Very quiet year overall. Games like SF being moved out is what killed them this year.

Next year looks pretty packed so far, and SF is going to undoubtedly be one of the biggest, if not the biggest game of the year (looking at you Zelda, are you actually coming out?)

In 2023 I want to see them get their first party output on track. Keep filling GP with good titles. 2023 will be a big year for Xbox with Zenimax games finally coming to Xbox and the Activisio...

PS5 had a banger year (albeit a lot of the games being ones we were meant to play in 2021) - but you were rarely without a new exclusive to play on PS5 this year.

Next year is looking pretty bare so far, but we’ll wait and see what they announce.

I want to see them double down on PS+ premium tiers in 2023 and make the service more worthwhile to subscribe to.

The last announcement was that every game was bootable - but bootable for them basically means starts up and doesn’t show an OS error, even if it just starts up and remains on a black screen.

Now the “bootable” group is also empty, meaning everything now at least starts up and actually shows something, even if that something is just legal texts and intro videos.

Yep, heck I would’ve rather had the ability to play MGS4 again than play Forspoken exclusively for two years.

Possibly yeah - depending on the license attached they may be able to use it or commercial use.

The funny part though is that most o/s licenses require that you publish the source with any changes you make (e.g. https://research.activision... ) so ironically you would see Sony publish changes improving the open-source emulator.

@Apocalypse

"So has Sony. But Sony's data breach possibly exposing gamer information was the talk of the town. Sony also gave away like 5 games for taking PSN offline"

This is nowhere near what happened with Sony. The most someone can do here is brick your console.

Sony on the other hand leaked the private information of 77 million people, took their network down for nearly a month, and were found to be storing personal in...

Sony needs to hire these guys - or pay to license the tech. They're doing a far better job of preserving the PS3's legacy than Sony are.

Grabbed this. Already got it on PS4/5 but it never hurts to have a PC copy.

Thanks Epic / KJP / 505 games.

@IRetro Someone clearly doesn’t play real racing sims.

Otherwise you’d know games like GT and Forza are way too arcade like to qualify as one.

If a casual can pick up a controller and win a race, and doesn’t require any reasonably knowledge about cars or racing - you’ve got yourself an arcade racer.

The reality is, you’d never see PD or T10 make a true sim racer because the largest market and money is where the casuals can play.

Curious as to why though? The other online games they’ve launched on PC just use Steam Multiplayer and don’t require PS+ - why would they not just do the same for GT?

I do agree with you though that some of their future games will likely be F2P with microtransactions, possibly starting with TLOU MP.

The game was fine for me. Played through it on the highest difficulty, 100%’ed it and had a blast.

Now we wait for DS remake. Let’s see if it’s better or worse.

@Knush Most of the gift giving is just small gifts between couples. It’s not super commercialized like here where you give kids 10+ presents etc.

Golden Week is where the big retail period will be.

@Knush GT7 and Sport are not true sim racing games - neither are Forza Motorsport and Horizon.

Compare them against RF, Assetto, Project Cars etc and they’re very arcadey - quick mainstream games that a casual can pick up and play well without a ton of knowledge about cars or racing.

It did have some awful micro-transactions and annoying always online at launch - but that doesn’t make it any more or less of a sim racer.

So is this actually worth picking up? I remember it having some hype upon reveal but then it just kinda disappeared.

@rdeal Go on any PC community and you’ll just find people complaining about windows lol. The store in particular is terrible.

@anast Outed myself as a PC gamer, oh no! 😱

Hmm? Since when did Xbox make the Switch. They wish they’d made the switch lol.

@Flawess UE is miles ahead with v5 and it’ll likely stay ahead this gen.

Game studios cannot dedicate as many resources to their engine as Epic does nowadays, since for them the engine is just a means to ship their game, while for Epic it’s a product they sell.

Systems like Nanite, lumen etc are just insane, even Fortnite looks great with them.

DS2 is already confirmed to be using MetaHumans from UE.

KJP will likely s...

Die Hard Trilogy on the PS1 is the GOAT DH game.

It was also kinda crazy to think it had 3 entirely different types of game in it. Driving, third person shooter and a rail / light gun shooter.

Tbh I’d be more interested to see what KJ could do with UE5. UE is miles ahead of any other engine at this point.

They have confirmed they’re using some UE tech on DS2 though - and I suspect we’ll see KJP standardize upon it as they start making more non-Sony exclusives - starting with Overdose, since that game obviously won’t be Decima based.

@darkrider

The most played games are available on all platforms anyway. Looking right now that list is COD, Madden, FIFA, Fortnite and Destiny 2.

There are plenty of PS and Xbox players who just don’t care about that 1% you listed and just care about COD and sports games.

Also, we already know two must get games of 2023, and likely GOTY candidates, Starfield and Forza will be on GamePass.

And again, GOTY 2022 is avail...
