere else for the game. The only time I buy used is on older games that I can't find new copies of. So, all this article tells me is to keep on doing what I am doing, because Gamestop is bei...

I kinda have to agree with you on this. In fact the only reason I am not rushing out to buy Skyward Sword is the fact that I cannot stand playing a game with the Wiimote. I am sure the game is fun, but the motion control aspect put me off it.

On the other hand I respect that fans of motion control games will probably be in heaven, since I am sure that this one handles much better then most.
