I do think the CMA (or some other regulator) will enforce some form of restriction, probably an agreement that COD stays on all platforms - but I think MS would be fine with that, I don't see them yanking the cash cow from other platforms.
@Venom No it isn't. The only official timeline given was:
"the deal is expected to close in fiscal year 2023".
I'd imagine most services would be an improvement over Stadia :P
Isn't that fairly standard for subscription services though? They always want to upsell you to the next tier, so they make it easy to do so.
Every current platform I can think of has 1st, 2nd and 3rd party AAA exclusives.
Perhaps you're referring to Stadia? but it's dead.
@Crows Yep, every level and every part of the story is completely different.
Exactly lol. The only reason Sony hasn't tried to buy COD is because they can't afford it.
Both companies would love to own COD/Activision.
The only figure we have is $250-300m.
I don't think I'd ever be interested in 'downclocking' my console (and experience) to save dollars on my energy bill. That being said, energy bills aren't that high here, I know some countries over in Europe seem to have crazy high costs.
Agreed on Scorn. Neither of those games seem to be anything to write home about.
To be honest, it feels like Square got the good end of the deal here, a (likely sizable) payment for 2 years of exclusivity on a game that looks pretty lackluster.
That's a crazy number of units for a game from 2013 to still be moving. It's kinda funny that RDR2 looks 'bad' next to GTAV, but in reality, 46 mil is a lot more than pretty much every non-R* game.
Seems likely, still a good 8 months until June, and it seems likely this deal will go through. The only ones who seem to think it won't go through are randoms on Twitter lol.
Not sure why this rumor even existed / was deemed credible.
The game has been annual forever now, and with the amount of revenue it generates and the fact that players aren't dropping off / feeling over-saturated, there was no way they were going to skip a year.
@Crows For it to be a remake or remaster, it would have to retain the original story, or at least a majority of it.
Take TLOU Pt 1 for example, did they go change the story? No.
"Granted they decided to rerelease an old game with changes and improvements."
This isn't an old game? It's a brand new game.
Crazy amount of revenue. MW2 keeps breaking all kinds of entertainment records too.
I guess all the people who were saying COD is done and they weren't buying it... ended up buying it.
Looking at the videos and reviews of this, I just find it hard to get excited for the gameplay. I'm sure some people will enjoy it though.
@Sully "If someone is crap at their job, they shouldn't be threatened with violence, they should be sacked."
A reviewer not liking a game as much as you doesn't mean they're "crap at their job". If you think that, you're part of the problem.
Terrible and stupid. Fanboyism & console wars shouldn't bleed over into affecting someones real life.
It's an opinion, just that, someone having a differing opinion from you doesn't mean it isn't a good game or that you won't enjoy it.
"they will have no other way but to limit or constraint the Multiplatform developers to adapt games to that thing"
Maybe they can convince people to keep making games for the 2013 PS4 and XB1's that are far lower spec than the Xbox Series S... oh wait...
