Too bad 90 percent of N4G's population will disagree because they are loyal to another console. Bottom line is Microsoft took marketshare away from Sony. They established themselves as the leader in the North American market. XBL is the market leader in online gaming service. Now Kinect is helping Microsoft expand it's consumer audience.
They did all this with RROD, poor sales in Japan, a lack of internal software development studios in comparison to Sony or Nintendo....
Why does everyone assume Microsoft will stop supporting the 360 once the new Xbox launches. The 360 is profitable unlike the original Xbox. I think Microsoft fist party as well as 3rd party developers will continue to support the 360 for years after the new Xbox launches.

There were no hidden costs. If you wanted to play multiplayer on-line you had to get Xbox Live Gold. If you wanted WIFI then you had to buy the adapter. These were all optional and not necessary. Nothing hidden there.

The only fail I see is your comment. Kinect is a success whether you like it or not. Contrary to popular belief on N4G Microsoft has managed to expand their user install base to the more casual crowd while still pleasing it's core crowd.
I'm personally looking forward to buying a few Kinect games for the family this holiday season...

On Topic: I had a lot of fun playing Dance Central with my kids. Contrary to popular belief on N4G. Kinect is actually a good alternative way to play games. Plus 360 owners still get access to so called "core" games. WINNING

Tell me how the 360 is "SERIOUSLY" lacking in comparison to the 360? Look at the whole library of games since both consoles launched and they are very comparable.
I will admit the PS3 has done better in the "EXCLUSIVES" department the past 18 months in comparison to the 360. But it's not the end all/be all that PS3 fans make it out to be.

I have PSN and XBL since I own both the 360 and PS3. I prefer XBL. But that is my opinion. PSN is a good service too. It has improved considerably since the PS3 first launched.
Judging by your comments... You're hung up on dissing Microsoft and Americans. Hate all you want. But Microsoft is doing something right in the US if they are still managing to outsell the PS3 even after the Sony reduced the price again.
