Well, not really. The PS4 and XB1 defined how we consume physical media nowadays. E.g. the requirement to install everything all the time and the fact we play from the hdd/ssd really came from there, not the PS3.

Today the reality is, we play nothing from any type of disk, and often the disk doesn’t even contain the content required to play.

If developers were required to always ensure the entire game was physically present at retail (like they were with ...

I’m too young to have worked on the Saturn, but there is something appealing about those old systems, things were much closer to the metal and less regulated than nowadays.

I still look through eBay for old development hardware from time to time - but it’s all crazy expensive nowadays.

The exclusives looked better, the third party games didn’t.

The 360 RROD situation was shockingly bad, not knowing when your console was going to randomly die and take weeks to repair (if it was even under warranty) was pretty stressful. Hopefully we never have that kind of situation again for any console manufacturer.

@Jin for exclusives yes. Lots of third parties skipped on it or ran at lower frame rated and/or resolution.

While the PS1 and 2 were awesome, of the more modern consoles, if we say modern is PS3 and later - I still think the PS3 had the best exclusives and spawned so many new franchises.

@wiz Blu-ray was both a blessing and a curse. No disk swaps was nice - but having to install games because BR was so slow was lame back then when the other consoles didn’...

Yeah but this isn’t running anything intense. It’s not much different from a TV streaming stick.

It looks like they went for more of a set too box setup which is probably where the cost comes in - probably has a ‘proper’ processor etc

Nobody tell him that Alaskans buy ice like the rest of us :P

I'm kinda surprised they couldn't get this down to $99. Really all it needed to be, was a streaming stick w/ bluetooth with a controller in the box. That should be more than doable for $99

Does anyone even care about NFTs anymore? I feel like they've all but disappeared, haven't heard much in ages vs a few months back when they were everywhere.

It's clearly about both. One is the leading game in the console space, the other in the mobile space. MS wants both - even more so after T2 bought Zynga.

Yep, but at the bottom of the review it states 'Reviewed on PC' and N4G rules state that you only add the tag for the platform which they actually played if it's a review.

But yeah, I get where you are coming from too - its weird if this doesn't show up under the Xbox section since it is out on Xbox.

Him and pretty much the rest of the industry outside of first party... literally the worst console I've ever worked on.

BF3? They need to go back to BF2 for the mainline. Heck, I'd settle for true-to-source remakes of BF2 and BC2 (w/ Vietnam). Everything they've done in the 'modern' era is just bad.

It is an insanely good-looking game, but I couldn't really get into it. Too impatient for most simulators to be honest, takes too long to learn everything and for it to become more fun than work.

That's not to say its a bad game - I totally get why people are into this and there's a hugely dedicated fanbase for MSFS.

Of course. I've said this all along - COD is not going anywhere on PS platforms.

This acquisition will make MS the biggest publisher in terms of sales & revenue on PlayStation, and COD prints money right now - why would they give that up for some console sales? Ultimately all they care about is revenue and the stock price - the source of that revenue is ultimately irrelevant.

I have an invite and I'm not planning on buying this - so if anyone didn't get an invite and wants mine (it looks like the link is not tied to my PSN account) - drop me a PM and it's yours.

Not a downer - I just like my data to be accurate.

1311d ago 6 agree48 disagreeView comment

Yep - there was also a PS5 bundle that included COD digital. That thing probably sold a ton.

1311d ago 6 agree37 disagreeView comment

COD is a game that heavily skews towards digital, a lot more than every other game - they cover that in the article too.

Also, obviously a game that is on PC, PS and Xbox that is as popular as COD will have outsold an exclusive.

“God of War Ragnarok launch was bigger than Call of Duty, Elden Ring and Pokémon”

Until you include the digital copies… and then COD will obviously have outsold GOWR by a large margin.
