Yes, I've posted quite a few times about Kinect. I think it's one of the worst developments for the gaming industry in a long time.
The article is right that competition is good for the industry as a whole. For the past several years, Sony and Microsoft have pushed each other to come up with bigger and better exclusives. With Kinect, though, Microsoft is essentially abandoning core gamers, leaving them with multiplats and very little else. I don't own a 36...
Of course it's a hit. In this case though, it's not good for gamers. More emphasis on motion control = fewer quality core games.
This is kind of like telling us that Battlefield 3 is going to have vehicles. Oh, and guns too.
and Motorstorm: Apocalypse
Who cares?
or if it even comes to the PS3 at all. By the time New Years Day rolls around, I'll have moved on to Mass Effect, Dead Space, Killzone, etc. I've enjoyed New Vegas, but I have no interest in DLC.
Why would anybody be ashamed about owning a PS3 just because a bunch of casuals bought Kinect? All it takes is one quick glance at the 2011 release calendar to reassure me that I picked the right console for my tastes.
Which Kinect games are you enjoying the most?
Confirmed.
I missed out on ICO and Shadow of the Collosus, so I'm really looking forward to playing the collection first and then getting my hands on the The Last Guardian. Both are day one for me.
The game is actually pretty fun when it's working. It's just deeply marred by being buggy as all hell. There are lots of little bugs that were known to exist in Fallout 3 (like the Guass rifle not doing the right amount of damage in VATS) that mindlessly got carried right over into this game too. That's just really lazy work by the developers.
Sure, we have lots of stuff to play next year, but ME2 is absolutely on my must-play list.
No firmware update can fix the biggest problem with Kinect: its lack of core games.
@maniacmayhem -- Really? Name them. Fitness games, dancing games, and on-rails games don't count as "core."
Glad to see this game is still getting support.
How can call yourself a core gamer and then say that you're looking forward to crap like that dancing game?
I wasn't buying this game anyway. Still not buying it. Activision can screw over my PS3 all it wants. Their loss.
Which Kinect game are you enjoying the most?
Exactly. I wouldn't care if Kinect was getting nothing but 10s across the board. It's crap to me until it shows me some well-made core games.
Kinnect needs this badly if its ever going to appeal to core gamers.
This is actually a service that Microsoft would be completely justified in charging a separate fee for. If XBL Platinum (or whatever) can substitute for cable or Directv, you ought to be willing to at least something to get it.
