Everyone being the journalists right? Apparently their opinion doesn't hold much weight because PS Vita sales are nothing to cheer about.
Anyways the price isn't the problem. It's the lack of demand. Not very many people want to play PS3 quality titles outside of their home.
This may not make sense to the majority of N4G. But the current videogame marketplace shows this to be true.
And you are underestimating the "DEMAND" for a hardcore dedicated handheld gaming console in today's marketplace DragonKnight.
The Vita is a great piece of hardware. The game selection is decent. The price is reasonable. Yet it has struggled to get to even 3 million sold. There is no momentum heading into the holidays. Yet we're supposed to believe the Vita will be fine???

Maybe in Europe or Japan territories where the PS3 is in higher demand than the 360. But at this point in the life-cycle of the PS3 6 years after release I doubt their is a demand great enough to justify selling at $100.00 less and draining profit to gain marketshare...
I doubt their is much stock left. Sony had to have been reducing manufacturing leading up to the release of the redesigned Slim model.
While I would love to see Sony reduce the price so I can get a second PS3 for use in my bedroom. I don't see it happening because they need to offset losses in their other divisions by making their games division more profitable.
The Vita is a beautiful BEAST. The problem is nobody outside of the really hard core impulse buyer is purchasing them right now.
Not sure why they are surprised. 3rd Party developers got burned by the PSP and Vita hardware sales are slow. I have said it before and I will say it again. Sony misjudged the demand for a dedicated handheld gaming console in todays market.
Sorry. My comment should have said the hardcore Nintendo fans are rushing out to get a Wii U at launch. But I bet once Nintendo starts advertising the Wii U showing off the tablet style controller and word of mouth spreads that the Wii U will start selling to the casuals too...
Just goes to show that popular opinion on N4G is not reflective of reality. Nintendo has a loyal hardcore following for their first party games and seems to have mastered the art of appealing to the casual gamers too.
I'm not going to rush out and buy a Wii U immediately at launch. But I plan to buy one as soon as Mario Kart and Super Smash Brothers is released.
I don't understand the disagrees to this comment. He is right. Microsoft has become a major player in the videogame console business with the Xbox 360. Not to mention they have expanded the 360 into being a central media hub for the living room.
I can see maybe expanding the next Xbox to also include F2P games. But abandoning their core videogame business would not be very intelligent...
Both games will be getting love from me during the holidays. I enjoy playing Halo and COD multiplayer. Both are enjoyable in their own right.

I think everyone on N4G that is either doubting Nintendo or just plain hating is in for a shock. Nintendo seems to have the types of games that attract the "mass market" consumers. If the WiiU is $299.00 or less then it is going to fly off shelves this holiday season and beyond.
Tablets are the impulse buyer craze right now. Nintendo is releasing a console that has upgraded graphics and makes use of a tablet controller. How is that NOT going to attract casual gamers...

Also the Nintendo faithful have purchased almost 100 million Wii's. So although the majority of N4G think the Wii U will flop. I wouldn't be surprised to see it be a success. Especially seeing as how Nintendo seem to have mastered making their console both attractive and accessible to the masses.
