Although I love BioWare games, and I would be very disappointed if they stopped making games, I don't feel that consumers should feel responsible for a game company going out of business. If a company cannot afford to compete while also keeping their customers happy, that isn't the customers fault and we should not feel that it is.
Plenty of game companies manage to make good games while charging normal prices and limiting DLC to what is acceptable to gamers and they...
Personally I wish that they would have left MP out entirely. I dislike how game developers make a successful SP game, and then they feel the need to tack on a half assed MP option. Is it really so bad that a game is SP only? Do they really think that adding MP will cause people who favor MP games to suddenly say, 'well, even though I had no interest in Mass Effect in the past, now that they added a half assed MP option I must buy it?'. Seriously, I just don't get it.
I think the type of DLC that I hate the most are the ones that are pre-order exclusives that target a certain store. The Tales of Graces F - Gamestop pre-order deal is one example.
What if you are a person who has chosen not to shop at a certain store - due to bad service, or bad business practices? If you want the DLC do you put your principles on hold? Or do you do something underhanded, like buying the game at Gamestop and another store (say Amazon) as well, then use th...
It is simply a matter of asking yourself if you are willing to pay more for ME3 or not. If not you should certainly take a pass on the game, but if you are like me and ME3 is at the top of your must have list then paying a bit more due to the DLC is more of an annoyance then an actual problem.
Plus this is not the first time a company has challenged the limits about what is acceptable with DLC, and it won't be the last.
I respect those who are willing to pass up a great game on principle, but at the same time I can't see enough people jumping on this bandwagon to actually make any difference. Plus EA is not the only company with sketchy business practices, and if I was going to start taking a stand against all the game companies with unacceptable business practices I would probably have very few games left to play.
It is a noble thought though.
Not really surprised, EA is the worst when it comes to rogue DLC strategies, and BioWare is along on EA's ride. I would be more surprised if they took things in a different direction and showed love for their fans, but that simply isn't EAs method of operation, so this is what it is.
I still plan on buying ME3, because I am a fan of BioWare. At the end of the day I know I really want to play this game, and I feel it will be worth every penny. But I would really love...
I think it would be great it we had a non-biased gaming website where the reviewers gave us the straight up truth about games before they came out. Instead of scoring purely on gameplay it would give us the real dirt on the game. It would rate the game on bugs encountered, play time, single player vs multiplayer, and price vs enjoyment.
I have recently stopped renewing my subscriptions to gaming magazines due to the fact that the reviews never told me what I REALLY needed/...
LMAO - kids these days are too much.
I really enjoyed reading this blog post. Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion.
In general I try to be an open minded and respectful person, but there are certain subjects that push my buttons and ignorance is at the very top of my list. My biggest problem with fanboys is that many of them have no idea what they are talking about. You see people who have obviously never touched a certain game console, going on an on about how horrible that game console is. ...
Points cards are the only way to go on both Live and PSN.
Exactly, and I will believe it ONLY after we I see it and actually have solid proof that it will not be another over-hyped under-performing FF game.
I agree it has nothing to do with MS, and I get really annoyed when I hear that fanboy nonsense.
Lost Odyssey is indeed a great game, and I actually wonder if the reason that SE cannot do a proper FF game is simply because they lost all of their real talent to Mistwalker. After Hironobu Sakaguchi left SE stopped making good FF games.
In addition to Lost Odyssey, there have been a handful of good JPRGs this generation. Sadly many were released on handheld, ...
I don't think people want the franchise to fail, I think people simply want SE to care about the franchise as much as the fans do.
SE is out of touch with their fanbase, not sure if it is ego, or culture, or what, but they continue to give us crap that we never asked for and certainly do not want. Wouldn't it simply be easier and smarter for them to open their ears, communicate with their fanbase, and then look into making the types of games that their fans really ...
I loved X, it was one of my favorites actually, but I agree that after X SE took a turn for the worse.
X-2: was rubbish
XI: was multiplayer and never interested me.
XII: was okay, better than X-2, but not as good as X.
XIII: was certainly pretty too look at, but it just didn't feel like a Final Fantasy game. They could have slapped a different name on it and nobody would have known it was a FF game.
XIV: was a disaster.
XIII-2...
Not surprised to hear that it is bombing, but I am surprised to hear that it is bombing in Japan. I expected it to do well in Japan and bomb everywhere else.
If this is true it is time for SE to pull their heads out of their bottoms and try listening to their fans for a change.
Yes, I suppose you can fast travel, but that doesn't mean you should have to, and it doesn't make it any less annoying.
Don't get me wrong. I love the heck out of Skyrim, but I still found the Lifetime Achievement Award for this bug to be fitting and funny.
LMAO:
Lifetime Achievement Award is well deserved!
I was too addicted to Skyrim, and literally had to put it away to keep it from sucking up all my freetime. I would sit down planning to play for a couple of hours and end up playing all night, nothing worse then a gaming hangover. Had to quit that game cold turkey.
DA2 was a disappointment for SOME gamers, not all. I am willing to bet for every person who disliked DA2 another person loved it. Personally it is one of my favorite games this year.
I admit it was flawed in some ways, but I think the reason it got so badly mauled by fans is due to the fact that Origins was an epic game and by Origins' standards DA2 was lacking. Regardless DA2 is a great game in its own right, it simply isn't as epic as Origins.
Wow, another AC already? I still haven't finished Brotherhood, or even bought the last game in the series. The AC team certainly works quickly.
