@Yoda

It actually works really well if you think about it from a design standpoint.

The worst thing that can happen to someone behind cover (Cogs) is an enemy getting the high ground to neutralize them from a better vantage point.

3rd Person cover could be nullified by Spartan jumping. Having Spartans in the air and shooting down at Cogs behind cover would put both in the open and at virtually equal fighting positions.

In reg...

You're telling me that the level design of 1886 is as open as QB? So, the street that gunfight took place on has the same amount of freedom the gunfights in QB had?

So the player didn't have to stand behind that pillar, he could have climbed up on the ledge and killed all those AI enemies at close range? Really?

To be clear, not once did I say the game was open world, not even close. I said freedom to fight in the level. Y...

@kingthrash

The reason 1886 gets so much hate is because of how the developers are approaching the game. Gameplay seems rather generic while presentation is crazy high production value.

It's a pretty game no question, only fanboy warriors would say otherwise. But the truth is, the gameplay we've seen is VERY TIGHTLY SCRIPTED.

I mean, you have absolutely no freedom to fight anywhere but where the developer will allow you to fight.

@badboyz

Since MS now owns both IPs, a Halo vs. Gears cross would be pretty crazy.

No story, just online MP, cloud based and dedicated servers.

Third Person vs. First Person like the original Spy vs. Merc in Pandora Tomorrow.

Objective Based Modes. Horde Mode, where you fight Spartans or Cogs depending on who you pick.

They could even do Beast Mode where you play as Covenant vs Locust.

I think this was mentioned at the reveal, but PS4 doesn't output a native rendered 4K image, aside from playback.

I can't find the exact article, but Cerny said something like 4K isn't really what this generation was built for, so they decided against 4K native rendering capabilities.

Maybe PS4 could upscale to 4K on the software side, but from what I remember, it won't be native.

It's Fable Legends.

Fable Journey was that Kinect game last generation.

Does the bundle come with a digital code or was it physical?

If they aren't counting digital in that total, are they counting FH2 bundles and/or free game promotional deals?

If digital sales and bundled games and digital codes are in that total, then yes, it's pretty average sales.

But if MS is literally only counting physical discs, then that number could easily be closer to 400-500k just for XB1.

Maybe that might change when Windows 10 gets here? We've only seen a mockup of what Windows 10 looks like, but maybe there will be more screen space to allow for customization.

@That_Guy

In these "plenty of other games", there are significantly more threats. In GTA, you get a Wanted Level, so the game shows the player he/she is doing something bad and has consequences.

In 'Hatred', do you do anything good?

Does the character do the exact opposite and allow for both sides to be played or is it specifically one sided killing?

You can't say you do the same in other games, when the...

Has that happened yet?

If it hasn't, the day a beta update bricks the XB1, is going to be one of the most ridiculous days in forum history.

With the way this generation has gone, everyone is looking for any reason to write a sensationalized headline and on that day, the amount would be almost unbearable.

It's going to be tough when the November guys show up. CoD, AC, GTA V are all going to occupy more peoples time than DC.

The free version will get a big bump, but the full game is a goner I think.

Sucks for those people who purchased it and won't get to experience what the game really tried to set out to do. Hope this doesn't hurt Evolution as a studio in the long run.

Not sure delaying it would have mattered. I don't think a few extra months would have found the bugs in the online.

They only found them after the problems started. If they didn't run into these problems during the next few months, it still would have shipped broken.

It's just a mistake on Sony and Evolution and they know it. They're lucky they shipped early October though.

If they had gone late October, then the rush of Novem...

Seriously, it's amazing how EVERY PS4 title uses some ridiculously advanced form of technology.

90% of companies use outsourced assets, yet when a PS4 game uses it, an article is made.

The Crew got moved as well to avoid November.

The problem with Project Cars to me, is the advertising budget. Driveclub, FH2 and The Crew all have/had big pushes pre-release.

I'm not sure the public is going to know much about Project Cars when it comes close to release. It's going to be pretty much relying on word of mouth, which is kind of a dangerous route to take.

The problem with both views is animation. When you run in First Person, it's a very different animation than running in Third Person.

I know that seems weird, but it's a different animation because of the speed of the character. In a FPS, you move quicker back and forth than you would in a 3rd Person game.

Look at Max Payne 3 animation or something like that and watch the footwork. Max plants his foot when turning. There is no FPS that has a character...

How many more of these.....

"They're using an advanced animation technique"
or
"High quality art assets"
or
"Physically Based This"

..kind of posts are gonna pop up on this site? There are literally HUNDREDS of studios using PBR techniques and yet, only a couple PlayStation exclusive studios get these topics.

Good Lord.

I'm not a Halo fan, mainly because I don't like FPS's, I much prefer 3rd person. But wow, that last picture is ridiculous. The armor looks crazy detailed.

The crosshair looks funny though in a couple pictures. I guess it didn't resize to a 3rd Person perspective.

Either way, I agree with you, I'm kind of blown away by it.

I don't think you're off at all. September to me was EASILY a PS4 win. It would be crazy to think that the XB1 pulled ahead.

October, in my opinion is the real toss-up, could go either way. Sunset Overdrive is really the big showcase piece for XB1 and I'm not sure how that'll turn out.

I think November is where the XB1 wins, for the same reasons you stated. If MS can sneak a September win, it definitely shows that they might have a big holiday...

Actually the XB1 outsold PS4 in December. I think that is the only month it had an edge sales wise.

I think Fable Legends is going to be Spring. The beta is coming next week I believe. So that might give enough time for March.

Quantum Break is up for grabs. I can't see Remedy hitting before summer unless it's late May or maybe even early June.

I think MS will focus on the games that got delayed til Q1 of 2015. The Witcher, Hardline, Evolve and a few others slipped to early 2015.

Since those delayed games are all multi-platform, they...
