I'd say this E3. New IPs need more time to breath at first because you're describing a new universe, new characters, new storylines, potentially new combat mechanics..etc.

Sequels are built on foundations and can be shown, then released within a calender year. But new IPs require alot of build up, so I hope they bring it to E3 this year, make sure it gets the exposure it needs.

It will be easier, since the API is designed to alleviate bottlenecks on both Nvidia and AMD cards. So optimizing drivers is significantly less of a hassle.

In regards to the XB1, it should be as easy as building for the PC, if not even easier due to unchanged specs.

The one issue that may slow down the process is adaptation of the tech by other companies. MS needs to make sure the tools are ready for every developer and the ease of use of getting it up and r...

@GameNameFame

What the hell are you talking about? Multi-threading by big devs? Are you serious?

OK, since you want to talk like you're apparently a brilliant programmer and engineer, I want you to do me a favor.

I want you to show me an API (aside from DX12) that allows for a CPU to use anything but Thread 0 as the operation starter.

Go ahead, we'll wait.

I don't think Hololens will be the only solution for the XB1. I think there will be a version that uses compatibility with the Kinect for motion sensing.

That's one of the problems Oculus is facing with depth sensing. Kinect would alleviate that issue and since it's already designed for the XB1, that would obviously fit.

I think Hololens is going to be too expensive for casuals. But a pair of goggles + Kinect might be a cheaper alternative.

Your entire argument is based around two franchises?

The way people are talking in the comment section here is that there are like 20+ franchises that are annualized, and it's somehow this epidemic that plagues the entire industry.

And if we're talking about sports games, then The Show gets put into the conversation, which makes even less sense because he's then negatively speaking about the only baseball game available, which is their exclusive. ...

Although I agree with your assessment, the analogies you used are incorrect.

At an amusement park, I can pay a fee for the entire park, where there are numerous different rides. That would be more akin to the idea of a subscription.

In this case, you paid for the entire park, only to get to go on one ride, granted, as many times as you want.

Also, you're not taking into consideration that there are other $60 games...

Are you kidding me? No really. ARE YOU JOKING?

When a developer shows us footage running at 1080p60 and says they are in-game visuals in a real level running on the PS4.....I KIND OF EXPECT THAT.

I don't know what world you live in where devs can show footage, STATE NUMBERS, then not get called out because of a disclaimer.

They said 1080p60. That's a fact. No disclaimer needed. If you want to give ND a...

I would normally agree with your statement, but it's been said that the E3 Trailer was running at 60fps.

So technically, they showed the game, which supposedly is an in-game level, running at 60fps. And are now targeting 30fps most likely.

You can't really unveil a target, say it's running on PS4 hardware in-engine in real time, then simply downgrade it by half.

That E3 trailer is the real problem here. It looked phenomenal and th...

Driveclub is entirely different. The level of motion blur that is acceptable and/or needed in a racing game far exceeds what can be used in a TPS like Uncharted.

The sense of speed and fluidity in DC is masked by multiple different processes that would actually ruin the experience of UC4.

Also, the numbers for UC4 wouldn't really be a problem if they hadn't made those outrageous statements about 60fps and never wanting to go bac...

There are certain genres that see bigger benefits from 60fps, compared to some genres that don't see as big a difference.

Like you said, fighting games and sports/racing are definitely in need of 60fps. They are more responsive at 60fps. I think people talk about fluidity with 60fps too much, when the real benefit is responsiveness. A game is simply more responsive at 60, not just more fluid.

Cars in racing games become more responsive, not just fluid. Ag...

Although I agree with playing as the bad guy seems cool, the problem is "the good guys" don't seem to be shooting at the player nearly as often as when we fight bad guys.

To say that we simply switched roles and suddenly play the villain means there is a Nathan Drake or a Master Chief or a Marcus Fenix..etc coming after us.....

...which doesn't seem to be happening.

In my opinion, this is simply a murder simulator where NOT ...

Suit #2 - Focus tests say this works well.

Suit #3 - Do you have any charts to show the margin growth between game covers with or without a gun?

Suit #4 - I put together this PowerPoint to showcase the importance of a man holding a gun and how it proportionately affects sales.

Maybe if it gets localized. Right now this is only for Japan, with no intention of bringing it West.

If this doesn't get a Western release, Deep Down better get localized here.

It's so weird that these kinds of games don't get released in the West. There are some obvious Japanese games that wouldn't sell here, but games like Dragon Dogma and Deep Down would obviously move some units.

I realize in a F2P model, it's differen...

You aren't fixing AI in the last build. Nor are you fixing QTEs and mission structure.

Once a game is content locked, it's locked. You aren't adding content or cutting content. Last couple builds are polish. Optimizing performance and bug testing.

Inherent gameplay problems are not being fixed last minute. Redesigning AI would completely destroy set pieces and mission structure, especially in a story focused game.

If what he descr...

Actually, the article was about the guy saying he'd buy it for like $40, but not $60.

So, he's saying you'd be paying 50% more than you should. I'm not entirely sure that would be a positive thing.

Even if the article had a more positive tone, the fact that he's saying it's not worth $60 eliminates most of the positive stuff.

I don't know man. Remedy has always had issues hitting deadlines. Being a 1st Party Studio puts more pressure on hitting dates because 1st Party is going to get the most marketing treatment. Entire lineups for the year are built around that kind of stuff.

I wouldn't want quality to take a hit because of a deadline. It happened with 343 and Evolution just a couple months ago.

Being a "2nd party" studio gives them a little more freedom and at ...

100% most definitely. They showed Forza 5 last year on the PC at the original DX12 conference. So they've had DX12 longer than probably anyone, except for 343.

To be honest, the people I'm most excited to hear from, is Epic.

Forza uses a proprietary engine, so does 343, so does Remedy and a bunch of other first party studios.

So I want to hear from the guys at Unreal, since they aren't building hardware specific, they're essen...

Hearthstone is another type of game that would be cool with this. The whole PathFinder RPG stuff might work digitally as well. UI for stats in real time? Not bad.
