Anybody seen video of this game? Got a link?
I've seen countless previews and they all make the game sound amazing, but I'm still not clear on exactly how it's meant to play. Is it like a hack & slash with some adventure elements? Is it a more traditional adventure like we're used to seeing from Tim Schafer? Even a little 10 second video clip would really clear up a lot I think.
Anyway, still looking forward to this game...whatever it is.
Interesting. Law suits like this generally take years to get sorted out, but maybe as the case wears on we'll get a clearer picture of just what the hell was going on over at 3DRealms for the past 13 years.
I wonder what effect this lawsuit will have on the Duke IP and Apogee's ability to get the Duke trilogy for handhelds out the door on time.
It will become true very soon. It sucks for consumers like you and I, but you can see where they're coming from when they put bandwidth caps in place.
What bothers me is when they start trying to restrict what you can do with the bandwidth you've already paid for by throttling your speeds during peak hours or throttling certain types of traffic. When that happens it's time to get a new carrier.
This game will probably rock and all, but it seems like they're getting the hype train underway a little early. It's only supposed to come out in November as far as I know.
I don't know who's disagreeing with you man, because that was way better. Nice find...and nice avatar too.
Hopefully a better version of this clip turns up on GT or something soon.
@Chicken Chaser: I don't think allowing IW to copy zombie mode would be Treyarch's decision, it would be up to Activision. It's pretty likely, given the popularity of WaW zombies that Activision will more or less force IW to include zombies of some sort in MW2.
@Above: Well there's no reason Konami would take a perfectly successful franchise like MGS and make it exclusive. Lol. JK. ;)
Good point about Splinter Cell, though. Wonder what's up with that. Same goes for Lost Planet 2, but I think we all know that's not going to stay exclusive. Ubi seems to be sticking to their guns where Splinter Cell is concerned for some reason.
Or Sony just paid for these ads specifically. There's no reason Ubi would take a perfectly successful multi plat franchise like Assassin's Creed and go exclusive with it.
Anyway, I'll be picking this up on my PS3. Assassin's Creed is awesome.
From the summary:
"He thinks that Microsoft bought 3D Realms and that they are working on Duke Nukem Forever as an exclusive Xbox 360 title to be published by Take Two."
Why would MS buy a game studio then have someone else publish the game?
You know, I doubt if we'll see anything that extravagant, but I wouldn't be surprised if whoever picks up the rights to Duke Forever makes an announcement at E3. Maybe Take-Two will drop a bomb during their conference and tell us they've handed over development on the game to Human Head or Raven or even 2kBoston or something.
Well remember, 3Drealms stated recently that they were around the 90% completion. That may have been an old video, but huge chunks of it looked like they were far from the 90% mark.
Maybe 3Drealms was given an ultimatum at some point. Something like "Get it done by Christmas 2009 or we pull funding." We don't know what was going on behind the scenes. What we do know is that their publisher showed near infinite patience over the course of Duke Forever's 13 year dev c...
Parts of that looked really cool, although I liked the original pig cops with the L.A.R.D. shirts. Hopefully a competent dev. picks it up and finishes the game.
I know a lot of 3Drealms fanboys won't like me calling them incompetent, but come one guys...13 years? I'm a former 3Drealms fanboy myself, but I gave up on them about 5 years after Shadow Warrior came out. They took one of my favorite IPs (one they created) and ran it into the ground.
Same actor, dude.
Egad! Forum people!?!?! Get your behinds back in rando.
I suppose if he wasn't hung up on the archaic idea of collecting pointless cases and manuals to display on his shelves (helps you get laid I hear) he could have just started the download from home and saved himself a trip to the store.
I feel like I should point out, since the writer of this article drew attention to the 3Drealms portfolio, that 3Drealms didn't exactly make Max Payne or Prey. The only thing they really "made" since Duke 3d was Shadow Warrior. Also, the "dozens of other games" the author refers to are just a bunch of old 2d apogee games and Terminal Velocity which also wasn't made by 3Drealms.
@Mindboggle: The PS2 GoW games are still better than around 99% of current gen games and you can get both for way less than one new PS3/X360 game. You should definitely check them out before GoW3 comes out.
Oh, and they don't look half bad either, even by current gen standards.
Well we all knew it would be there, but I wasn't expecting a definitive release date. That's hella good news, imo. I'm expecting a 2010 release date which will be a letdown (an expected one), but it will still be nice to have a firm release window to look forward to.
I agree as far as the free PSN game is concerned. Sprint decided to run a promotion in the US only, so if anyone's to be "blamed", it's Sprint.
On the other hand, the author makes some good points about PSN cards, video content, etc. What's the freaking hold up, Sony? There are around 35 million Canadians. Not a big enough market to bother worrying about? Come on, get with the program.
