@Shinoff

Any of the US links for PlayStation Direct & Walmart above work without a queue. You can just add them straight to cart and checkout, PS Direct will even let you buy multiple:

Reviews look average, but the game looks fun tbh. I'll give it a go.

@Aloymetal It's the basic economics of the industry, sorry if you can't see that.

If you're Sony/MS, you sell someone a console at $499 (or whatever MSRP). This console will be sold at a loss, or with a very small profit margin. The majority of consumers will now hold onto that console for the rest of the generation, some subset of consumers will upgrade once to a mid-gen refresh.

So how do you make money from consumers when they only buy one ...

@Aloy Yes, to huge corporations like Microsoft, Sony, etc. all that matters are the financials. Why do you think Sony made GoW? To make $$$.

And you were suggesting that this was some grand plan to sell more consoles, but in reality, a console sitting in a cupboard won't drive any revenue towards Microsoft. Depending on how many games the person purchased before moving onto an X, MS might even have lost money on that console.

Sorry to burst your bubbl...

That argument makes no sense.

Having people double dip on HW isn't a good tactic since you typically lose money on HW, or make very small profits. Console manufacturers make their money from engagement with the store & subscriptions - but someone double dipping on HW doesn't need to buy games twice or subscribe twice.

Ultimately, engagement is what matters, a console sitting unplugged & stored in a cupboard wont drive revenue.

@Nino To answer your questions:

1. Yes, MX is part of North America.
2. I don't know if it's lower than USD prices, they don't use USD in Mexico and I would assume the USD is stronger, but it is a discount from the MSRP in Mexico which Sony sets for retailers. Check the Sony store (where it's also instock) for the MSRP, https://store.sony.com.mx/p...

No idea who that is or what View is.

But if we trust Jim Ryan and say he isn’t a liar then it must be true that first party studios don’t make people buy PS5 and they cannot make a good shooter.

I disagree with him on both of those though - obviously people buy consoles for exclusives, and if they’d just revive KZ and Socom they would have great shooter content - and Guerilla are a more than capable FPS studio.

Well if he isn’t misleading them then I guess he genuinely believes that Sony first party studios output isn’t enough to sustain a platform and that they aren’t good enough to make a shooter 🤷

I’d disagree but I’m also not the head of PlayStation.

Yeah pretty easy to find in NA.

A quick check right now showed Walmart US has disk and digital in stock. PS direct has bundles and standalones for disk and digital.

Walmart MX has bundles and standalones for disk and digital - disk models (including bundles) are on discount.

I guess NA countries probably get more stock than NL just due to being far bigger countries/markets for Sony.

1303d ago 2 agree27 disagreeView comment

I wouldn’t even say hours at this point - it’s days/weeks or permanently in stock in NA, depending on region. It’s even discounted in some places.

They’re able to produce much higher numbers now - and we’re seeing that reflect in the sales.

@Major it was inevitable - but that doesn’t mean it’s over for the competition lol.

As long as both are selling well and generating a lot of revenue both are doing fine.

And it’s important that both are doing fine - the second that one isn’t (or disappears entirely) we get screwed as consumers. Just look at some of the anti-consumer things Sony have done recently - now imagine they had zero competition to worry about.

Similarly imagine ...

I’d be very interested in seeing the breakdown of X vs S. I expect that S has sold more tbh due to the price point.

1303d ago 18 agree16 disagreeView comment

Not sure if I’d call it a “wrap” when both consoles still exist and are both doing well.

I’d call it a strong industry with good competition.

1303d ago 7 agree47 disagreeView comment

That’s a huge boost. COD and GoW bundles clearly having a huge impact!

1303d ago 0 agree41 disagreeView comment

That’s an insanely good deal for anyone looking to get into next gen on a budget.

Combine it with GP and you’ve got the best deal in gaming.

1303d ago 4 agree16 disagreeView comment

Yep - it feels like a truly next gen vehicle after years/decades of stagnation in the industry.

1303d ago 5 agree14 disagreeView comment

Yeah - but it still feels like a cut above every other car unless you’re going to buy a super car or something similar.
