@ziggur I agree, until I actually see the behavior/actions play out, I will remain skeptical. It was just that their statements seemed less wishy-washy than Microsoft’s about “existing games” etc.
I dunno, they have put out a pretty clear message about exclusivity going forward (unlike Microsoft when they acquire things...)

"Q. Bungie has future games in development, will they now become PlayStation exclusives?
No. We want the worlds we are creating to extend to anywhere people play games. We will continue to be self-published...
I would +1, but that's not enough, +99999999.
Also remake SOCOM 1 and 2, and also the original Syphon Filter games.
I don't think it's a cloud version, the store page says it requires 17GB storage minimum and makes no mention of cloud or streaming:

"Sony is the one taking the money from MS at the end of the day"
Sony doesn't get paid by MS. The GamePass (and Xbox) version is published by the MLB, the GamePass agreement is between the MLB and Xbox - realistically, Sony would likely not sign any GamePass agreement with Microsoft.
@isarai Dollars are dollars. You just made my point - 3.6bn is a lot for one dev studio with one IP.
Sure they will - but that’s speculative.
Currently they have Destiny only and are valued (according to Sony) at 3.6bn, while Zenimax had a lot more studios and franchises at 7.5bn.

“ We’re also delighted to announce that MLB The Show 22 will be available with Xbox Game Pass on day one and will be available on April 5 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Cloud Gaming (Beta). Both MLB The Show 22 Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S Standard Editions will be included with Xbox Game Pass so members will be a...
That feels like a lot of money for Destiny… when you compare it to 7.5bn for Zenimax.
“ The Standard Edition on last gen consoles is $59.99 USD/$79.99 CAD. The Standard Edition on current gen consoles is $69.99 USD/$89.99 CAD. ”
$70 for an annual sports game while it’s on game pass day 1…
Getting major de ja vu - pretty sure I heard this someplace before…
@Chevalier “ I thought getting 20 games automatically for PS5 was pretty nice.”
No one got 20 games “automatically”, you’re trying to make it sound like the console came bundled with 20 games - we got them for being a paid subscriber, same way that games aren’t free with GamePass. We paid, just indirectly - and they will be inaccessible if we stop subscribing - by your logic, Microsoft gave everyone hundreds of games with their XSX because you can subscribe to GamePass.

@FlavorLav01 A 134 billion dollar company can afford to give out free minor upgrades like this. Are we supposed to feel bad for them and cough up our hard earned cash?
Let's not forget they're also selling it at $50 and will be raking in millions of sales when it arrives on PC for the first time.
Ultimately, it comes down to, if their competitors AND smaller companies can afford to give out free upgrades to loyal fans, so can Sony.
@GamingSinceForever They did give it away with PS+, but the PS5 $10 upgrade is not available to those who got the game via PS+
"PlayStation Plus members who claimed UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End via their PlayStation Plus subscription are not eligible for the digital PS5 upgrade."
So it's a $50 purchase of a game you already got for paying a subscription.
The volume of work to improve framerate/resolution really varies game to game. Some titles with a scalable engine may get it 'mostly' for free by just leveraging the increased power of the next gen consoles, others will have to use profiling tools to determine bottlenecks and optimize appropriately.
The former may be what they've done here since the patch is 4k30, 1440p60 and 1080p120 - I would suspect with the proper optimization, UC4 could run at or close to 4...
I used to do the exact same, plus the old trays weren't the fastest to open and close - much prefer the slot loaders we have today (plus we use disks less).
When I was working on 360 devkits, we would use the eject button all the time to exit the app and get back to the dev dashboard quickly since it was the fastest way if you didn't have a debugger attached (e.g. when running many kits for multiplayer) - it even worked without a disk in the drive. The drives would...
"It's idiotic of people to think devs should work for free."
But they aren't... they were paid a salary by Sony, just like they were for the free TLOU2 update.
Making a free upgrade doesn't suddenly mean devs arent paid... (especially at a huge company like Sony). Most games that have upgrades are free upgrades... the 6 figure earning devs aren't going hungry because we got a small upgrade for free for a 6 year old game.
"lets just say xbox is selling “great” but by that logic Playstation is selling “doubly great”"
Ok and Nintendo is selling 'five times great'. So what? It doesn't remove my enjoyment of my PS5.
"Nintendo is NOT as effected by the chip shortage from the looks of it. (Pretty sure this is true) otherwise why am i able to walk in the store and buy one when its selling more?"
Store availability varies regional...
And PS is kicking it's own ass too, Nintendo also - and that is GOOD. Why would you not want your new product to do better than your last?
@Lightning77 Apologies, I wasn't clear - I meant the rumors around Spartacus - Sony having their own GamePass equivalent, not Xbox GamePass on PS consoles.
@ziggur Agreed!
