Spec Ops: The Line was a really pleasant surprise. I never would have played this had it not been for PS+.

I'd buy Uncharted 4 if it came out tomorrow, and that's probably my favorite franchise of this generation (only Demon's/Dark Souls is in the same tier for me). But I'm not sure that a fourth intsallment wouldn't be kind of stale.

UC1 -- Focuses on Drake and develops Elena and Sully as side characters.

UC2 -- Focuses on the relationship between Drake and Elena.

UC3 -- Focuses on the relationship between Drake and Sully. <...

Agreed. I don't like what COD has done to the shooter/action genre, but there's no arguing with the fact that yes, apparently millions of people are quite happy to buy essentially the same game every year. Kind of hard to blame Activision for that.

I'm guessing you've never played a God of War game before if you think that this particular scene is somehow different from about two dozen other, similar scenes scattered throughout the franchise. Hell, the scene with Poseidon in God of War III was more brutal than that, and that was like 15 minutes into the game.

I honestly doubt that there's a single person anywhere who is sincerely offended by this. It's not like Sony Santa Monica came up with this expression all by themselves -- it's been around for at least two decades.

This is just a case of some people looking for an opportunity to express some faux-outrage. That's all.

The developers have a point. $60 isn't a lot of money for a game that you're going to get a lot of playing time out of. For example, I bought Bad Company 2 at launch for $60 and sank about 250 hours into it. I can't think of any other leisure purchase I've made in the last several years that gave me that much value-per-dollar. I could make the same argument for Killzone 2, Skyrim, and a bunch of other games.

Even if you throw MP and huge RPGs out, I thin...

Agreed. I had a BC PS3 (until it crapped out), and I used the BC capability a grand total of once. Don't miss it at all, won't miss it on the PS4.

Backwards compatibility is the most overrated feature any console has to offer.

@izumo

My feelings exactly. I hope this is a lesson for other developers. Turning your successful horror franchise into COD is not a recipe for success -- please stop doing this.

I loved the first two games, but as soon as they announced co-op for the third, I knew they were in Resident Evil territory.

Oh well. Thanks for two awesome games.

Dragonslayer Ornstein and Executioner Smough.

All other bosses are just fighting for second place.

5/5 doesn't mean "perfect." It means a very, very good top-shelf game. That's all.

Nice article. Unfortunately, the decline of MS core exclusives was 100% predictable as soon as Kinect was announced. I don't doubt that the 720 will feature some core launch titles (it pretty much has to), but we know that MS is more committed to Kinect's audience than it is to core gamers, so I'd expect those exclusives to peter out pretty quickly.

Loved this mechanice in the Demon's Souls / Dark Souls series. Glad to see other franchises picking it up.

"Tactical advantage?" Come on. Nobody cares about who announced first or who had the slicker presentation. All that matters is what the console does and what games you can play on it.

"This shouldn’t be a massive surprise as Ken Levine recently stated that several hours of content needed to be cut from the game. It’s very likely that much of that cutting-room floor content is going to be sold seperately and offer additional side-stories into the Infinite world."

Cut material from the game, and sell it back as DLC. Great. Just great.

Speaking as + subscriber, you and edonus are both right. I've played some pretty good games thanks to my Plus subscription that I never would have played otherwise because they had fallen off my radar screen, such as Bioshock 2 and Darksiders. The only PS+ game I got that I might have bought anyway was Infamous 2.

This is clearly a case of win-win for Sony and the consumer. I get a bunch of high-quality games -- not to mention discounts -- for less than the price of ...

I had a BC PS3 for a couple of years before the optical disc failed. I used the BC feature a grand total of once. So yeah I'm completely indifferent to whether the PS4 is BC or not. If it is, great. If not, that's fine too.

Agreed. Killzone 3 was a big step backwards. The removal of spawnable squad leaders and spawn grenades removed any element of teamwork and turned it into something more like COD. And it was also unfortunate that the best multiplayer map was a recycled KZ2 map (Salamun).

I'm hoping that KZ4 goes back to its roots and doesn't just try to out-COD COD.

Lots of wishful thinking in this article, and all four points are weak and/or wrong.

1. Okay, developers get their money when retailers order new units. Eliminate the used game market, and retailers have to order more new copies. More money for developers.

2. Manufacturing old games isn't a big deal, especially when they can be delivered digitally for literally zero marginal cost.

3. There are other retailers besides GameStop that can m...
