Nothing to worry about there, pretty lackluster games being removed.
GoW was always going to win GOTY on PlayStation blog though :p
The real GOTY award went to Elden Ring.
Good to see Stray getting the recognition it deserves though - both here and at TGA.
“ Money from GP & retail sales are different”
Is it? Do we know that? How much did they pay for HoL?
Unless we have that info, you can’t make such a statement.
I’ve found it varies by game too, and depends how heavily the game uses its new haptics.
Kinda similar to SteamDeck in that way.
Yep and then I’m tethered to a wall, might as well play cabled to the console like it’s a PS2.
Plus when it’s fully dead, you’re sat unable to play your game.
Swappable batteries (either rechargeable packs or AA) would be idea because then I have an instant solution, get full wireless capabilities immediately - and don’t have to worry about buying a new controller when the battery pack inevitably dies.
Right, but most don’t - and SF is coming out shortly and will be one of the biggest games of the year and definitely the most anticipated. So it’s definitely newsworthy.
@Tracy
Does that matter? Dollars are dollars - it doesn’t matter if they came from sales or from GamePass.
If anything, for a new IP, visibility is the most important thing. So they were also smart to get this into GP.
I’d give it a 7.5 to 8/10.
I’m having fun with it and find the comedy hilarious. But I also wouldn’t say it’s the best game ever - compare it to Elden Ring and you can see it’s not in the same class.
But it’s a fun experience none the less. Hopefully this game has set them in good stead for a sequel.
Pentiment is currently sitting at 86 on meta, so are the reviewers in on it too?
Reviewers typically don’t en-masse hand out participation trophies and you don’t land on 80+ by accident.
Also, this game is being hyped up on Steam too, which has… all the games.
@shinoff Probably not many? It was only the initial run and they were forced to extend warranties & replace them free of charge.
They don’t count replacements as sales, and it won’t show up in data because they don’t go through a retail channel.
Sounds like a very smart business move in that case, given they’re on track to outsell the DS and PS2 and be #1 of all time.
MS and Sony could learn a thing or two from Nintendo.
I’m aware that PSNow existed, but let’s be honest, it was dead, old games and a different model. In the time it existed it only managed about 5-10% of the subs that GP had mustered in far less time.
So Sony saw the popularity of GP and took the opportunity to copy GP, merge the services and offer PS+ premium tiers.
While it still doesn’t have 1st party day 1 titles, it has some day 1 titles.
Not a step back at all. A step back is not being able to play your games because your controller is charging and you can’t swap out the battery.
Disposable batteries are bad for the planet - that’s why I use rechargeable ones. Most others would too, it’s far more costly to buy disposables.
But my other suggestion works too - make the battery pack removable so we can buy multiple and have them charging in a wall socket.
Similar to what ...
@badz Check out the new PS+ sub.
I suspect we’ll get a proper mid-gen refresh (not just a new display) in 2023.
And it’ll sell like crazy again. This thing will overtake the DS and PS2 with its current trajectory plus launch of a midgen refresh.
@MrWriter Because I’m American and not really interested in Europe lol. Plus Europe seems to be weird on consoles, price increases for PS5, people saying they still can’t find a PS5?
The US seems to be a more balanced way of looking at how the consoles are performing now that stock is readily available for all of them.
@darkrider That’s a European problem then.
Easy to find a PS5 here in the US, just go on PS Direct.

PC is catching up with console revenue which is great to see.
Also console has finally broken the 70% digital mark - like I said the other day, these boxed charts are basically useless. It’s like determining which music album is the best by how many CDs are sold.
I do wonder why 2% of PC game purchases are still on disk though…
The new releases vs new IP section is an interesting overview of the state of the industry and how few new IPs...
It’s the knife for me, he’s a total maniac and it’s hilarious.
And I’m not gonna lie - being Australian just makes him even funnier 😂
Does it really matter why though? They launched a game, people are loving it, engagement is high, their game is a success. That’s all that matters.
And GP doesn’t need hype, it already has hype, just talk to anyone who’s been using it for the past few years.
There’s a reason why Sony copied it - if it didn’t have hype they wouldn’t have.
Hopefully the success of the game means we’ll get a sequel.
Nothing wrong with discussing good games on a gaming community 🤷
