Kinda the only exclusive PS5 game this year vs the ~30th Mario game on a console at the end of its life with a pretty stacked year. Both games will have legs and I'm sure SMW will still sell a ton over time

At the very least put more of it on PS+

The fact Phil has said there's no world where Starfield is an 11/10 and makes people buy an Xbox shows he's completely out of his league. News flash Phil, its a game console. If the games on it are good, people will buy it. It works for Nintendo, it works for Sony. It really is that simple.

College LAN Halo parties which eventually turned into Gears parties were some of my best gaming memories. They completely ruined their reputation with the One reveal conference and I havent found a good reason to buy an xbox since then

Most surprising is non-mobile subscription spending dropped 2%. Not sure how much of that was people dropping PSN but not looking like a large surge in GP subs either

12 years ago you couldnt go anywhere on the internet without seeing Fus Ro Dah or "I took an arrow to the knee" memes. Starfield is definitely not as much in the public consciousness as Skyrim was

Original tweet mentions only single digit % growth for Xbox sales. Granted, the game is also on PC so it won't push console sales as much as a Nintendo or PS exclusive

@MTRNYC

Somehow Microsoft convinced people that with GamePass all of the following are true:

1) Microsoft makes more money
2) Developers make more money
3) Consumers spend less money

Do the math, its not possible.

A WoW subscription is at least $13/month. Rolling that into GamePass at the current price would be a huge net loss at GamePass' current pricing. Any division that just spent $80 bill...

Total employees for Insomniac is roughly the same as Bethesda Game Studios, Larian, and Naughty Dog (400-500). Insomniacs output is unmatched when compared against any of them

Some people don't get sarcasm.

Truth is as much as we all hate Bobby Kotick he took a studio that mainly churned out low budget licensed crap into the biggest 3rd party publisher in history. He's the only person Microsoft has with a proven track record of being able to manage and organize talent and game projects, and microsoft is sending him away in 2 months. ATVI is definitely going to stay a COD factory

Just FYI the vertical stand is not required. The ps2/ps3/ps4 could all also be vertical and had optional vertical stands sold separately

Look, if you think Microsoft spent $67 billion to keep billion dollar franchises like COD and all their other GaaS going I don't know what to tell you. Any true gamer knows the real value is in being able to create sequels to single player classics like Prototype, Singularity, and Blur

Bobby Kotick was a cancer on the gaming industry and led a terrible culture at Activision full of sexual harassment scandals. The best part of this deal is Microsoft giving Bobby Kotick exactly what he deserves: a $520 million dollar golden parachute.

Thank you Phil, i can now rest easy tonight

Buying Ubisoft so they can get those cloud rights back

If the FTC can't touch Ticketmaster they clearly dont have the power to do anything at all

Really hard to think of a Dev with a better run than late 90s/early 2000s Blizzard. Just non-stop commercially successful, genre defining GOTYs

It is such a shame to see how far they've fallen

Its not that they'll stop courting 3rd party developers, it'll actually be the opposite if they reach the critical mass they're hoping for. They'll have the ability to say "if you want your games to make money on xbox, you'll take this deal or get nothing at all."

@TQQ its definitely about getting games on GamePass. Keeping stuff of Playstation is a nice secondary gain for them (though theyre probably losing more money by not selling on PS honestly)

The money required to get games like Starfield on GamePass would have been astronomical. Activision themselves said that putting games on gamepass is value destructive and that they would never do it themselves. They even told this to the FTC judge
