@Lord of Balrogs & iDystopia: Oh, didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

I don't want to get involved in any fanboy arguments, but you said they paid $25 million for each episode. Is there another DLC coming out? I thought Lost & Damned was it.

Huh. It was going to be called "Adrenaline", but maybe they've changed it.

Or maybe they're just calling the wii version with balance board support "Ride". That would sort of make sense.

Either way, I hope they seriously revamp this series. There hasn't been a fresh one since the PS1 era.

Well I can't speak for everyone, but I'm a Duke fan from back in the day and I'm not to pleased with 3DRealms. Hate may be too strong of a word for what I feel, but I'm definitely disappointed with them. Even if the game did come out this year, 10+ years is waaaaaaay to long for a dev. cycle.

Obviously nobody at 3DRealms meant for things to turn out this way and I hate to blame the guys behind the scenes (programmers, artists, etc) for what was obviously a case of horrible misma...

That would be cool, but iD wouldn't make the game with competing tech and since it's (supposedly) like 90% complete on the Unreal Engine, we'd end up waiting even longer, like another year or two, if iD picked it up.

It would be better if someone with an existing UE3 license picked it up. Of course that's assuming whoever buys the ip also gets rights to last build of the game 3DRealms made before going under. Otherwise I guess it wouldn't matter.

@Wickedrabbit: Bundled games may not get a whole lot of attention, but there's no denying the extra sales that come from being bundled with a console. That's the kind of deal independent (at the time) devs like Bizarre must dream about.

Edit: Nevermind. Just re-read your post and you did sort of touch on that point somewhere in the middle.

Nobody likes to hear this because the DC is like the holy grail of gaming in the eyes of many, but the flood of arcade-perfect ports for DC ended up being more of a curse than a blessing, imo.

The hardware was near identical to Sega's popular arcade hardware from the time which meant devs. who used Sega's hardware for their arcade games could port to the DC with minimal effort. In the short term that meant a lot of arcadey games were released for the system in a short amount of ...

I don't think the name would have gotten such a hard time if they never made the mistake of saying it stood for "Massive Action Game". They should have just called it MAG and left it at that from the beginning. Glad the see they dropped the acronym.

Very cool. Looks a lot easier than the original game. No poison slug enemies either. Still pretty awesome.

Well I'm sure Terminal Reality handed over a lot of money for the license to Ghostbusters games for a set amount of time or for s set amount of titles. It's not like Sony just let them have it for free or anything.

I mean if you were Sony and you had a valuable license that was just stagnating then TR came in and offered you a) tons of money and b) a great opportunity to reboot a dying franchise with little to no financial risk, why would you refuse?

Yeah, I hope they don't mean in the actual cars because that will just look stupid.

6242d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yeah, but they get a lot of free publicity out of fanatics arguing over whether their game will appear on their console of choice. This article is a good example.

Ooh! Drama!

Garriot seems like a stand up fellow. Hopefully this all gets sorted out before anyone's reputation is permanently damaged.

Yeah, they were timed exclusives and at least two of them required a name change in order to legally be published on other systems. All it really proves is publishing does not = exclusivity. As for timed exclusivity, etc, who knows. It wouldn't be surprising. If they're publishing, they probably slid a few dollars to the devs to help finish the game. Maybe in return they asked for a few months exclusive time? It's possible.

@SKV: Well there was Vampire Rain. That was MS published, then the title "Altered Species" was tacked on and it showed up on PS3. Braid was MS published (I think) and it's on Mac now and likely headed for other non-MS platforms. Ninja Gaiden 2 was MS published and it's going to PS3 with a slight name change. There may be one or two others.

Basically it's not common, but it can happen. Also, as Foxgod says, you'll frequently see deals where a game will have two or more d...

Yeah, that's what I was saying in my comment below. Microsoft has been known to publish titles for the 360 that end up on other platforms. Sony has never gone that route so far, but there's a first time for everything.

Hmmm...interesting news, considering that ALL versions of the game must be pretty much complete at this point. Given the amount of money the devs have already poured into the Xbox and wii versions, I'd say Sony is probably going to be publishing the game on Sony platforms only. This doesn't necessarily mean it won't come out on any other platforms, just that they'll need separate publishers to do so.

There's not a chance in hell Sony will publish the game for wii or 360, but it ...

Yeah, but it's not really up to them. Activision owns the game. If Infinity Ward refused to work on a wii port, Activision could just dump it in some other dev's (Treyarch?) hands.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have a wii, so I don't really care either way, but the smart money is on MW2 appearing on the wii in some form.

I disagree!

Fair enough. At least it's an answer...albeit a hostile sounding one. I just haven't been following this title until just now. Guess that makes me a troll or something.
