Also funny he thinks Activision are creative :p
Sure they’re successful and making bucketloads of money - but creative is the last word I’d use to describe an annual franchise like COD.
I don’t see them removing COD from PS - but if they did, people would simply keep playing it on PC or Xbox.
People aren’t going to jump to Destiny or Battlefield. Destiny isn’t even a patch on COD MP, and the battlefield franchise is all but dead after the last few entries flopping.
They could make 60 GOWs or Elden Rings - and none of them (standalone or combined) will even come close to what COD makes in a year, every year.
Looks good. I’m not even a huge Harry Potter fan but this will be a day 1 for me.
Imagine unboxing it after paying a premium, and finding two DLC codes.
This is even worse than the TLOU1 firefly situation.
Sure but I bet a lot of them are Apple One subs and not people interested in the games. I sub to Apple One and I have never even looked at what’s in Arcade.
You’d have to compare PS+ to GP + Gold - otherwise it’s apples to oranges.
I hope not lol, if it is, I'll no longer be a gamer and will go find a new hobby.
I own a PS5 - it’s had games this year 🤷
but only a few I would call contenders for “best game of the year”.
Quiet in terms of competitors for “best game of the year”.
Looking at your list, I’d only include Elden Ring, GoW and HFW as contenders for that title - and they’d likely be in that order if I was to stack-rank them.
It was okay, one of the best… maybe (since it was a pretty quiet year) but certainly not the best game of the year - that is clearly Elden Ring.
To be honest, I would’ve rather had TEW3 than GW.
Yes it does lol. The Amsterdam portion is the smallest section of the game, minus one part that I won’t mention because of spoilers.
When you work on something creative, especially for that long, you’re never completely satisfied - but others are.
This also means there was no hope in hell of this game coming out in 2021 as originally planned, but the delay seems to have been the right thing to do.
So basically, the PS5 is more efficient in standby/off, and the Xbox is more efficient when powered on or running games. And the Switch of course consumes far less than both when running games (as expected).
I keep seeing articles about power consumption in the UK, the energy crisis there must be really bad if they're counting 10-20 pounds per year? That doesn't sound like much money over the course of a year.
"Being "more than capable" means exactly that"
Being more than capable doesn't mean maxing it out. Very few games max out consoles.
Being capable means being able to deliver a good, stable experience on many devices (which the studio in my below example did).
By your logic, SSM are not a 'capable developer' because they didn't max out the PS5.
I prefer the PS5 controller to Xbox minus the stick positions and built-in battery.
I find the offset stick position far more comfortable for long gaming sessions. Also find it gives me more control for first person games. But that's also personal preference, so people will differ.
This looks ugly and doesn't even look like it would be comfortable to hold, the bottom protrusion of the grips looks far too small.
Offset sticks are king, but that doesn't make up for the above.
Being more than capable of supporting varying targets does not mean you're maxing out every target lol.
And yes, most developers can support varying targets, some cannot (see Gotham Knights, which runs like garbage even on a high-end PC).
As for recent perf analysis, taking the most recent AAA release - COD MW2 - the two high-end consoles are hitting the same performance in 60fps mode, with the XSX taking a lead in 120fps modes.
&qu...
You would expect the Series S to run games at lower resolutions and/or framerates than the PS5 and Xbox Series X though, that is hardly a surprise to anyone.
That doesn't mean its restricting next-gen games. It's laughable to say that is the case when these games are shipping on 2013 consoles and ~2014 PCs lol.
I don’t see PS going under - but they will get bought out someday by an Amazon or a Tencent - someone with lots of $$$ and who can compete in the big tech space.
The reality is, if the future direction of the industry is buying out companies at tens of billions of dollars - Sony simply cannot afford that.
Nintendo will keep being Nintendo though - they’re playing a different game from Sony and MS.
