All digital stores are the 70/30 split. Apple, Microsoft, Sony, Google Play..etc.

Also, devs don't make anything on physical, the publisher makes 60-65% of sales. Depending on the contract they have with their publisher, bonuses might be paid.

Lastly and most importantly, do you even understand how much Valve pays to "host a game"?

PENNIES! Literally pennies.

Valve doesn't have their o...

It's so ridiculous how people talk and praise Steam.

Steam is very simply this. Valve robbing developers for doing absolutely nothing in the process.

Valve takes 30% of game sales for doing what?

Publishing? Nope.
Developing? Nope.
Funding? Nope.
QA Testing? Nope.
..etc.

Valve expects the developer to finish the entire game by themselves and to take 30% of whatever they make for doing, LITE...

Exactly. At the absolute worst, there should be an option where if you're on horse, auto-aim can be turned on but when on foot, go back to manual aiming without having to constantly switch in the menus every couple minutes.

Truth is, the Horse Controls should be as follows.

Right Shoulder - Spur Horse
Left Shoulder - Pull Reigns

It's like Gas and Break in car games, but instead of using the triggers yo...

100% Correct Sir.

Aside from Max Payne 3, Rockstar has some of the worst controls and combat. Red Dead is so ridiculously over-rated it's scary.

"It's a beautiful world".
"Such great atmosphere".
"Best looking game last gen."

Anything about the repetitive gameplay? Nope.
Anything about the horrible controls? Nope.
Anything about the atrocious fetch-quest story? Nope.

Correct.

To utilize the GPU more appropriately, you cannot bottleneck the CPU.

The ability to run significantly more operations, allows the GPU to do less brute forcing and more correct processing.

DX11 multi-threading isn't in the same ballpark as DX12. Actually no API is near DX12 in that regard.

If DX12 can open up more core usage, the amount of operations that can then be fed to the GPU multiply. The tricky part is ge...

Yes, but only if companies re-write their engines to optimize for DX12. An API isn't just plug and play. And with the amount of proprietary engines, it's going to take a while to get every 3rd party fitted for DX12.

The funniest thing is, how quickly MS unveiled DX12. Within a few months of launching next-gen, MS was like, "by the way, we completely revolutionized the API landscape and it's designed for XB1 too."

MS knew DX12 coming, but...

The "doubled" statement is kind of an exaggeration actually.

The truth is, there wouldn't be as big a bottleneck on the GPU. Essentially what happens is, when you run too many operations, the first core of the CPU gets bottlenecked and new tasks are basically put in a queue.

With the DX12 approach, bottlenecking the CPU would take significantly more tasks to do it. API's up until DX12 have been designed to force the first core of a CPU to in...

GPU becomes secondary with Euclideon so that means nothing at that point. Also, GDDR5 is actually worse with Euclideon since it has higher latency in regards to computational instructions since Euclideon would be using the CPU primarily.

@Ivan

It's FAR from a scam. I have personally spoken to an engineer at Schlencker Mapping about Euclideon. Schlencker Mapping is one of the first companies in the geospatial industry to use the Unlim...

Actually, the CPU might be the most important aspect in gaming all around, come next year.

If Euclideon's technology is actually game viable, which from all estimations it will be, then the CPU would be the primary aspect to render on, not the GPU.

If you don't know about Euclideon, you might wanna look them up. They developed a revolutionary rendering technology that uses very little CPU power to render photo-real images.

They way th...

Really? The time anomalies run at good framerates?

Hmmmmmm.....that is VERY INTERESTING. Are there any comparison videos of the anomalies, because I haven't seen full breakdowns of those parts.

Wow, I'm actually very curious about this now. Great point in bringing up the anomalies, definitely something to think about in regards to optimization.

Bubble up for an interesting point that seems to have been overlooked.

The only positive thing I can say is, at least the controller doesn't look horrific in that picture.

4118d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

To be fair, the game did get delayed, so extra polish *MIGHT* have been needed to achieve it.

They also *MIGHT* be running the DX11.3 update or even a barebones DX12. Both of which would help with CPU optimization and evening out the framerate for them.

I noticed that, they did it with the exclusive content approach. They didn't include CoD and Unity. I'm curious if that is considered advertising.

Sony had the co-marketing thing with Destiny and MS did that fragrance thing to promote the game.

I wonder if Sony was not able to include 3rd party games that MS co-marketed in a montage.

Hmmmmmmm, come to think of it, I can't remember if MS ever did a montage w...

I didn't even notice they omitted DC. Yikes.

They used The Show, LBP3, First Light and TLOU:R to showcase exclusives but not DC, that's weird.

First Light is actually the only PS4 exclusive on the list too. The Show is cross, LBP3 is cross and TLOU was on PS3.

Definitely seems weird not to include another truly PS4 only exclusive in the montage.

Please stop with the list war. I said the same thing yesterday to a PS4 Fanboy.

Quantum Break was scheduled for this year.
Cup Head was announced in 2013.
Fable Legends was announced in 2013.
Below was announced in 2013.
....etc.

Same garbage goes for the PS4 list wars.

The Witness was at the PS4 reveal.
Deep Down was at the PS4 reveal.
1886 was announced in 2013.
Rime was announced in ...

That's not even true.

Why does everyone say both PS4 and XB1 have the same CPU? Clock speeds are different, ops/cycle are different, cache is different..etc.

It's funny how quick everyone is to point out the differences in GPU, but completely negate the differences in CPU, as if the CPU doesn't play the biggest part in regards to gaming.

4119d ago 5 agree1 disagreeView comment

@MonkeyOne

You're not actually correct either.

Clock speeds matter, but so do other aspects like ops/cycle.

When CPUs have higher clock speeds, that number of operations goes up. It's also dependent on how well you thread the cores to allow them to function at full capacity.

If you had a quad core at 3.2 GHz and an 8-core at 1.6, technically, you're still 12.8 GHz total for both. The dilemma then comes from thread...

I agree wholeheartedly about the Digital Foundry statement in regards to graphics. It really is amazing how people blow screenshots out of proportion, like anyone is going to notice that one texture on a cabinet in an abandoned house is slightly less detailed, without it being pointed out to them. Really annoying these days.

That being said, the thing is they also talk about frame-rates. Which for the most part, more powerful hardware should be able to handle more adequately ...

Stop with the list war junk.

Both Playstation and Xbox warriors need to just kill the lists, because they are so garbage.

A bunch of games on your list were shown in 2013 and you're using them as ammunition for 2015 because of delays.

Deep Down was shown at the PS4 reveal. The beta isn't even coming til next year. We're talking 2 years before the beta and maybe 30 months or so before release. And on top of that, it's not even ...

Exactly. This is the most absurd nonsense I've read in a while.

So let me get this straight. Nobody has ever gone to see a movie based on trailers and TV spots?

Apparently, every person, who has ever seen a movie has been on set talking with the director while they were shooting the principle. They also were sitting in the control room while colorists were grading and polishing up the clips before processing the final product.

Apparently,...
