How many Billions of dollars did the PS3 lose before it started turning any profit at all? If I'm not mistaken it lost over 5 billion dollars it's first 3 years before the games division started turning a profit.

It counts towards a companies profit regardless of reason. I know plenty of people who have bought multiple PS3's and 360's. I have purchased 2 PS3's. I have purchased 2 new 360's and 1 used 360.
The only one of my 5 total HD console purchases that doesn't count toward that sales tally is the used 360. All of the brand new ones that I have purchased qualify as a sale. Regardless of reason.

Although I am getting a Vita at launch, I do find myself doubting how successful the Vita will be. The price is going to hurt its overall sales numbers. At $250.00 - $300.00 plus memory card which is not included the Vita is basically more expensive than the PS3 or 360.

How can it not last? It's consistently the number one selling console in North America even after multiple price cuts of the PS3. It still sells well in the EU market.
