You're looking at a GPU benchmark, when in fact, the CPU is the biggest limiting factor of the generation.
Operational tasks are done on the CPU, then sent to the GPU. If the CPU is taxed, then it doesn't matter how much power the GPU has, it will never be fully used. A GPU can do so much more, but if the information is struggling to feed the GPU, then you're not getting 100% usage out of the GPU.
And if you didn't know, the XB1 has a more pow...
It would be the pinnacle of the series....
...then every version after would never live up to how awesome it was in Feudal Japan.
The only plausible way to do Japan for AC, is to end the entire series with it or make it the second to last game in the series.
There's no way you can go to Feudal Japan, play as a true stealthy assassin, then go to something like London or France or Russia or Egypt and expect it to be of the same caliber.
You also need a computer to run the DK2 and a pretty powerful one to run it at 120hz. So you gotta factor that into the pricing of the dev kit.
This is more akin to XB1 or PS4 price for dev kits. Those are around $2500-$3000 as well.
It's not "terribly" priced considering what you're getting, but I would have NEVER stated the price on stage. People believe the product is going to cost that much at retail, which is making people less positive...
But Nintendo isn't putting out NEW titles for the Wii.
New games that are available and being purchased right now for the 360, can be available in a few months on the XB1.
It's not just about games from 2007 or something. It's about content those people are buying THIS YEAR.
Do you really think XBox 360 owners are buying games this month, only to buy a PS4 during the Holiday sales?
No. They aren't spending mon...
I'm curious if you're counting games that are also on Vita and PS3.
I only ask because when Universal Apps hit the Windows 10 store, "technically" those could be construed as XB1 exclusives, if you're going by the same line of thinking.
And if that's the case, DX12 code is universally adapted to all MS products. Write for one platform, deploy to 4 devices. So that 122 number is going to skyrocket.
@Rainslacker
Then you have to explain the addition of MP for TLOU:R.
You can't say the "splitting the community" PR makes sense, while at the same time having everyone applaud them for adding MP to TLOU:R.
Why did TLOU get a remastered MP? And not only that, TLOU:R came out a year after the original released. Also, that remaster was 15 months ago.
So why split a community that's significantly more vibrant th...
@S2Killin
That's actually incorrect.
It has a sound processor, frame rate converter (for reprojection) and a distortion limiter for the screen.
None of those actually do computing for graphics. So from a game dev standpoint, Morpheus doesn't get an increase in processing power because of hardware inside the HMD.
It's called "Reprojection".
It behaves in a similar way to Motion Plus on a television. It essentially interpolates frames to mask the judder needed for 120 fps.
There are alot of previews up. A few people have gotten sick due to drops in the game. You gotta realize, a drop of even 4 or 5 frames, is equal to 8 - 10 with reprojection.
So take all previews with a grain of salt, because it's tough to gauge since everyone reacts...
Marston? Good Lord, he sucked.
All he did was run errands for the first 12 hours of the game....then went back home and...you know how that ended.
We don't even meet his family for the first 12 hours. I'm supposed to engage with Marston as a character when I don't even know who I'm fighting to save because of the atrocious writing.
RDR is one of the most overrated games of all time. Terrible script, basically stole every chara...
Wasn't there an article a while back that it is first on PS4?
The game is coming to PC/PS4 same day. So why would it be considered "first on PS4" if it isn't?
WTF at this sensationalized, clickbait article.
Kind of a unique turn after Nvidia openly trashed next-gen consoles.
If their drivers weren't going to support ASync (which they said they WOULD) then their stance on dismissing the consoles functionality is a complete joke.
WOW. And those rumors that a company might buy AMD, would be pretty crazy right about now. If AMD grabs a major share of GPUs going forward, whoever buys them would make alot of money pretty quick.
I mean, if a mid ra...
Yes. AI can be offloaded to the cloud. Difference is, it would have to be online only to do so. That's going to ruffle feathers of the "I don't have internet" people who post on the internet........
But it's more than AI.
Water Simulation: They could render bodies of water like how CD3 is doing buildings. Each square mile of water could be calculated with accurate physics collisions so the ship traverses the waves in a realistic fashion....
I agree on the sluggish part. It's sometimes slow loading up certain things.
But I love the pins. Hitting Home, then tabbing over to the left and seeing my favorites is so simple.
Or even hitting Home, then go to Games and Apps on the Home Screen and seeing everything is super simple.
I don't like the pin placement on the new UI. I want a shortcut to get them whenever I need. I don't like that I have to scroll down to get to them....
@MajinVegeta
Dead Rising 4 is exclusive to PS4? WTF??
......And LOL @ the disagrees.
Why in the world would DR4 be an exclusive to.....Ohhhhh, you have trouble reading, I get it. *sigh*
Might wanna re-read the entire section. The guy who started this little chain, talked about DR4 being more impressive than DD. So the guy I responded to, asked why Capcom would make it for XB1.
This wasn't a very hard thin...
It would most likely be XB1 and PC, just like DR3. So you offset the PS4 losses with the PC version.
Plus, if the game is DX12, which it most likely would be, then the port time between PC and XB1 would only be a few days.
Porting and building between PC and PS4 takes considerably more time than PC to XB1. You have to factor dev time into the equation as well. If building a PC and PS4 game takes a few months longer, that's alot of dev costs compared to a ...
@showtime
I agree with your competition sentiment....except this time around, it's a ridiculous amount of money needed for building datacenters.
MS has dropped more than $30B into Azure. You're talking about Sony buying an SaaS approach for $330M. MS has literally spent 100x that. The cheapest datacenter MS has, cost more than both Online and Gaikai combined.
It's an apples to oranges thing in this case. It's not as if, tomorr...
@Foxtrot
So you're saying, a longer marketing campaign FORCES A DEVELOPER TO LIE?
Is this a joke or are you seriously trying to justify this?
You're going to blame the developers because gamers can't keep their expectations in check? SERIOUSLY?
That is absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention the fact that nobody is forcing a company to physically play the demo on stage. There are dozens of examples of captured gameplay where a company doesn't need to have a ZBR build perfectly tuned for an E3 or Gamescom or GDC or PSX..etc..
At the past few E3's, both MS and Sony had multiple demos on...
Lack of sales and revenue? Really? I have yet to understand this argument. Why does everyone keep saying this?
-XB1 had already outsold the WiiU less than a year into it's lifecycle.
-It also is outpacing the 360 and PS3...which each sold 85M.
It's amazing how the XB1 is lacking sales when it's outpacing almost every other console, but the PS4.
The XB1 is on target to sell almost 20M by the end of the year. And that's ...
I agree. MS should definitely have included a play-and-charge kit. They're like $25 and obviously only cost like $6-7 to make anyways. Mark up is always really big on accessories.
It would have been a nice gesture for the core gamers, especially given the somewhat high price-tag. But it's always about bottom lines, so that wasn't gonna happen.
