A version of GP with only MS 1st party titles (probably excluding ABK) would probably fly for Sony and Nintendo. No different than EA Play or Ubisoft+ at that point
No way theyd let you sub to GP to play stuff like Persona or Yakuza though
I think we'll find out that Jeff Grubb was really an anonymous source all along according to N4G
@-Foxtrot
Jez already said the rumors about Bond breaking the news aren't true. Poor guy really is having a meltdown on Twitter though. Can't blame him. This must be how Sega fans felt the day Dreamcast production ended
But yeah I've found it very strange how silent Phil has been lately. The only way Xbox should confirm this is by Phil showing up in a Playstation shirt when they announce HiFi Rush
I think the fact that ABK still isnt on GamePass and we haven't heard from Phil in months means someone crunched the numbers with Satya and Phil got overruled.
No way you can make previously 3rd party games from companies like Bethesda on a budget for only 2 platforms, especially when the one platform is losing marketshare and when they give the games away on a sub service. IIRC Starfield wasn't even a top 10 seller for 2023. Xbox spent $80 billion of daddys money...
Sarah Bond: "Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of GamePass, it's called PS5"
The 200 million MAUs sounds like he's only talking about mobile right? He says "alone" so doubt this is the entire Xbox division. ABK was previously 300 million MAU even before the merger (roughly 200 million for King and 100 million for Activision/Blizzard)
@recoctimocassirnff
Uhh I mean lying about these numbers is actually illegal (unlike lying to gamers) and they'd be lying to shareholders, who are the only people who can actually hurt them.
Also, if they're going to lie these numbers arent the greatest.
MS FY Oct- Dec 2022 4.758B + Activision Oct- Dec 2022 2.33B = 7.09B for Oct-Dec 2022
They had literally no growth from 2022 to 2023, they just combined their revenues....
Software is much more profitable to Sony too. Looking at their last financial report software was almost 2x as much revenue
"Sony announced results for the second quarter of fiscal 2023 (July-September 2023). Its revenue rose 32% year-on-year to ¥954.1 billion ($6.32 billion).
Of that amount, ¥479.3 billion ($3.2 billion) came from game and content sales. Revenue from console sales totaled ¥287.5 billion ($1.9 billion), and revenue fro...
Straight from their conference call: "Total gaming revenue in line with expectations due to stronger than expected performance from activision, with offsets from weaker than expected performance from the console market."
They are expecting about $300 million in revenue from consoles in Q1 2024. They are expecting to ship less than 1 million consoles globally for the next quarter
They got completely carried by ABK. Can easily see why they fought...
This is literally straight from their earnings report. These are the numbers they give to shareholders
Rumored Leaked List so far:
Death Stranding 2
Silent Hill 2
Judas (New Ken Levine Game)
Stellar Blade
Ronin
Sonic Generations Remaster
New Metro (with VR mode)
FF7 Rebirth
Until Dawn Remaster
State of Plays are usually very underwhelming but them confirming 15+ games is very exciting
At what point does this go from funny to sad
The US data that just came out for physical data in 2023 was:
>50% Switch
40% Playstation
<10% Xbox
The spread is probably higher in other countries due to cost/internet etc. I know in Australia for instance a physical game will often be 20-30AU$ cheaper than digital. Sony was still making a good chunk of change off physical based on the Insomniac leaks
The world isn't ready for all digital this decade
There are some important differences between PC and consoles.
There are no "generations" on PC. So stuff released 10-15 years ago is still playable. Theres no guarantee anything you buy digitally today on console will be downloadable/playable in 10-15 years, but I think this is unlikely.
On PC you have 3rd party options for storefronts. If a console maker goes all digital they have a total monopoly and control over pricing, dont even have to wor...
Jez is MS PR. His statement is already wishy washy enough to soften the blow when Avowed/Indiana Jones are digital only
What's crazy is COD still isnt even on GamePass yet. Not a single gamer has benefited from this acquisition yet (and honestly probably won't) and now 1900+ families are in financial hell
This is probably the best trailer for this game yet.
I really want more details on the Live Service aspect though. How will the microtransactions/monetization be
Usually no. They did allow Early Access for Temtem and I know of at least one other but can't seem to remember it.
Wonder if it will break PUBGs record
Probably want to wait for the fervor to die down a bit before announcing anything. And also buying time for their PR team to make sure the message comes out as best as it can
