Sony merging with Nintendo? Right after pigs fly I guess.
They have a very long history of animosity - Nintendo is closer with MS than Sony.
SE acquisition wouldn’t even be close to Zenimax never mind Activision in terms of IPs gained.
Great, we’re playing this game again.
Let’s pretend for a year or so that future Activision games will still be cross platform just like we did with Zenimax - that aged super well.
Let's hope they're emulated and not streamed... and hopefully the best titles from the generation are there. Even better if it supports using your previously bought disks.
Lots of great games from the PS3, and PS1/2/3 games on PS5 would be awesome.
Those are pretty accurate predictions I'd say. We might not see a next gen tease this year though - 50/50 I'd say.
“ Pc gaming is at its all time low.”
That’s just full out incorrect though. PC gaming numbers are higher than they’ve been at any point. In fact, recent NPD numbers suggested that in the US, PC gaming is more prevalent than console gaming (combining all 3 consoles) by about 10%.
From a technical & user experience standpoint - PC gaming has never been in a better state:
- AMD, Nvidia and intel are all competitive again resulting in n...
Well, you also have to factor in the long term cost. A console is technically way more than $400-500 when you factor in the increased cost of games plus paying to play online, over the course of say 8-10 years for a generation.
Most gamers won’t jump to PC and leave their PS behind. It’s more expensive and less accessible and comfortable for starters.
I wouldn’t say I bought my PS5 for the exclusives. Yes it is a selling point but I also don’t like gaming on PC for long periods and for most games, prefer a console and TV - so I would be buying a console regardless, the exclusives are what makes me decide WHICH console to buy, not whether I should buy one or not.
Isn’t making more money a good example of having business sense?
The game coming out on PC isn’t going to hit PS. Most people are still going to play on their PS, myself included.
“which are allready free to play for ps users”
What? Since when was God of War free to play?
Exactly. I don’t know why this article thinks 2023. Unless they’re expecting a delay but I don’t think that’ll be the case.
I do think it’ll be hard to get one before 2023 though because shortages plus scalpers.
Unless I totally missed it, this came completely out of nowhere. But a very welcome thing regardless.
Exactly - it's quite clearly just going to be more top scoring games, and more games coming day 1 to GP. And that is fine.
Similarly, Sony's 2022 is predictable too - it'll be more singleplayer, blockbuster, mind-blowing AAA experiences - and that is also fine.
The only unpredictable one is Nintendo.
This is a great, highly optimized, PC port. Congrats to Sony and all of the developers involved in this.
Remember how terrible PC ports were back in the PS3/360 era and before? *shudders*
God. I really hope this whole NFT thing is just a phase and dies out soon… it’s starting to get tedious. And just when you thought games couldn’t get any worse than MTX and loot boxes.
And some of the highest rated games of the year, if 2021 was anything to go by.
Microsoft has a Japanese entity, which is enough to acquire a company: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/...
Also Tango Gameworks is a Japanese company which was acquired by American Zenimax, and then acquired by Microsoft.
The law you’re referring to is more about acquiring high national security and infrastructure tech companies, such as telecom companies - not game studios.
Well, technically, an Xbox is whatever Microsoft chooses to call an Xbox. So if they did launch 'Xbox Streaming Stick' or whatever, it's technically still an Xbox and you're still paying them for that hardware.
That being said, my point was, I don't think we'll see such a device this year. I can see them launching native apps all over the place to make XCloud more accessible, but I don't see them releasing any new hardware this year - streaming b...
PS3 disks running on PS5 would be an awesome addition, literally the best announcement of the year for me if it happened. Even better if PS1 and PS2 are included. So many great titles across those 3 consoles.
PSNow and PS+ combined / some form of game pass competitor seems very likely at this point. Too many rumors popping up for it not to have some level of truth behind it.
Those feel like somewhat safe bets, safer than the ones in the accompanying PS article.
Starfield - Definitely.
Ton of updates for existing games - Very likely
Fable - I expect we'll see a considerable info dump + gameplay this year, but I still expect the release to be later than 2023
Major acquisition - Very likely given the track record
No console Xbox - This one I'd be less certain on, i...
I'd agree with like half of these.
Director's Cuts - Very likely.
PSVR Full Reveal with 2023 release - Full reveal for sure, probably at E3. I expect a late 2022 release though (although for most people, that means 2023 anyway given the shortages + scalpers).
PC support - obviously going to happen.
Retro games - Yes. There's no smoke without fire, and there's plenty of recurring fire around a few old I...
@Magog But you can get Microsoft games on Steam... so you aren't locked to their store/gamepass/streaming - if anything, this might be an improvement for PC gamers in that Activision/Blizzard games may return to Steam.
