When Sony advertised the price drop from $399.00 -> $299.00 it was a significant price drop and it made the PS3 competitive with the 360 in price. I'm not sure Sony can justify paying money for advertising after reducing the price $50.00 per console this time around...
Personally I'm waiting for the PS3 and 360 with the HDD to drop to $199.00 so I can get a second PS3 for my bedroom and a second 360 for my kids bedroom. Once both consoles reach that price point we ...
schizoidembolism: Do you really believe what you just wrote? A sale is a sale. No matter what the reason it all counts toward the worldwide totals that are reported in each companies shipment figures released every fiscal quarter. Bottom line is the Xbox 360 is leading the PS3 by over 3 million consoles.
For the record I am on my second 360 and second PS3. I replaced my 360 with a used one at Gamestop because the DVD drive died. I purchased a new 120GB PS3 Slim because I got ...
It's because it's a Nintendo 3DS and not a Sony 3DS. The majority of this website doesn't like anything not manufactured by Sony. My stepson just got a Nintendo 3DS for his bday this past weekend. He loves it. I personally will be buying a Sony PS Vita sometime next year because it appeals to me more. But there is absolutely no reason for anybody to hate on the Nintendo 3DS. Especially at the price tag of $169.00 USD.
Nintendo has their own market that they appeal to. Personally I wish Nintendo had just implemented better hardware instead of going the 3D rout. But just like with all of their earlier portable consoles. The games will make the system and not the hardware specs.
My wife bought a 3DS for her son this past weekend. He like sit. But the 3D did put some strain on my wife's eyes. I think Nintendo made a mistake with the 3D. I didn't find the 3D aspect that appealing either...

I read the article. It's one companies analysis. No mention on how they gathered their data to determine "active" devices. Bottom line is as of June 2011 according to both companies fiscal reports, Microsoft had shipped 55 million 360's and Sony had shipped 52 million PS3's.
Read this if you want ...
You know what they say about assuming... According to your original statement Bathyj the 55+ million existing owners of the 360 "PROBABLY" own all 5 of these games in the bundle. Logic dictates otherwise because only 20 percent of the Xbox 360 user install base even owns Halo 3 and an even smaller percentage owns any of the other games in this bundle. But nice attempt to downplay anything positive about the 360. Typical behavior for you on this site and others.

Let me make this clear. I am stating that my "PREFERENCE" is XBL and the 360 controller. I did not say that PSN or DualShock3 were bad. In fact I use my PS3 a lot for it's exclusives and watching Blu-Ray movies.
The best part is that I get to enjoy both online services, controllers, and games because I own BOTH.
No reason to be jealous or to hate the "other" console anymore.
The way XBL has been setup since day one and has expanded is why I prefer XBL to PSN. They have made it easy for me to communicate or play games with my friends. Achievements, game invites, messaging, etc... have all been there since day one. I can't really explain this correctly. But XBL has been integrated into the 360 in every possible way. It's almost as if they setup XBL first and then built the 360 hardware around it.
PSN has come a long way too. But trying to o...
Some of us have had our PS3's for 4-5 years and would like to see what the next generation of consoles has to offer. I admit I am a bit of a graphics whore and would like to see games that run at 1080P resolution 30-60fps with all graphical effects enabled.
We have already pretty much hit the ceiling this generation as far as graphics go. We may see marginal improvements going forward but that's it. If wanting to see games advance with new hardware after 5-6 years of ...
This and Battlefield 3 are my most anticipated games of the year.
Microsoft had nothing to gain by supporting the original Xbox after the 360 had gained traction. The original Xbox couldn't compete with the PS2 and wasn't making any profit. Though a lot of original Xbox owners including myself weren't happy with that decision in hindsight it makes sense now.
It doesn't make sense to totally abandon a user base of 55+ million that is continuing to grow and producing profit. Microsoft is a profitable company. No matter what mi...
I'm honestly considering purchasing a Vita at launch. By the looks and sounds of everything Sony has a real winner on their hands. I bought 4 PSP's for each of my children but never really found a great desire to play on theirs or have my own. The Vita is SEXY in every way.
Microsoft said that they think the 360 will be the top selling console this holiday because of games and features that Kinect provides.
Basically he claims that with Kinect, Microsoft is providing a full range of experiences for the full range of customers.
I know a lot of N4G hates on Kinect. But Microsoft's strategy is working. The 360 has been on market for almost 6 years now and at this point in the lifespan in order to maintain or increase sales the...
It's trolling because he went on some needless 360 bashing tirade in his comment. This article is about the PS3's price drop. Maybe next time he should stay on topic. The fanboy wars are old and played out. You can get a 360 and PS3 combined for less than the original launch price of the PS3 5 years ago. Maybe instead of bashing the console he doesn't have he should see what he is missing.
I was the same way when I bought a 360 at launch. But once I got my PS3 my ...
If the PS3 is so much more powerful than the 360 then why do games like UC2, GOW3, and KZ3 look "ONLY" marginally better than Gears of War?
Why is it that games such as Crysis 2, Gears of War 3, and Rage give Sony First Party Exclusives all the competition they can handle in the graphics department. Why is it that all 3 of these titles I just listed programmed using middleware that is created to be used for 360/PS3/PC.
What is Sony saving "TEH ...
I am on my second PS3 because my original 60GB launch PS3 got YLOD. I know quite a few PS3 and 360 owners who have either replaced out of warranty consoles or purchased more than one of the console for their own personal use. For any of us to pretend that their are 50 million + unique PS3 or 360 owners out there is a bit of a stretch.
It was the same during the PS1 and PS2 days. I know plenty of people including myself who had purchased multiple PS1's and PS2's. Happe...
My sister bought her PS3 primarily as a Blu-Ray player.
My brother bought his PS3 to play games and watch Blu-Ray movies about equally.
I bought my PS3 primarily to play games, but I also have a decent Blu-Ray movie collection and only buy movies on Blu-Ray now as a result.
Hard to figure out what percentage of owners only use the PS3 as a Blu-Ray player with the occasional casual videogame. But to me if I was looking to buy a Blu-Ray player ...
The user install base is just over 50 million. As the user install base increases so will the game sales.
Look at last generation with the PS2. There were only 5 games that sold over 10 million copies. They were all either GT or GTA games. That was with a 150 million + user install base.
Look at this generation. GT5 took 4 years into the PS3's life cycle to release and GTA is no longer exclusive/timed exclusive to Sony this generation.
Ex...
Look at the tendencies of exclusive sales to PS3 owners. Only a notable few have sold over 3 million LTD. Of those few GT5 and MGS4 are the best sellers. They are the 2 biggest exclusive IP's from the PS1 and PS2 days. They had the most hype this generation and were also bundled to help sales. Just like the 360's big guns are Halo and Gears. They are the 2 most popular exclusive IP's on the 360. The trends are obvious.
This article fails on many fronts. Regardless...
Since they have been known to give away PS3's with the purchase of new HDTV's over the last few years. Remember this. Somebody has to pay for those consoles regardless of how they reach consumers hands...
