The team doing back compat isn’t the same teams who make games / 1st party.
By back compat being worked on, we aren’t losing out on “new games”. You should look towards first party and soon Zenimax for those games.
The games you are referring to were games that were uncapped on last gen or couldn’t hit their target frame rate consistently - these games benefit from the improved power of the PS5.
Games that were capped at 30 will not magically start working at 60 without a patch from the developer or some emulation magic like MS has done.
“ While there sales and players is going up slowly, there market value (of xbox brand name) is finished. Not even devalued.. it...
So it’s an opinion not a fact?
They likely just did that “separate entity” vault to get it through the regulators - especially in the EU where they are super strict.
They did something similar with Playground and that wave of acquisitions where they aren’t fully integrated into MS and the staff aren’t part of corporate etc. Those games are still exclusive.
I highly doubt MS spent 7.5bn on this to keep releasing them on PS and not add an...
The sooner MS confirm the status of these IP’s the better. I expect an announcement once the acquisition gets approved.
Source?
No they don’t. While I would buy a Switch Pro, I wouldn’t say they “need” to make it. The console is still selling great and the games are some of the best.
To be honest, I would rather have Bloober Team than any of the developers Konami chose for the latest releases of SH.
Do we really trust Konami to pick a decent dev? Past behavior suggests they won’t and it’ll turn into a western ammosexual game with no horror.
They may be bigger than Sony but they’re still smaller/valued less than Microsoft, by far. Microsoft are worth almost two trillion and could also afford those companies - but it doesn’t mean it’ll happen. Same way that it won’t with Tencent.
Also very unlikely a JP company (like those listed above) would sell out to a Chinese corporation.
How much for them to stop wasting the IP’s they’re sitting on? :p
This would be awesome if true. But huge grain of salt since Konami are basically useless nowadays.
I agree. Existing games and signed deals will obviously stay as they are, but it is clear to anyone that MS sunk 7.5bn into Zenimax to get these games exclusively on MS platforms.
Hyped to play this again! Day 1.
RIP
Just because I own an PlayStation or a switch or a pc - or any product, even non games related ones doesn’t mean those products are perfect and the companies too and are therefore immune to criticism - only a fanboy would think that way. Be a fan of games and gaming - not a corporation.
I own every major console manufactured during my adulthood - minus Series X - but it’s on my buy list. And I will buy whatever console Nintendo MS and Sony make next - a true gamer enjoys ev...
I call out MS, Sony and Nintendo when they do wrong - and praise them when they do good. Game pass is good.
They actually don’t pay a fee up front to put their game on PlayStation - they buy dev kits, and then Sony takes 30% of their sales (or less if they negotiated a deal). It’s not “paying Sony to have the game on their console” - Sony only makes revenue if the game makes revenue, so no loss like you’re stating. Weren’t you claiming to be a game dev in another thread? An...
Yeah, don’t get me wrong I’d like them to stay solo, and they’ve been burnt a few times by acquisitions now - just wondering how sustainable it is long term.
I think they have a lot more freedom without MS and Activision.
“ Yakuza 7 isn't even the games name”
It is the games original, intended name under which it was first released in Japan. Like a Dragon came with the western translation.
Anyway, it sounds like Sega are enjoying being on game pass - let’s hope Sony copies it because it’s great for consumers.
So Yakuza 7 is a years old PS game? Didn’t think so.
“Microsoft gave Sega a boat load of money to pay for ports of games that Sega paid Sony to sell. ”
Sega paid Sony to sell their games for them? Are you high? That doesn’t sound like a sustainable business model - typically devs/publishers get paid for exclusivity, not the other way around.
So do you think MS and Sony should just scrap back compat? Personally I like being able to replay classics like MGS 2/3, silent hill games etc without having to set up the old consoles and hoping they never die etc.
