If they want the money, then they should make a game that people perceive has having enough value to buy new. Consumers vote with their wallets, and that is a way to increase the quality of games, by showing dissatisfaction through the purchasing of used titles rather than new.

I seriously thought that people had learned by now that retailers are NOT reliable sources of information for dates. Ever. (Unless its already been officially announced, of course :p )
It HAS to be before Christmas. If this game releases in 2011, that will be one of the biggest cock-ups of this gen, both critically and sales-wise. The Christmas market is simply too big for Sony to ignore, although yeah, a game of this magnitude will sell regardless. But it won't reach desired figures if that ends up happening. GT5 has already managed to miss Black Friday here in the U.S., and I'm sure that Sony won't want to double the blow by missing Christmas too.
As for release dates, I'm keeping hope, but Sony promised us a new release date before the end of October... and the end of October is coming up REALLY fast. That alone is a really bad sign, but still, I really don't believe that Sony has the balls to release this thing after Christmas. It would be total suicide as far as sales and critical reception are concerned.
As for the video, it looks amazing as GT5 videos always do.
You mine resources and build things with them.... While being one of the biggest grindfests you can find in gaming, it's incredibly addictive, more so than it initially sounds. Basically, it's one of the most fun and true-to-genre sandbox games that you can find.

I believe a large part of the impulsive anger has come from initial shock of the news. I'm a gigantic GT fan and even I was steaming mad when I first heard the news, and had to vent a bit on some online forums.
But now that the initial shock has gone down and reality has set in, I think that most rational people have adopted a more positive attitude and are dealing with it in the best possible way.

Talk about high production values. That thing looks more interesting and longer than many stand-alone motoring books. And it's actually useful, unlike 99% of all the shit that gets thrown together in "collectors" or "limited" editions nowadays.
