On Tuesday, I'm going to download Sleeping Dogs at a marginal cost of zero. If that isn't "free," I don't know what is.

Yes, there's an up-front cost, but each individual game thereafter is in fact free.

"It's worth taking into account that Sony requires an online pass for all their first-party games so that people buying used have to cough up extra cash if they want to play their games online. This is something that Microsoft do not do to their customers, and they appear to be much more tolerant of used games than Sony is. "

Yeah, because Microsoft would never charge people to use their own internet connections to play online games that they already bought.

I owned both Pac-Man and ET. I think that's why I'm so jaded and cynical as an adult.

If somebody wants to tell me that Dark Souls isn't his cup of tea, that's fine. This franchise wasn't designed with mass popular appeal in mind. But anybody who gives this game a 6/10 is either just trolling for hits or needs to stick with Angry Birds.

Challenge and a sense of accomplishment.

Can't argue with #1 or #2. That said, I would have liked for the rusting shipyard from U3 to work its way in there someplace. I liked that setting a lot.

I'd be okay with a straight port under the circumstances. Rather have them do that and put the time saved toward a new title or DLC.

Yes, N4G is exactly like Hitler-era Germany. That is an excellent argument with no discernable weaknesses, and you hereby win the internet. Well done.

I'm fairly sure the author understands that most adults do not literally become fearful while playing video games. He's just using the word "scary" to indicate games that fall within the horror genre.

If you need any other assistance interpreting the english language, please let me know.

I simply can't be bothered to read paragraphs that long. Any way they could break it up into 20-24 pages instead of just 11? I really want to have to click my mouse a few more times to read what they have to say.

Of course it is. People buy and sell used cars all the time, and nobody thiks anything of it. There is no ethical difference between buying a used F-150 from its current owner and buying a used copy of GOW3.

It would be differen if we were talking about downloading a copy of a digital file from a server someplace, but as long as we're talking about the resale of physical media, there's no ethical issue involved at all. You own it and it's yours to resell if you...

Honestly, the Uncharted franchise is the only one I can think of that didn't seem to be diminished by the inclusion of multiplayer. And the multiplayer was pretty good too, not just an afterthought. Every other game I can think of that tacked on a multiplayer mode (e.g. Dead Space, Mass Effect, Bioshock) seemed the worsed for it.

Edit: Actually, Demon's Souls / Dark Souls is another exception, but the multiplayer functionality in that game is so unique that I tend ...

This is just an extreme illustration of why I don't trust reviews from gaming media. If I'm on the fence about a game, I always wait a week or so for user reviews to roll in. Those are much better.

I haven't played Tomb Raider yet (looking forward to it, though) so I can't comment on the comparisons. Having said that, I'm always thrown when people complain about the shooting mechanics in Uncharted. The shooting controls in that game are absolutely perfect to me; headshotting pirates never gets old and makes me enjoy replaying these titles.

Same here. Time to buy Motorstorm RC -- and I'll have enough left over for a theme.

Yes. It plays a lot like Uncharted, only everybody has less health (you and enemies both). Only real complaint is that it's pretty short, but it's very good otherwise.

So glad Spec Ops The Line was free this month on Plus. I would never have played that one otherwise, and it definitely puts their next title squarely on my radar screen.

Was anybody actually hyped for Duke Nukem Forever? I thought it was pretty clear all along that that game was going to be horrible.

I'm on Chapter 10, and FUBAR really hasn't been a big deal so far. There were some segments that took a bunch of tries to get through, like the beginning of Chapter 6, but nothing that I couldn't handle. It's about on par with Crushing in Uncharted 1.

Completely lame. Should have just left the trophy as-is.
