I like Splatoon but at the same time, I'm left asking where are Mario Kart & Mario Bros?
Which MS games are you referring to?
If a game is actively looking at how many frames are being drawn to time game logic, I don't see how any hardware workaround for presenting twice the number of frames per second would avoid that - unless you patched the code.
I highly doubt Microsoft plan marketing around Sony - they've likely been working on these improvements and the associated marketing for months... Also which game is Sony about to release?...
Since you love Razz apparently - Razz also said above that in the console space (w.r.t back compat), Xbox is miles ahead.
If your main complaint about Xbox is about exclusive games then I have good news for you - they're correcting it by purchasing companies like Zenimax :)
You should stop being a fanboy and actually look at things properly. I like my PS, but I do wish Sony put as much effort into backwards compatibility as MS does - lots of good game...
"39 games out of 997 for OG Xbox.
568 games out of 2154 games for 360."
How many PS1/2/3 games work natively on my PS5?
This is great for gamers with accessibility needs. More game companies/studios need to focus on this.
I highly doubt they removed any resources from their first party studios to enable this service.
And they are working on the exclusives, no? I don't think they spent 7.5bn on Bethesda for fun.
Likely a combination of licensing + technical reasons - some older games tied gameplay elements to framerate so the game would effectively break / run logic twice as fast if they bumped the framerate up.
I expect to see more games coming through this program soon though, assuming developers sign up.
Still 25% more gen 7 games than I can play on my PS.
Sure, but a lot of that, while technically possible for MS, probably wouldn't be legal for MS to do based on the licensing of the game etc. - heck, they can't even release 360 games on XB1 without the publisher signing an agreement etc.
Also, for me at least, I don't want new gameplay mechanics - I want to experience the game I remember playing before.
I'm a PS gamer / fan, and I want to be able to re-play MGS4 without finding a PS3 on eBay. It's not as clear cut as you're making out - there are lots of good games being left behind on PS1/2, and especially PS3.
Also, since when were 80+ metacritics 'low rated games'?
+1. I never got to finish MP3.
Obviously PC emulation is ahead - they even emulate PS3 on PC - something Sony still hasn’t delivered. Still on a commercial (and legal) level, nothing close to MS.
I do play a lot of 360 games on my XB1 - don’t have an XSX yet but when I do, I will keep playing my old classics.
And clearly more than 5 games will be enabled over time - look at how the original back compat program worked.
But the fact remains, this tech is miles ahead of...
Oh my, you’re totally right. I forgot Bethesda games, Forza + Horizon, Halo, EA games etc are all mediocre budget titles.
Cancelling my GP subscription right now /s
Bethesda make decent games - no?
Also clearly game pass is not a marketing stunt to get people talking about Xbox - it’s a real subscription model product like Netflix with great value for gamers.
Don’t be a salty fanboy ;) 🧂🧂
Imagine a gaming website talking about games - the horror 😱
Awesome! The things MS can do with their backwards compatibility never fails to amaze me. Easily miles ahead of anyone else in this space.
@purple101
1. You don’t know if it’s 6 or 12 months, or if MS will buy their way out of it
2. I have a PS5 but if I really wanted to I could also play on PC - it isn’t an exclusive.
3. That’s one of many games, elder scrolls, fallout, starbound etc.
New Mario Kart (a normal one) and new Mario bros game please.
Very fair point. Would be interested to see that calculation.
"Since the very beginning of series s x announcement its all about back compat and now the biggest news is still back compat"
Did you miss the part where Spencer bought a 7.5bn dollar company called Zenimax? Way bigger news than back compat.
Clearly he doesn't need to go at all - Xbox is doing great. Neither does anyone at Sony or Nintendo need to go - all 3 are doing great.
