Yeah......except not every other developer has $150M for production and $100M for marketing.

....but other than that humungous price tag that's out of the reach of 99% of all developers, I GUESS it's equal footing for developers in the industry.

When Rockstar can build GTA 6 on a small budget with 80 people, then I'll be impressed. Until then, being able to purchase AAA quality is not impressive to me.

Actually, that is not true at all.

In computational tasks (CPU related operations), DDR3 outperforms GDDR5 consistently.

Regurgitating the same garbage 170GBs v.s 60GBs argument means nothing unless you specifically designate a reason to move the data in context.

Both XB1 and PS4 should have used DDR4. Better overall and easier to design for from a development standpoint. Forcing devs to design around the limitations of each type of RAM is te...

@cgoodno and Ju

First off, Death is correct in almost everything he has written here.

Secondly, you are making the same incorrect statement everyone makes about the CPU in the XB1.

You know what I find fascinating about these conversations, how the specs of the PS4 have everything XB1 does.....plus more. That's actually very funny.

Think of it like this. You know how the PS4 has more CU's (compute units) on the GPU co...

I always see people talk about Japan and being a Ninja. I personally think the idea would work REALLY WELL....

....but it would be a disaster for Ubisoft.

The problem with Japan is that, the setting couldn't really be topped. I don't think there is a single time period/setting the AC Universe could go that would be better.

It'd have to be AC's swan song to end the series. No way are we getting a Ninja based Feudal Japan game a...

@GameName

And yet, you still don't have a clue what you're quoting. The Granite SDK is not Sony's creation, it's a middleware outside of their own API.

Secondly, DX12 Tiled Resources will be using Volume Tiled Resources.

@GameNameFame

Um, no.

PS4 will not be using Tiled Resources whatsoever. What they might potentially be using is PRT, which is infinitely different.

I'm so glad people who have no clue about technology, talk about technology so factually.

Also, ESRAM is not as strong as GDDR5? In regards to what exactly?

Since you try to come across as this brilliant engineer, explain to all of us in detail, how GDDR5 is &...

@HalfBlack

No, it's going to a bigger learning curve. The question was about Tiled Resources, not just DX12.

DX12 will be available through a somewhat similar pipeline, but Tiled Resources is different.

PC's don't have ESRAM the way XB1 does, so how would the same pipeline work for both platforms when the architecture is different?

So again, explain how the learning curve wouldn't be huge for all developers wi...

Actually, there are multiple aspects to Tiled Resources. Apparently, only one of them is attainable with the current API (DX11.2 and DX11.3).

DX12 is different though in regards to optimization and pipelines. DX12 will most likely not have all technology regarding Tiled Resources available next year.

Also, it's going to be a work in progress getting DX12 and Tiled Resources in the hands of Non-First-Party developers. It's easy to hand 343 and Turn 10 ...

Actually, that's including R&D costs which over time will be obviously be recouped.

Secondly, you have to understand it's different this time around for the Xbox Division.

Because Xbox is now using Azure, the profit made from Gold Subscriptions, no longer has to go to maintain servers entirely.

Azure is used in every form of MS's enterprising solutions. So Xbox gets a free ride on the back of all th...

In almost every one of the pictures, there are certain elements that you can easily tell something is off.

I think it looks good, and in motion it probably looks better. Some of those lower details might not be noticeable or stick out, but by themselves, they just feel off.

Is Screamride an "indie" or is it full retail? That game seems to be closer to a Summer release than a Fall or Holiday type of release.

Cuphead is another game that seems closer to late Spring or early Summer.

The game I'm curious about is The Division. Some people are saying Spring 2015, some are saying Fall 2015 and some people are saying it might even be 2016.

Personally, I think the Division is going to be big, so some games...

Exactly!

And Rallisport Challenge.

I'm not expecting gamers nowadays to have played Super Off-Road in the arcade or even played like RC Pro AM on the NES, but good lord this is a terrible list.

I hate to be the person who tells someone else their opinion is wrong, but man, that list is borderline false in every facet of the word.

This "all time list" is essentially a compiled list of the last 10 racing games in all of gaming basically...

Ohhhh, and for the record, Rallisport Challenge 1 is the greatest racing game of all time.

The End.

There are quite a few things Azure does that Gaikai doesn't.

First off, Azure is scalable. In other words, as more users jump on, servers can essentially be spooled up to offer more bandwidth. Think of it like, extra servers as backup whenever the load gets too heavy.

Secondly, Gaikai is technically not cloud based architecture. It does not do computational FPGA type of offloading. Gaikai is built more for speed in regards to str...

No they couldn't.

Azure is not dedicated to gaming. Microsoft is building their ecosystem to be aligned with Azure, which means that the Windows success, Skype, Office and all their other enterprising solutions benefit Azure.

Which then in turn, helps the Xbox Division by default. The more successful MS is as a whole, the bigger and more robust Azure will get.

MS has spent more than $20B on Azure worldwide over the past 8-9 years. They bu...

Hate to laugh at the PSN jab, but it was funny.

On Topic: I think it would have scored higher, simply because Insomniac would have gone back to their roots and that's the way it would have been marketed. "Sony letting Insomniac do what Insomniac does best..etc.."

Also, there would have been significantly more positive threads and articles on forums to generate hype. The amount of negativity regarding SSOD was crazy.

I think it's still too cluttered. Some tiles won't be able to go transparent (most likely for licensing and trademark reasons) so it's going to cover some and others will have opacity.

Also, every XB1 dash is going to be different, so it's not an easy remedy on MS's end.

I think MS's only hope is that Windows 10 might change the UI enough where transparent tiles could work cohesively.
