You keep objecting, but there's really no debate that Microsoft is transitioning away from the core gamer market toward the casual market. That's what Kinect is all about, and it's the reason why the 360 has so few exclusives next year.
If I owned a 360, I'd be unhappy about that development too, but there's no need to bury your head in the sand and pretend otherwise. It's a shrewd business move for Microsoft; it just kind of sucks for gamers who...
Yes, there are going to be lots of top-shelf multiplats in 2011. But for every highly-anticipated multiplat you can name, I can name a Sony exclusive that's going to be every bit as good. It's really not an exaggeration to say that PS3 owners have about twice as many games to look forward to in 2011 as 360-only owners.
Well, Microsoft basically vacated the "core gamer" market and is devoting nearly all its resources to Kinect. Even Sony had only half as many exclusives coming out in 2011, it would win by default. The fact that it's actually putting out an other-worldly lineup turns it into a blowout.
Yep, I think we can be about 100% sure that Uncharted 3 is going to have monsters that show up about two-thirds of the way through the game. It wouldn't be an Uncharted game if it didn't have monsters.
Agreed. If this is an MMO, then I'll just spend more time with Uncharted or Mass Effect. Otherwise this is Day One.
Uncharted 2 was an extremely good game, but it didn't have enough Victor Sullivan or Eddy Raja.
Bring back Eddy Raja!
This game is still awesome. I actually prefer Drakes Fortune to UC2 in terms of gameplay, but that's just me.
Sorry to say it, but I'm almost certainly skipping Arkham City.
B:AA was really good, but I only played it through twice which is pretty marginal for $60. In a normal year I would pick up Arkham City on day one, but 2011 isn't a normal year and I'm going to have to make some tough decisions on what to play and what to skip over or delay until 2012.
To be honest, the fact that ME2(PS3) is coming out so close to Dead Space 2 and Killzone 3,...
And now we see why Kinect is bad for gaming.
I love RDR as GOTY, but it pisses me off that it loses its own category (action-adveture) to another game. That's stupid, but hey I guess we have to keep sponsors happy.
Richly deserved. Nice job RockStar.
Yep. BFBC was awesome. I could see Reach beating it out, but COD? Come on.
How the hell does AC:B beat out RDR for action/adventure GOTY but yet RDR wins overall GOTY?
Never mind. I'm cynical and I know the answer to this. What a crock.
Edit: For clarificaton, RDR is my game of the year. It just doesn't make any sense that it lost IT'S OWN CATEGORY to another game. Not a crack on Assassin's Creed.
Want this now.
I platinumed both Uncharteds (technically I platinumed the first Uncharted twice -- first to get 1000/1000 and again after the trophy patch). I love this franchise and Uncharted 3 is an automatic day one for me.
But ES5 is still higher on my list for 2011. Uncharted is awesome, but the sheer amount of gameplay in an ES game puts it really high in my book. I just hope they fix the broken leveling from Oblivion. Oh, and an updated engine please.
Yep. At least there's one console that still caters to core gamers, but we'll see how much longer that lasts.
I can't believe Dead Space 2 and Mass Effect 2 are getting released a week apart. I'll probably pick up Dead Space 2 and wait for the inevitable price cut before I get Mass Effect 2. Of course, this all becomes moot once Killzone 3 drops -- that one should keep me occupied for a couple of months at least.
Well, there goes another $60. Time to sell some blood. Or sperm.
ME2 is only a timed exclusive. In a few weeks, I'll be playing it on my PS3.
The problem with co-op is that drains resources away from the development of the single player campaign. The same levels that work fine in SP don't necessarily translate well to co-op and vice versa. I'd rather that Bethesda just focus on getting the SP right and as bug-free as possible.
