It shows right on their chart, that while the WHOLE PIE of gaming has increased near 2 fold over the last 10 years, PC gaming has seen it's own share decrease by half.
Why? Because consoles are more powerful than ever, are easy and trouble free to operate, and as a result of that, a sort of bi product, consoles carry a more sizable edge regarding game genres. For example, there's no Madden for the PC.
I don't think PC gaming will ever die, but it will likely never ...
I've heard this argument before, but as a first time GTA'er, maybe you can explain to me how or why you couldn't do crazy, silly, or over the top stuff in GTA4.
Could you not steal cars, kill grandma's with rocket launchers, blow up gas stations, steal helicopters, consort with prostitutes and all kinds of other degenerate things? Assuming this kind of stuff is fun (and I think it is), why would this not be enough pandemonium?

I'm fairly new to this generation of gaming (PS3 purchased 6 months ago), and I have to say I'm a little saddened by the fact that I won't be getting to play this on my PS3. I pretty much skipped most of last generation consoles and I've been wanting to play the Splinter Cell series for a long time. I'm a little disappointed.
Beating the game 1 time was VERY freakin hard...VERY.
But that wasn't the hard part. The hard part, scratch that...the IMPOSSIBLE part was them immediately asking you to do it again....and There were no codes. Also, the game came out before there was a such thing as "TURBO" on your controllers.
The only game on the list that I played was Ninja Gaiden (#3 on the list), I beat that one, and that game was childs play compared to Ghosts and Goblins.
It's been 2 1/2 years.
2 1/2 years of perpetual snubbing. As if to say "You and your game system aren't worth my time".

After all the sh*& Valved talked and after all this time of being treated poorly, I think Valve should issue some sort of apology....that is, if they want PS3 gamer's money.
My take.
Imagine Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, along with THE ORANGE BOX, all bundled together, and then you call it something like "THE GREENISH-ORANGISH BOX: The Apology Edition".
On the outside of the box it has an "I'm sorry, Love, Gabe Newell".
On the inside it has a target-bullseye foldout with Newell's picture on it.
If Valve came like that, with sheer comedic apology like that, Tell me you wouldn't buy it.....I would....it would be priceless.

Naughty Dog is owned by Sony.
Insomniac and Sucker Punch, are not "owned" by Sony, but Both of them have ONLY developed for Sony, except for SP's very first title on Nintendo 64. On top of that, they receive money from Sony to make their games and probably extra royalty incentives.
Don't be surprised if one day, sooner than later, Sony ends up acquiring/buying one of the 2 devs....maybe even both.
EA is their current publisher for their retail level titles.

PS3 should be very close to breaking even now, and 4 months from now, PS3 will definitely be well under $400 to manufacture.
it's now July and we haven't even got a release date yet.
I've been waiting for this for a while so, hopefully they get it right. I do admire them for not putting out a broken game like so many other companies have done to us.
As is, it was cool because it was free, but as a serious game, it cannot be taken seriously, rather just something to have and do because it was free.
But to think that it's gonna move more copies than GT5.....that's not really reasonable.
GT5P, who some people call a demo, that sold over 3.5 million copies.
I wouldn't call God Of War a niche title, but compared to GT5, it is. Gran Turismo is a game that can be played by ANYONE.....kids, teens, adults, soccer moms, pets (if they could hold a controller)....its a game made for EVERYONE.
