@Hovis

I agree that the game could be played without Jarik, but he is certainly nice to have along. It could also be said that the game could easily have been played without James. The thing is that if the DLC isn't that important, and it certainly wasn't very long, why did we have to pay extra for it?

That being said, I personally really enjoyed the game, and I don't feel bad about paying extra for the DLC, because I felt that as a whole the ...

Well, I guess that makes me a BioWare fanboy, but you know what? I am okay with that. I don't think that everything that BioWare does is right, and their Day1 DLC is a bit unacceptable in my book, but I would rather stand on the side that supports the game company that has brought me so much joy as opposed to the side that acts slightly crazy everytime a game developer does not bow down and bend to their every wish.

So if someone is a fan of BioWare games, they buy ME3, they play it, they love it, they feel the negativity is undeserved and speak up and defend the game they enjoyed - that makes them wrong?

Yet it is okay to not actually play the game, but leave 0 score reviews about a game that you have not even touched, because you are bitter about DLC, homosexuality, or whatever?

It is one thing to say that you don't agree with BioWare's business practice, and y...

I am glad; because despite all the controversy it is the best game I’ve played since Skyrim. Although a part of me understands fans frustration about the Day1 DLC, since I hate Day1 DLC just as much as the next person, when I take a step back and ask myself is ME3 worth the higher asking price my answer is 100 percent YES!

Perhaps the bigger issue is that games need to be priced differently altogether. Why are we okay paying $60 for games that can be finished in 15 hours ...

@Nimblest-Assassin

I agree with you 100 percent. It is frustrating that people are going overboard with the hate, but some gamers seem to have nothing better to do with their time.

Personally, I love the fact that BioWare is an open minded company, willing to try new things and willing to embrace the fact that not all gamers are straight and male. They know they will get crap for it, but they do it anyway, you have to respect them for sticking to their gun...

Haters need to hate, and I honestly think there are a lot of people out their calling themselves gamers, who don't actually game much. Instead they spend their time picking apart every little thing game makers do wrong. The worst part is most of the hate comes from people who don't buy the game. I have always felt that if you have not personally picked up a game and played it you have no business judging it. But that's just me.

As for ME3, the game is excellent...

I feel Mass Effect is a series where background knowledge is needed. I think I would be very lost in ME3, had I not played the earlier games, and I would certainly not be enjoying it to the level I am.

On the other hand there are games like Assassins Creed where you could probably jump into it mid-series and never really miss the earlier stuff.

Whenever I hear someone making comments like gillri I always assume they are in the closet themselves, and that they protesting so loudly simply to keep their cover. I know that is not always the case, but I can't help but wonder.

You also got a credit for pre-ordering if you have the gamers rewards card at Best Buy. $10 for the free rewards members and $20 for the paid rewards members.

The Mass Effect Series is excellent. It is a shame that ME3 is already getting tons of angry backlash due to the DLC nonsense and whatnot. Regardless of that I am certain I will enjoy the game.

This article lost me at 'FemShep'... it is hard to take it seriously... imagine if every male game reviewer did this, using MaleShep or GuyHawke to point out that they are a male who uses a male character, they would be laughed at, because it sounds ridiculous. It is excellent that you are a female gamer, the world needs a lot more of them, but hearing Shepard called FemShep just makes me cringe.

It is sort of sad that although I have bought every Fable game in the past, I have no interest in this one. But I guess this is good news for people who enjoy Kinect.

I think game companies really need to rethink their DLC strategy, but they won't, because it makes them a lot of money.

One of the biggest problems is DLC pricing vs value. Often the various DLC packages for a game can end up costing almost as much as the full game when all is said and done, and it is rare that DLC is ever so good that it warrants whatever they are charging for it. Expecting us to pay $10+ for an hour or two of extra content, an extra team member, or a h...

All sequels from successful series are over hyped. You need to take the hype with a grain of salt, otherwise you will always be disappointed, since very few sequels live up to the hype they create.

@honkyjesus: Who do you review for? I need to know what I should avoid in the future, because a game reviewer that thinks a 9 is a low score is not someone I want to be taking advice from.

Graphics do not matter to me as long as the game is enjoyable.

@pocketaces11 - customers change in this economy too, and companies cannot please those shareholders if they piss off their customers and lose them.

Just look at the Netflix fiasco. When Netflix raised prices and their customers reacted it certainly mattered to shareholders. Even if your company needs to bring in more money they need to be very careful of how they go about doing it, because too many wrong moves can cause the customers to flee, and no customers means no money,...

It is unfortunate that some gamers act like possessed children when a game company disappoints them.

Yes, I understand that currently fans are pissed off at BioWare over the DLC and whatnot, but 'hello' we are talking 'death threats' here people! No matter how disappointed you are with a company death threats are not acceptable behavior.

Although they most likely are not meant to be real, any company that receives a death threat is going to r...
